scuba: Damm right they are, nice to have vinyl-alike sleeves as well I suppose. Really good value when you consider I could have bought Passion & Warfare and Alien Love Secrets for more than the 5 cost...:)

i,ve a Q...best saddles for strat is? it seems t be a fuckin mystery, hardcore Fender peeps think this convo is stupid, while others are screaming graphite covered saddles = more sustain better tone & less string breaks

*slan scratches head*

I had no idea the Fender guitar police were so....dont touch me....i,m a perfect specimen i have no need t evolve...until NOW

Did anyone here see Liquid Tension Experiment on tour last year? Ytsejam Records is now taking preorders for a massive box set containing two complete shows on CD and DVD, a Blu Ray version of the Downey show, a bonus CD with other stuff, a 24-page booklet, and the L3E2 When The Keyboard Breaks CD that was recently released on its own.

The cost is $130, which is pretty good considering everything you get... Check it out.

jdublu - Ah...that sounds like a cool trip. I've been to about half of those places. How much time did you spend out here? Just a week or two?

Happy Easter, everyone!

Marillion - Easter

I guess this is kind of an odd choice for here, but oh well. If the song bores you, jump to 2:15 for the guitar solo or 3:05 for the proggy outro. ;-)

cosmic_ape - You're really thinking of buying a Suhr? Awesome. I remember talking to you about those guitars at the Paul Gilbert gig..."They're nice, but they're expensive...but they're REALLY nice!!!"

I know I told you I have a friend who used to work there, but I'm not sure if I mentioned that I actually got to tour the shop as well. Very cool...

Guitarvibes - There's some very creative math in that ad...haha. You can buy those three pedals from Music123 for $50 less than what Vox is advertising. I guess my gripe should be with the practice of giving products such high MSRPs.

I checked out The Hideous Sun Demons...interesting stuff. The MySpace page says they're based in LA...do you know if they're still together? How often do they tour? Their blog hasn't been updated in about a year and a half...

scuba:dunno, i stayed out the debate partly because i dont know n partly because i think such conversation is a lot of old toss, however there must be some truth in it t raise hackles at Fender

cosmic ape:Yup if in doubt ask a pro.. i like these breakaway lads that used t work for Fender or Gibson, they have vision, no questioning Suhr quality, maybe 2 pretty an eyefest for my taste at times i like t batter the guitar without worrying about the finish choptastic celtic dadgad exercise for ya been recording a celtic fusion blend of orchestrated madness on & off for the last 3 years now, lookin forward t the day i can put it on the net with a vid kick back with a beer n say mission accomplished ahhhhh, talkin of which i better pull the finger out now i get some work done

Dothestu as fas as I know Hideous Sun Demons is a on and off thing (?) around drummer Ray Luzier, since I saw him on Youtube with two Japanese in a 2006 gig.... A bit more at Magana Carta Records. And more. I read on the web they played a dutch festival allready in 1996!?? The CD I bought was released in 2004. They remind me of Liquid Tension Experiment and Tony MacAlpine, whos stuff I all have.
"Having toured the world as David Lee Roth’s band and appeared on his Diamond Dave CD, The Hideous Sun Demons will release their self-titled debut album of all instrumental tracks. From very structured pieces to wide open jams, The Hideous Sun Demons cover a vast array of styles.

Formed by longtime Roth drummer, Ray Luzier, the band began to take shape when Japanese guitarist, Toshi Hiketa, was brought on board. DLR bassist, James Lomenzo, became interested in the project and the three players began to write material together.

Each member has recorded extensively with household names from the world of rock ’n’ roll. In addition, they have all been involved as music instructors at prestigious music schools such as GIT, Osaka School Of Music and PIT."

I put the Vox pedals ad on T2J not for the prices, just because I liked the picture.

The Pope and the Jew

Several centuries ago, the Pope decided that all the Jews had to leave the Vatican. Naturally there was a big uproar from the Jewish community. So the Pope made a deal. He would have a religious debate with a member of the Jewish community. If the Jew won, the Jews could stay. If the Pope won, the Jews would leave. The Jews realized that they had no choice. So they picked an elderly aged man named Moishe to represent them. Rabbi Moishe's Latin wasn't very good - in fact, he knew very little--but he was a man of great faith and well respected in the Jewish community. The pope agreed. What could be easier than a silent debate?

The day of the great debate came. Moishe and the Pope sat opposite each other for a full minute before the Pope raised his hand and showed three fingers. Moishe looked back at him and raised one finger. The Pope waved his fingers in a circle around his head. Moishe pointed to the ground where he sat. The Pope pulled out a wafer and a glass of wine. Moishe pulled out an apple. The Pope stood up and said, "I give up. This man is too good. The Jews can stay."

An hour later, the cardinals were all around the Pope asking him what happened. The Pope said: "First I held up three fingers to represent the Trinity. He responded by holding up one finger to remind me that there was still one God common to both our religions. Then I waved my finger around me to show him that God was all around us. He responded by pointing to the ground and showing that God was also right here with us. I pulled out the wine and the wafer to show that God absolves us from our sins. He pulled out an apple to remind me of original sin. He had an answer for everything. What could I do?"

Meanwhile, the Jewish community had crowded around Moishe. "What happened?" they asked. "Well," said Moishe, "First he said to me that the Jews had three days to get out of here. I told him that not one of us was leaving. Then he told me that this whole city would be cleared of Jews. I let him know that we were staying right here." "And then?" asked a woman. "I don't know," said Moishe. "He took out his lunch and I took out mine."
