Skippy- Yes it was very tempting I will have to admit. The "itch" has returned once again. The voices say " Get a band together!", then I say "But I am way too busy right now!" Then they say "Life is short Burly, live a little!" and I say " Well maybe just a little jam wouldn't be so bad" I think I am giving in. I am so weak ;-)
Gotta run, busy day in the plans.

Blue Moon - oh yes, ya gotta love unecessary female nudity in horror flicks. It always makes me laugh when they do that, so dumb. What movie were you watching to inspire that post?
Igneous - ah yeh, I think I remember that. Was it an ex football player? He seemed to cover the stages pretty well. It's definitely a popular idea, out of season I think could be a great trip (mental note to put on things to do list...). Post some of yer Guitar playing. FTLOG is an awesome song, so lets hear it please : )
GoldenGirl2 - oops, I missed your post to me, soz! My guitars are mainly behaving. It's more my hands that misbehave when I tell them to play this phrase this way... and then they don't LOL Personality wise... interesting.... the red Washburn gets most of the use and is nice, good tone, but flawed. The graphic Joe guitar is amazing, and inspiring. You've reminded me I have a strat copy I must break out as it must be lonely : )
PhilTheMetalHead - nice Vid, Pablo was cool
Michelle - nice find on that Jeff/Rod post
Do The Stu - ahem, that Bass Player looks about 7 years old. You cradle snatcher you mwah ha ha!

JSPhil: Once I get past the fiendish solo and get a yootoob account then consider it done! (Unless I get bored of it which sometimes happens to me...) I quite fancy learning Damage Control by John Petrucci as well, but that's 10mins long...How about Flight of the Bumblebee instead?!

I think all you guys have interesting points... It's hard to me to react to Matt Rach because he lives a reality that I have never experienced.
I purchased all the gear that I own (I'm still paying for most of it) and when you do that on your own it takes time. I am 25 and I'm just now attending music school. My parents did not pay for college or anything like that. They have supported me in every way they could, but they were not financially stable by any means. I got food, shelter and a high school diploma. And that was pretty much it.
I do think that being forced to mature this way and take of biz my own way has also reflected in my playing. So even though there might be a little jealousy involved when it comes to opportunity and resources, I gotta say I don't envy this guy. Things happen for a reason and life will put everybody in the place they deserve to be put.
What I do really think, and I apologize in advance for the language, is that if you have the money and the resources to do whatever it is that you want to do with your life, then you better fucking do it and do it right. If you can go to your room and practice for 8 hours a day because you don't have to get a real job to pay for all your shit, then you better become a good player. If you don't have to worry about house payments, utilities, health and car insurance, credit card bills and student loans along with time to devote to your family, then more power to you, brother! But you better get on it. It will an insult to everybody if you don't. There's nothing worse than a poser with a truck load of cool gear who can't play. There's a bunch of those in my school!
I apply this philosophy to myself every day. See, I never meant to move the States, things just happened that way. But now that I'm here, and just by being here, I have access to things I could have only dreamed of in Ecuador. I can get a job that will let me buy stuff and not just pay for housing and food! I can go to school. You can't get student loans where I'm from! And here, even though it's been very difficult to just get started, I have been able to do it and pursue my dreams. So, I'm on it.
Time will tell if this guy's good. Right now, I hear lots of skill but I think he needs to mature in terms of musicianship and taste. And that is something you can't buy... So, he better be on it...

yeah, well I didn't mean unemployment in that sense... you gotta understand where I'm coming from... I go to school with a bunch of teenagers who don't work because they don't have to... Their parents pay for all their shit... you gotta love it when they complain about how "broke" they are and they can't afford to go out and drink...

I have a question I'm asking on behalf of my son, I'll read him the reply(s) and if there's an internet site that would work, he can check it when he comes home for a visit in a coupla weeks....
The question is....He's been working on what he thinks is called the 2 & 3 octave scales...he'd like to know how to take a scale that's within a 5-fret box range and turn it into a much more expanded scale that uses more of the fretboard...
For example, if he's working in E Phrygian in 3 different positions on the fret board, what notes are changed or removed to go from low string to high string, low fret to higher fret in a linear fashion? Joe touched on this during his lesson with Chris and he's trying hard to work on it, but is having some trouble. It's the transition from one position to the next position without starting over back on the same string he started on.
Thanks, he sez any help would be very appreciated all u guitar players!!
Joe, he's trying, LOL!!

Scubadaz--"...you can give someone a protective net, doesn`t mean they`re going to use it (how many ppl are killed every year through not wearing a seatbelt when driving yet they are fitted in every car)."
Have you checked out the website Joe sent us--www.nothingbutnets.net? From what ya wrote on Wednesday, I think you need to check out what the site is all about and read the articles in the Financial Times this past week. Are you aware that one child dies every 30 seconds from malaria? If you had a way of preventing (by education and distribution) those deaths, would you do it???
I sure as hell would!!
