Alexandre, congratulations to you and the little mama. What an exciting time this is in your life. I'm so very happy for you both and wish your baby girl a blessed arrival. Big hugs!
Cube, congrats on the weight. Stay away from Martone. One night of drinking could throw ya back up a few pounds. lol! Then again, look at that skinny bastid Al. Ahh well, just stay away from the chips & dip. Ignore the drink thing ;-) Cheers!
Austin, yer one fortunate s.o.b I tells ya!

Glitz Man, I have! I've gotten it down to 3 steps inhaling and 3 exhaling. If I try to go for 2 steps it's too much. But I do feel a difference in the lungs, legs are strong as usual so by the time I'm done I don't feel winded.
After an 8 month hiatus I'm close to returning to the soccer fields, so I'm currently training for leg strength and endurance, everything feels good right now and I actually lost some weight on the very first week of training, which is good (I felt like a balloon when I hit 150). So I'll keep at it!

Geeze, Tracie didn't even tell you guys the reason I called her...haha. I was waiting in line on the street and who do I see stick his head out from inside? Mike Manning! So I was really excited and thought that Joe might show up after all (even though I seriously doubted it before I was there). But it turns out Mike was just Sammy's guitar tech for the evening.
On to the actual show...Sammy Hagar was awesome, as was expected. The core of the set was the same as what I saw last summer, but it was expanded a bit (still probably under two hours though).
I Can't Drive 55
One Way To Rock
I'll Fall In Love Again
Top Of The World
I Love This Bar
Why Can't This Be Love
Cosmic Universal Fashion
Psycho Vertigo
Loud
Finish What Ya Started
Three Lock Box
Right Now
Eagles Fly
Rock Candy
Heavy Metal
-----
Mas Tequila
I think that's everything...I might be a bit fuzzy on the order toward the end (Three Lock Box, Right Now, Eagles Fly, Rock Candy), but I know he never played two Van Halen songs in a row so I think this is how it went. I'll check Sammy's message board later and correct it if I'm wrong.
The HOB San Diego is on the smaller side, as far as HOBs go, but Sammy still had his standard beach/bar-themed stage with 70 or so fans on bleachers behind the band. It was his first time playing this venue, and he said (sincerely) that we sounded much louder than the 1,000 people the place holds.
Sammy was his usual onstage self, giving plenty of high-fives and signing autographs mid-song without missing a line...unless he was letting the crowd sing. It'll be neat to see how he changes things up for the Chickenfoot shows, as the fans on the first US leg won't know most of the songs. I guess he'll have to sing everything. ;-)
Sammy forgot some of the early lines of Psycho Vertigo, which was really funny...he walked over to Mona and tried to get her to help him out.
Two of my favorite songs of the night were probably Finish What Ya Started and Right Now, because the arrangements were changed. FWYS was played heavier than it is on the album, but the tempo was slower and it was just an all-around awesome groove. Vic Johnson nailed the guitar parts, too. And Right Now was also much slower and stripped down. Vic played the piano part on his guitar, which sounded really cool. I think RN may have been the best of the several crowd singalongs throughout the show...
Other than what I've said, I won't really do a song-by-song review here...as it isn't directly Satch-related. But if anyone has questions let me know and I'll elaborate.
Oh, and the on-stage tequila waitresses were hot. ;-)
...Austin...

Austin- Glad you enjoyed the show. Sammy is quite the performer.
Skip- We typically begin harvest in mid September. If it doesn't stop raining here we may have a short harvest. Most are about 40-50% planted here. Just can't get in the fields. Waken by a passing thunderstorm this morning.

Austin- great update thanks. What were you wearing and where were you standing etc so I can try and pick you in any vids on YT.... I would have jumped if I saw Mike Manning as well but hey sounds like a good show. Gee you get around a fair bit, ah to be single and mobile again, just jump on a plane and go see a band :0)
edit : OK here's Three Lock Box but it's too wobbly to see anybody.
burly - sorry you were woken early, had the newspaper at least arrived so you had somethin to read?
Bit excited the upstairs study at our house will be carpeted this weekend and then the in-built desk and shelves etc and then I can set it up as a guitar practice space and get a pooter that I don't have to share with the kids and yada yada.

Hello Joe..
This weekend I bought the Satchurator..
I'm happy to say that the pedal is all that I expected.. from crunchy sound to solo. It works well with the volume control on the guitar without loosing dynamics.. great.. great..
On Youtube I posted a song made with the pedal..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UyfX-5q41A
the time machine is great to btw.. waiting for the next pedal.
Greetings from Holland..

Joe, You keep me movin! Hey, on the subject of modes, I have tried a dozen ways to learn the patterns but since they are just patterns and really kind of dry and mechanical they don't stick. Do I just have to keep trying to memorize them or
is there a better way to learn them so I can use them?
What's your favorite material for learning them i.e, suggested book and/or DVD's etc.
Thanks!!
Mav
