Al - very nice, I love that purple guitar, I'd like a dress that looked as good as that guitar, or maybe a purple biker jacket, or maybe a purple Vespa.

Austin- don't forget us before you go to bed!!

just wondering if i am the first and only one cuban interacting with JOE on the web? _________________________________________________ I speak on behalf of my son cause he has no acces to the web but anyways he is willing to make firendship with some other guitar players around the world ________________________________________________

I am the father of an 18 year old young man who after me is the second most devoted fan of JOE SATRIANI in Cuba. it is hard for us to keep posted with the latest news and concerts because we have no access to inetrnet from our place and thanks that I work for Mexicana Airlines in Havana I can from time to time enter this page and as I also can travel to Mexico City first thing I do is to buy latest CDs and Videos of Joe and his band.

My son Samuel Franco is the lead guitar player and singer in a band called SIN TROVA in Havana. He has listened to all your records, and is constantly keeping you in mind and inserting your technics in the riffs he performs with his Ibanez Prestige at every one of his concerts with his band.

So, if you ever visit Cuba, please remember us, because it is hard for my son to assist to any of your performances abroad.

Thank you very much Joe, and hope to sometime see you in Cuba at least as a tourist perhaps.

Bye, Francisco Villavicencio B.

Yea its a nifty colour I digs it, its a little different and hey its a lefty guitar that isnt black its always a plus, and i said I'd make a vid with it didn't I :) ...wouldn't mind a pup change in it though, the humbuckers a little lifeless although single coils aren't that bad

and Austin If you don't get an In n' Out on the Sunset Strip after the show I'll kill ya! ...I wandered in there one night as a drunken mess then wandered around Hollywood afterwards at about 3am and got lost, had to ask some Valet parking drivers or something for directions! ...ah good ole' times i love doin' that kinda stuff, it rocks

and when people say "et al" i always think they're talking to me also instead of others

Chickenfoot was awesome, again! I think the San Francisco show as a whole was better, but some of the highs tonight in Los Angeles were higher. They're sticking to the same set list, and it sounds great.

First, I want to say a big thanks to Joe for the handshake after the gig. He was giving a bunch of high fives to some people a bit to the left of me and then went to get with the guys for the end-of-show bow...but then he saw me and stepped back up to shake my hand before the bow. So...thank you! :-)

As Tracie said, I got to the Roxy around 4 p.m. and was first in the normal entry line. The band started arriving around 5 and did a soundcheck for about 45 minutes. They started with a jam I didn't recognize as a Chickenfoot song...it sounded a bit like Robin Trower's Bridge Of Sighs, maybe? After that, they played parts of Down The Drain and Soap On A Rope, and most of Get It Up, Learning To Fall and Sexy Little Thing. I didn't hear Sammy, so he either wasn't there yet or just wasn't singing.

Once inside, I positioned myself just right of center, toward Mikey's side. The venue is so small though that I was actually probably closer to Joe tonight than I was at the Fillmore (I was on his side then, but farther back because they had a barricade set up).

I caught a stick from Chad toward the end of the show, and my friend caught a pick from Joe. I'm a big Satch fan and she's a big RHCP fan, so we traded. And at the end of the gig, Chad gave me the pick Sammy used for the lapsteel bit at the start of Bad Motor Scooter. Joe's pick was one of his, not a Chickenfoot pick. It's white with a JS and autograph on one side and a doodle on the other...I'm not sure when it's from (SC or PSATMOR? I'll post a picture soon...).

I also got a high five and a fist bump or two from Sammy, and the aforementioned handshake from Joe.

I know I haven't talked about the actual music much here, but I'll put a nice post together sometime Wednesday comparing the SF and LA gigs.

Really quick though (ha!), I'll say that My Kinda Girl NEEDS to be the next single from this band. It's the poppiest song on the album, yes, but the chorus is incredibly catchy and it could be a great feel good summer sing along thing. I think it has a lot of crossover appeal... Anyway...

...Austin...

Quick post on tonight's show before sleep. In three words:

Best. Concert. Ever.

Austin - sorry we didn't get a chance to hook up. I didn't have time to check my email before heading out, so I didn't see your message. We probably saw each other and didn't know it... Next time!

I was close enough to Joe that I could have reached out and touched his guitar many times without even leaning forward. I've never been nearly that close at any concert before. Incredible! The girl next to me actually played his whammy bar (oh man, that sounds wrong!) at one point with his encouragement.

I had my camera in movie mode for most of the songs, but I don't know how well I did framing the shots - I was too focused on enjoying the show (as it should be)! The camera was definitely secondary. But from checking one of the videos, it came out awesome. Surprisingly great sound for a pretty cheap camera. I'll post 'em on Youtube over the next couple of days.

More later!

Scuba you mean the dimarzios everybody uses?
"Progress isn't possible without deviation from the norm" [Zappa]
Thomann is usually the cheapest in EU, with Musik Produktiv in second place (the EVH Frankenstein is $140 even on the EVHgear.com site). You can get stuff cheaper in US if you pay in dollars with a good exchgange rate, but they usually don't ship outside US (Alaska / Hawaii) or the shipping is so expensive you loose all profit.

Alan--Say what you will, I think your vid was rough around the edges and beautiful at the same time.....but then I'm biased as you know.....lovely sounding guitar......I won't comment on the color because I did that before and it got me in "trouble"! LOL! I can tell you love that guitar and have bonded with it.......I wouldn't want anyone else to have it.....only you!! ;-D

Mornin' to everyone here.

Austin--You have that gift of being right where Joe and his musician friends and support people are.....what a blessing! What a great part of life.......lots of good times!

I'm going to report to Ry Kihn today on Sunday night's concert in San Fran. Does anyone have the complete setlist? Please and thanks!

Austin, glad you had a good time... I have those picks and I'm pretty sure they came out around SC... I also won some more for that SWTA anniversary drawing we had here in the forum... Unfortunately, those were mediums and I'm a hard pick kind of fella so I don't use them (I use the strap alright!)...

Actually, the JS pick is the only regular size pick I can use now. Everything else feels like a paddle since I switched to Dunlop Jazz III's...

I'm sorry I missed the gig, but as you know I quit my awful job, too... And I had just bought a new mac around the pre-sale time, so I had to draw a line... I could afford the tix I just did think it was a wise move at the moment (too many other expenses also going on)... Hopefully I'll be in better shape for next time... But you never know with me, as I'm a musician with a serious case of Gear Acquisition Syndrome, lol...

BTW guys, I'm selling a Fishman Aura Concert Guitar pedal, if anybody is interested...

More info here!

I used it twice for recording before my acoustic guitar's pre amp died on me so it's in perfect condition...

have class, talk to you peoples later...

Scuba - I didn't say you were a criminal!? I'm sure that technique could be applied to other stuff and come in handy.

Do The Stu - nice review, and a lovely time had by all at SF. LA sounds equally cool with a bonus thrown in for you. Those group shots from SF were missing two people ha ha. Now go read yer emails : )

Igneousiceman - you gonna get Hannibal two out next? The ending's a little, well. The meal is different - stuff the lava beans

Michelle - OMG, what was that!? Had to turn it off, friggin shreek boy. He squealed higher than Joe's artificial harmonics LOL

Gotta Have Joe - congrats. You need to see a Chickenfoot gig to celebrate!

Blue Moon - there were two things missing from SF : -b Nice vid, you make the new guitar sing great

Cheese - sounds AWESOME. Looks good too. How much was the JS at Garys place? So chrispy's moved - nearer to mom, cos that would be cool?

Satchblues - nice post of CF water fight

SkippyGirl - the latest Chromey was supposed to be an improvement over the previous two (less chrome problems) but I don't think it worked out. Wouldn't say no of course!... and thanks for mentioning my pants : -b
