Peace - *I* read your post and completely understand what you are feeling and saying. Sorry you've had ups and downs, and I trust you'll hang on to the knot at the end of the rope, listen to Joe and eventually find yourself swinging from the rafters. That's how it works out for me!
Best to you for whatever festival you celebrate and I hope 2016 is a block buster for you.
Only 78 days until I see Joe. I fist pump.

I finished the book this morning on the way to work. I think it makes a fantastic accompaniment to listening to his work, for new listeners. And for us - it's just icing on the cake. I could have gone for a much more thorough version myself, but I'm not complaining. :)
I tried listening to all of Joe's vocal tracks in a row. That makes for an interesting album on its own, if you haven't tried it. Enjoy.

Enjoy your Meet and Greet, Greg.
This year I have accomplished my third Meet and Greet. I wound up to meet a guy we both happened to meet in the "Satchafunkilus" M&G.
He remembered me because Mick Brigden and his staff missed to bring a camera, and all pictures with Joe were taken with my camera (LOL) Mick gave me the email list of all attendants and I sent their photos to all of them by internet.
The guy still remebered it, so this year we were talking to each other while cueing waiting for Joe to pop up. I brought my JS-140W to be signed and he showed me the book "Strange Beautifull Music" that he wanted signed. I felt quite ashamed to recognize to him that a fan like me hadn't read it so far.
So that's the anecdote that drove me to getting the ebook I'm now just reading

I can't believe I never knew about REEL Satriani (the "documentary") before! "Grab it by the nuts please!" - Glyn. This is amazing to see, a little painful too, you can see that this style of recording is just going against everything Joe has ever known or done before, that said there's no denying that the end result is absolutely bloody amazing, even if it didn't seem like it would be like that along the way? I'm listening to each album along with the time period in the book that was written about it, so cool to be able to do that! Now this. Poor Joe.. you just want to give him a big hug and say "Don't worry man, the album is going to end up being perfect, just have faith Brother!" I'm so glad I got this book and am watching this doc. Bad-ass. Crystal Planet (always one of my all-time favorites) coming up next! Hopefully the recording won't be as tortured for Joe as the eponymous album was!

So, I was diagnosed with Aspergers a couple weeks ago. I'm 45. I've known I was a bit "special" for a while ... and now I have an official opinion. I think I saw a statistic that only 1 in a 1000 people have it, though I suspect it's actually much more common.
For those who haven't seen Parenthood, Aspergers is basically a really good excuse for acting like an inconsiderate a-hole most of the time. But, those affected are usually quite talented within their targeted obsession area. We tend to withdraw from social groups and into our own routines, and there are all varying levels of severity depending upon how successful the person is at coping with the anxieties that they feel - which are usually centered around social confrontation. The internet makes it way easier to be completely alone and still somewhat social. It's definitely helped me through the years.
Once an Aspergers person comes to the realization that this REALLY IS what is happening to them, then they can start to work through the anxiety triggers and really understand themselves a lot better. Just knowing what is happening is a tremendous weight off the shoulders.
Well, I guess it was my turn to share.
What's happening with everyone else who's still hanging around and checking here for updates?

Looks kinda like you're holding a glowing orb of light over Joe's (yours?) guitar.
Magical powers = impressive. :)

xrob that is my guitar that Joe signed and I'm holding my 2nd place poster that he added "Thanks Greg" to above the signature. I was REALLY happy to get Marco & Mike & Bryan to sign it also after the show, now I can get it framed! What a night!!
