I know scubadaz's post was in jest, but I think weather like this just shows how little we know about the earth's clilmate patterns. Maybe the earth has gotten a few degrees warmer in recent years, but is more carbon dioxide really the cause? Our atmosphere is 75% nitrogen, 20% oxygen, a bunch of other stuff, and only 0.04% carbon dioxide. Even if it did go from 0.03% to 0.04% in the last 100 years, can such a small increase really have such a big effect on the temperature?
I'm all for being aware of what we consume and trying to reduce waste...and all numbers aside, smog in LA just looks horrible and it'd be great to have cleaner transportation so the skies here would be clear. But some of these arguments get so much publicity, you'd think there's more carbon dioxide than anything else in our atmosphere. Argh...just something that's been bugging me lately.
Anyway, it's beautiful, sunny, and 67 degrees here in Long Beach today. ;-)
...Austin...

Hey Everyone:
We're having some WInter Storm Watch or Snow Advisory here and they have already closed a lot of school, church, and work-related events tonight. Right now, the temperatures are in the 10s-20s. We also have about 5 inches of snow (as of right now). There will be more snow tonight, but it should let up by tomorrow and the next few days.
Luckily, I have today and tomorrow off so I can just sleep in and take care of some other business.
Yesterday I went out in the cold to go running with my running group. I put in 11.5 miles, which was pretty good.
Earlier today, I signed up online at Sunburst Races and I'm confirmed for the marathon. It's also USATF Certified so that means I have a chance to qualify for Boston (again), but it will be for 2011 I think. The race is not until the first Saturday of June so I do have time to train/condition more. I hope I can qualify.
Cheese 101and Zinc Master: Thanks for the post and link on Joe's upcoming CDs and DVD.
I went ahead and preordered them on Amazon already. OH YEAH!!
Do The Stu: Thanks for the post as well on Joe. Earlier, you mentioned about going out for a jog. Have you done anymore lately? Maybe you should enter in for a jog/run around your area and try out for fun. I'm signed up for three already: One in Indianapolis, one here in Fort Wayne, and (recently) one in South Bend (IN). Who knows, someday I might come out to California and do a run out there.
Michelle: Hope you and your family are prepared when this Winter weather arrives. BTW, good luck to the Eagles in the playoffs against the Cowboys. Maybe they'll have better luck when they meet again.
Skippygirl: I also saw The Hangover and I thought it was funny to. The last movie I saw (in theaters) was Chickenfoot Live. I'm now signed up for three races (check the reading above about Sunburst).

Sooo, I'ma hafta deal with waiting a few extry days for my dvd to arrive. Guess I'll manage somehow >:(
Batten down the hatches all ye who are about to be shat upon by SNOW!!! Stay warm and safe!!
It's been reaching near 50 around here during the middle of the day, kinda nice but kinda eerie....just wondering when the other shoe is gonna drop. Austin, yer charged with soaking up some of that sunshine and sharing with the rest of us, k?

I have a friend who is vegan. I also have gone without meat for a number of times in my life and some folks thought I was a vegetarian, but I'm not.
Michelle: Regarding your post earlier, I have gotten text messages on my phone telling me to send this text or do this for a number of people or something bad will happen. These so-called chain letters are really stupid and I have been deleting them from my phone. I would just delete them if they pop up again.
Cheese101: Tracie, just saw your post. Same here on the waiting, but I don't mind. I'd rather do the online buy because it's fast. There's a lot of stores (including Best Buy) around here that I could walk in and buy, but I rather do it online because there could be lines at stores, and I'm usually working or running, on the days these releases come out so I don't have time. Hope you, Chris, and the family stay warm. The snow is starting to slow down here.

Happy Birthday Mike!
70 something here in Santa Barbara. This is the best time of year here to me. The angle of the sun makes the colors so beautiful. We are growing lettuce. I emailed a picture to my cousin in Toronto. Below zero there.

It's 34 deg C here heading up to 41 deg C for Monday. Sorry to hear about the big freeze in the UK and US hope all T2Jers are OK.
Glitzy - they should give you a wildcard entry into Boston for your running performances already! Good luck with your next ones.
Mikesb - happy birthday mate, as Sammy Hagar says age is juts a state of mind...

Skippygirl: LOL, that would be nice if they did give me a wildcard, but I don't think they have anything of that sort for Boston. I'll have to keep trying until I am able to break 3 hours and 10 minutes. However, there is a lottery that I can be in for the New York City Marathon. Who knows, I might have a chance to get in. Besides, to qualify New York, I have to run 2 hours and 55 minutes; otherwise, I could join a group of some sort and get the chance to run there. I know a lot of business groups do that. I do receive mail from a team/business group called The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (Team In Training). This business team does races all over the U.S. so I could get the chance to run in New York or in any state.
My races will start in the middle of February. I'll let you and everyone know what runs are coming up for me. I'll have my FWTC banquet at the end of January and I can't wait. Bill Rodgers is our guest speaker. He's one of the best U.S. runners and is best known for winning Boston & New York City Marathons in the late 1970s. I can't wait to meet him!

I have been a Dokken/Lynch fan for 20 years and this is a very under rated album. Jon Levin who kicked butt with Warlock/Doro back in the day is an exceptional guitarist. When I first listened to the album I immediately started criticizing and comparing Jon to George Lynch's guitar work. But then I took a step back to think objectively. I listened again and the album absolutely kicks from beginning to end. Then I thought to myself, what was I smokin' the first time around... this is awesome and how could I have missed and overlooked this masterpiece. I guess I was too busy critcizing and comparing the guitar work to Lynch. It has flow, diverse musical influences yet unmistakeably classic DOKKEN style, killer licks, riffs, vocals, lyrics,...refreshing and a total package. After listening a few times I rate all songs at least 9 out of 10 (Most are 10s). Yes, the Lynch guitar solos influence is there, but what do you expect...Lynch was one of Jon's guitar heroes back in the 80s. Personally, I think Jon has the potential to be an overall better guitarist, but may be a bit too modest to realize it. I saw Dokken play at JAXX - a small night club in Springfield, VA last year...talked to Jon after the show, got a guitar pick and autographed CD by all members. The only thing I didn't like about the album is the CD cover artwork (I had to find something wrong for the skeptics). Come on Don, you could have done better than that...it looks too cartoonish...but thats O.K. I can live with it. The contents more than make up for the cover. I too hope that Don keeps this lineup, especially Jon. Check out some of the old Warlock and Doro work too (Jon is only on one album though - Force Majeure). At a minimum check out Doro's recent live DVD concert which covers all the great Warlock/Doro stuff. I don't recognize the band members who currently play with her, but they rock! Her music rocks! Her voice is pure, strong, hypnotic, melodic, hard with edge and she just kicks butt! Period!!!! And she still looks as fine as she did 20 years ago!!!! German goddess!!!! Anyway...back to Dokken....and sorry for going off on a tangent. If you are a Dokken fan, especially old school Dokken from 80's this is the one to get. Refreshing yet without the appearance of rehashing old school 80's metal. Just right and just what is needed given today's music climate (or lack thereof). If you are a halfway decent guitarist (or aspire to be one) or have any appreciation for this music genre then you will not be disappointed.
