Hey Joe, I was wondering, i'm a left handed guitar player and i really really want one of your guitars but i wouldnt be able to reach the bottim frets. Do you have a Ibanez JS series in left handed? If you dont, can you make some? cause i'm a really really big fan and all i play is your songs and chickenfoot. and it would be really nice to play one of your songs on one of your guitars with one of your picks.

P.S. - I was at your show at Massey Hall in Toronto in 2008, i met you outside. Man was that a dream come true!

Argh...I'm going crazy without a job. Does anyone have one for me?

GoldenGirl2 - Congrats on finally catching up...haha. Makes you never want to leave again, doesn't it? ;-)
Blue_Moon - I want that video of you doing that EITS song...get back on it!

I'm seeing them in LA in a few weeks. And, actually, they'll be in Ireland later this year. Are you going?

http://www.explosionsinthesky.com/shows.php

Listening to: Dredg - The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion (current song: Long Days And Vague Clues)

I think this is my favorite album of the year so far. I just bought it Tuesday and I've probably listened to it 15 times since then. People here should give them/it a listen.

EDIT - Haha...and the album is on the same song it was when I made a post Tuesday saying I was listening to this. Anyway...

OK so I leave work early and go into JB HiFi, look around every part of the store, go to the counter and ask the skinny boy in the skinny jeans with the hair hanging straight down his face to his chin (felt like peaking under the curtain to talk to him) so I ask where the Chickenfoot CD is and he says "yeah I think I put some of those out a coupla hours ago they came in today" and wanders off.

I follow him round the store to a shelf labelled "alternative" and there's 5 copies of the CD.

Aussies - can I just check with you if your local store had something different? This is a cardboard CD cover, no heat sensitive nothin', it folds out in 3 leaves with a picture of the band inside (Joe sitting on a couch), no plastic CD cover, and it's $20?

I said, "Where's the vinyl LP?" - the kid looks at me blankly for a second and says "We don't do vinyl" LMAO!

I have to go to the Bourke St store apparently that is the only store that will have the LP.

Hmmmmm .............hey at least it's Friday night yay!

Do The Stu - just wanted to let you know i appreciated the info about BBTW >=:) i hope my post didn't come across as sarcastic... it was meant to be funny, but then i started thinking (which can hurt) maybe it coulda been read wrong.

i'm ituneless :( i'm too lazy to get an ipod and learn all that download stuff... i'm amazed i'm able to get myself to download from livemetallica.com >=;) i'm hopeless at ripping cds....just checked JB HiFi's site out... they have the Foot album on there site but not in stock. i wonder if they'll have any copies instore??

damn you mark london i believe the Cusack Music Screamer V2 is the bees knees over the fulltone ocd, im digging it, i hwas looking for a tubescreamer esque pedal with more gain and this seems to do the job, rave reviews and sounds amazing, pair that up with a fulldrive and its freaking cool

is there that much more gain in it than a tubescreamer, i persume its less than the ocd though

and yes a lewis ill get right on that! i forget lotsa the parts =/

Skippy -Dontcha just love how some people just have no clue? No heat sensitive cover? I walked out of the store into the heat with mine and you could see the whole picture. So yours isn't black until you touch it?

Austin- I know jobs are tough right now but have you tried something in maybe public relations? Seems like you have good communication and people skills.

Happy Friday, everyone...two Satch-related links:

- Prefix Magazine has a short thing on the Coldplay lawsuit, with video from CNN. There are a few quotes from the Chickenfoot guys at last week's signing. No word on Coldplay's next album, though. ;-)

- KNAC has a very long and very good interview with Joe...he talks about all things Chickenfoot.

Skippygirl - Aside from the cover, the CD packaging here in the US is the same as you've described. If you download the digital booklet from the Chickenfoot site, there's a note that says only the first run of the album has the heat-sensitive cover. I guess none of those made it down to Australia? That stinks...argh. Maybe the band will bring some with them if (or when, hopefully) they tour down there early next year?

I'll take some pictures of my CD and vinyl soon, and upload them with the few shots I got outside Best Buy...

BigBunny - No, your post didn't come across as sarcastic...nothing to worry about. ;-) When my posts get super long, as I think my one after your comment was, I sometimes don't reply to everyone. You didn't offend me or anything like that...

You've been away for a while, so...have you discovered any new music lately? Old music? Gone to any good concerts? Anything?

burly - A job in public relations would be great...it certainly pays better than the kind of journalism I was doing. Unfortunately, though, those jobs are impossible to come by as whenever there's an opening it seems every journalist in the area applies. So the competition is tough, but it's definitely something I'm looking into. Thanks for the suggestion...

Tour dates for September are coming next week. I hope for an early September date in St. Louis or Memphis. If it's late Sept. harvest will be here and there is not much way to sneak away to St. Louis. I might be able to swing Memphis. My offer still stands for the Kansas City show. Spread the word if anyone knows someone who got up fronters that would trade out for a duck hunt. August 11 is a perfect time for me to get away. The rice is finished and I usually pull the flood off at that time to prepare for harvest. I didn't attempt to buy KC tics. I guess I need to join the fanclub to take advantage of the pre sale. What about meet and greets on this leg of the tour? does anyone know details?

Many greetings

Austin - thanks for the link to the interview with Joe I really enjoyed that, particularly the last part about the Canadian girl who gave him the Hagstrom.

I did download the digital book but missed the bit about the limited heat-sensitive covers - bugger, bit disappointed really, they could have sent some to Oz FFS we are a sizable market I would have thought. Feels like we just got the leftovers.

And I can't see the CD on itunes to download either......only roo's app.

On another note, was out with our journo buddies last weekend and they mentioned that alot of journos here go to work for not-for-profits before they transition to PR/corporate comms roles, might be worth a thought Austin. You know I'm a Mum.

burly - morning buddy, hope you get to see a Foot gig somewhere, if you do could you pls say hi to Joe from me? And lots a pics would be great.

Overwhelmed and excited....

Keep listening to Chickenfoot....there isn't a song on there that I don't like, it ALL kicks ass in various ways...and it is very hard to pick a favorite, if I even have to....

But gotta say that Future In The Past is grabbing hold of me...there's something....epic? is that the word I'm looking for? in that song. I can't explain it but it's amazing.

Love the whole album, each song is unique, and I hope these guys make MORE albums together, they have magic and chemistry and I can't wait to see what comes next!! Not that I'm rushing them, lol....just hope to see more albums from these guys because for me, this is SOOOOO good!!

Thanks Joe for taking this step, this leap of faith, and for doing what YOU want to do as you've always done. Not that my opinion matters even the teeniest bit but....you've never let me down with your choices :) Love ya and see you in Atlantic City!!!

scuba: So you like the mag then? ;) All fair and valid points there....I slightly disagree, but what the ghey! :)
Heat sensitive cover doesn't do that much here in sunny sunny summer England....(that was sarcasm there....)

Quote from a friend when I played him Chickenfoot: 'take one red chilli add 2 parts van halen and 1 satriani and stir well = 1 chickenfoot'

Personally, the song that stands out the most for me at the mo is Learning To Fall. Oh, and My Kinda Girl. And Oh Yeah. Dammit....oh well, they're all good!

Listening to: Learning To Fall by Chickenfoot...Suffering From: Hay Fever (a.k.a the Sniffles and itchyeyetis)
