Wow! Joe at the Greek Theatre?! Amazing!

I would love to go.......it all depends on how my Steve is doing. The tests at Stanford for him seem endless.......Gotta see a way to make this happen. We haven't been to the Greek since 1980 when we saw Carlos Santana.......my first concert in the bay area since I moved north for good in the summer of 1979.

Do the Stu---Not close enought to Twitter and my windows mail went down.......too many things to do and too many distractions.........Once again.......I'm experiencing STRANGE and CRAZY together......Oh, hell! I'm picking up my guitar as backward as an acoustic is and play it even though my fingers hurt because I have to press so hard.......maybe I should stay with 4 strings by taking up the bass. Six strings is a tangle at times. My fingers are prone to arthritis and my left pinkie locks up at times. This is something I noticed way back when playing the violin when I was in 4th or 5th grade. My right hand is too flighty and won't stay with the appropriate strings. What's this stupid red bump on my middle finger knuckle nearest my fingernail?.....gotta have it checked out....I am learning power chords.....dang! I know I'm twice your age, but I could use a little help here.....I wish I had your energy........Geeze, I hope you get a job real soon. You deserve the credit, recognition, and reward for being the great Austin that you are!

Michelle--I'm grateful you have a job as crazy as it is. PA must be a tough as nails place to work.

I hope more jobs are created this month and in the coming months ahead. For those of you who have jobs, please do your very best and keep them.......and those who create jobs have to realize how valuable people are and RESPECT boundaries such as sick days........my supervisor came to work back in 1989 or 1990 with the flu and fever.......she said she couldn't afford to take a day off......stupid contractor needed her to be in a meeting........I was horrified...as disfunctional as my family was, my mom kept me home from school and any going out when I was ill. I missed birthday parties and hanging out with friends when I was sick because my mom wanted me to get well and not spread slimely stuff around. It was wise then and it is still wise now. Please respect yourself and others by staying home and going to the doctor to get checked out. Do what the doctor says, that's why you consult him/her. I know this is gonna get me in hot water with workaholics.....well, I'm not looking for trouble, but I know there are ppl who will disagree with me.....sad to say. ;-/

cmgio - Download a trial version of PowerTab or GuitarPro and then look for a file on the internet for The Crush Of Love. Those programs have an option where you can see the actual sheet music.

Blue_Moon - How's the finger?
Pip Satrini - It's great to hear that about In-N-Out...haha. Was it one of the hosts on the show who had been there, or did someone call in and suggest it?

I know it's local for me, but I really do think it's the best burger in the US. I've lived in several places across the country and it really is the best I've had. If you don't believe me, ask marimariSRV or matt king...I've taken them there each once when they were visiting CA and they loved it. :-)

michelle - Wow...I can't imagine how much that laser removal will hurt. Think she'll be able to sleep through that, too?

And I know I've been rough on EVH in the past, but I think he's right to sue Nike. His design is copyrighted and he uses it on shoes, so I think it's obvious there's some copying going on.

At the same time, though, I think Converse might have a case against EVH. I've seen someone wearing those shoes and I actually thought they were a Converse EVH style. I don't know if anyone can "own" that kind of shoe, though...Keds look kind of similar and I bet there are other brands that do, too.

KeiKun - Hi...welcome to the site! Thanks for sharing your story...

Have you had a chance to see Joe in concert?

burly - I like HSAS a lot, but that's one of the few Sammy-related albums I still need to buy. Do you have Sammy's Red Voodoo album? A song on there, The Love, is a reworked version of a song he did with HSAS, Since You Came. It was played live back then but didn't make the album...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZIqnYI4sZU

GoldenGirl2 - If you have arthritis, bass will be much more difficult than guitar...the thinnest bass string is usually around the same size as the thickest guitar string. And the thickest bass string can be twice that size.

I think your best bet might be to look for a nylon string guitar...that might be easier on your fingers.

axeshredderjc - Thanks for the Best Buy reminder...I'll stop by some local stores later this week.

Burly: On the Triumph front.....I got my Ibanez just before a Triumph concert that night in 1980 in Seattle! The biggest downer was the record company that sent out defective albums a few years later. It took them quite a while to cange over to cd's. I still don't have a good copy of Sport of Kings album. Ric is doing acoustic stuff now. At the concert I went to the Bass player Mike Lavine picked up a stainless steel pick i thru up on stage during the "Blinding Light Show" and played a solo with it! Mike did not sing. He was the producer and only Ric and Gil sang. In later albums they both sang together! Rock line had them on and asked about Mike not singing......Ric said the "World is not ready for that!" No problem....the bass palying and producing were enough. Mike also did the music producing for "Cold case" show that just got canceled.

Austin- Don't have Red Voodoo I need to get it as well as the HSAS record. I woke up this morning with their version of Whiter Shade of Pale in my head, and had really stuck the memory of that project in the dusty corners of my mind, don't know why as Neal is one of my many favorites. But that is the kind of thing that always exited me musically was for my favorite artists to team up for these type projects.

Randell- Mike is really a gifted musician despite coming off as "Spinal Tappish" on stage at times. Part of the act.

Nima- welcome from America. There are some Americans who understand what is going on with your country and that there are good people everywhere. May you be blessed and enjoy the music.

Rockline in 15 minutes...woohoo!

paiize - Hi...welcome! You speak English just fine, don't worry about that. :-)

You say rock music isn't very popular in Iran, so I'm wondering how you first heard Joe's music...? It's always nice to hear stories from new fans...

burly - Do you have many/any of Sammy's post-VH albums? If not, I'd actually suggest starting with Ten 13 (his third after VH). That's my all-time favorite of his.

GoldenGirl2 - Yes alen and unconventional. I think everything I have ever seen or read about Buckethead is he's just somewhere off in his own land. Hell, when you get kicked out of an interview by Ozzy Ozbourne you know there's something crazy with you. LOL.

I think the guy is brilliant though. He really knows how to compose music. Jordan was my first experience with Buckethead. He's been hard for me to follow too closely because he's so obscure.

Hey, I was digging through the archives trying to find when (if) Jeff had posted on T2J. I have a recollection he had, but wanted to confrim. Can anyone point me to his login ID/author_ID or archived page where he posted?

Did the Bissonnettes, Jonathan or others ever post here?

I found Stooo and Eric no problem.

Rockline went well...it wasn't a call-in show this time., but I still think it was a great interview. They played just about every song from the album, either in full or as bumper music going into/out of commercials. They also played music from the guys' other bands as bumper music too.

They didn't really cover anything that we haven't already heard from other interviews or podcasts, but I think it was a good show for the "average" fans who were probably listening.

Some favorite quotes I heard:

"I'm gonna have a year off, and that was almost two years ago." - Chad, telling Sammy about an opening in his schedule for the band

"One genius and the three idiots" - Chad, on Joe and the rest of the band

"Any dark, warm, moist, place" - Chad, on where you can put the album to make the cover change colors

"Hey I wonder what would happen if you peed on it? It might clarify everything right then and there." - Sammy, on the album cover

I think the greatest one-liner of the night came when Bob (the host) was asking about the future, and he said everyone had other projects they were working on...I don't know who it was, but someone in the background yelled "We do?" and everyone started laughing.

Sammy then made a crack about the band going "Until we wanna kill Chad" for his obligations with the RHCP. Then Chad asked why you can't be in more than one band at once. I think at least half the band would like to ask a certain guitarist they used to work with that same question. But I won't get into that. ;-)
