And I'm off to Best Buy. I need the new Dream Theater and the Mars Volta albums. Has anyone else here bought either of them yet?

I'll comment on the April Fools Day in June, er, Joe's switch to Marshall, when I'm back. What the...?

elpp, justjoan, mikesb--Sorry if I affended you. ;-/

LOOK AT MY PREVIOUS POST FOR EDIT!

I'm under a lot of stress right now with uncertainties about my Steve---are we goin' to have to go through the whole thing again at Stanford--installing 5 screw/posts in his scalp...CT scan.....then back into the O.R. for surgery at which time they remove the posts from his scalp......will he bleed uncontrollably again??? Will he have other complications on the operating table??? Steve is a unique patient and is not a sheep in the medical industrial complex of the USA.......Damn it!! HMOs, PPOs....all the insurance crap in the system will not make Steve whole!! He requires a primary care doctor with UNLIMITED time to see him......At least 30 to 45 minutes! He can't be given the rush, rush times that HMO doctors have under their tight, tight insurance systems/M.O.'s. EPILEPSY AND DEPRESSION ARE HELL ON EARTH! How can I state this in a more clear manner???

DEATH CUBE K--Thanks for understanding, man.......Canada, Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Good ol' Canadian common sense!!!

Alan--The luni is still here even though mauled by M & T!

I'm crying ;-( When I screw up, I'm cryin'.....even if you can't hear me or see me.

btw--I'm on Twitter now with a learning curve. Tough times practicing guitar!! I hope Ry forgives me.

GV--Hi Dutch Broeder......Tough times.......fewer posts. Email is better.

Webmaster John--Sorry about the double post. Thank you for the latest info on Joe's gigs. It would be wonderful to meet him.....even in the fog and rain.....just tough to see my way through the walls of health issues I'm facing at this time. I wish I had the strength to hold myself up like Joe did when he had pneumonia a few years ago when he was on tour. It's different facing a chronic health condition that wears one down over time (such as depression/epilepsy). Facing an acute health issue is tough; however, most people recover fully from such things as our friend, Joe Satriani did...Thank God!! (Enough about spirituality......don't know why.....it scares some ppl...sadly). Must see a light at the end of the tunnel.......sunlight is constant....never fails. How blessed ppl are for following Joe and friends!!!

scubadaz - I notice that in the US, too, with the people who sign up on the attendance list...it's a little weird, but in the end I don't have a problem with it. It doesn't say anywhere that you need to have enough time to post on a message board to be considered a fan, you know?

There's maybe five or so people that I've been recognizing at the last few Satch shows in the LA area (we talk at shows and occasionally stand together). They're die-hards just like us, and some of them go to multiple shows per tour...but I've asked them to join T2J multiple times and it doesn't happen. I guess the message board just isn't for some people. Nothing really wrong with that...

Skippygirl - "Do bands take their gear with them ... ? How would all Joe's guitars actually get around on the European tour? Cargo?"

It depends on the band, and the tour, but it's expensive for a band to ship their gear from the US to Europe or Australia. When Dream Theater tours Australia and Asia, for example, they usually use a scaled-down production (smaller drum kit, fewer lights and videos, etc.) to save money.

I do know that sometimes it takes a long time, like several weeks, for stuff to be shipped. The drums Chad used on the Tonight Show are different from the ones he used on the Road Test tour...if I had to guess, it's probably because those were already packed up and on their way to Europe.

Guitarvibes - The aftershow winners were announced three days ahead of time (according to the US clock) in the past...it doesn't look like that scheduling has changed. I think that whole system is automated through the website here.

And FYI, there is another manager (Sammy's?) doing stuff on this tour...but Mick was traveling with Joe and the band on the Road Test tour and at the Best Buy event, so I think he's also still involved with everything.

Pip Satrini - Thanks for the Chickenfoot YouTube links. I might email you about a related something in a bit...

"All signs point to yes" is a standard answer on magic eight balls (in the US, anyway)...I haven't seen it on anything Chickenfoot-related, though. I was only making a joke. Sorry to confuse your list. ;-)

And shame on you for not adding yourself just because there wasn't an aftershow contest...haha. ;-)

Clark44 - Yes, Joe has said he hopes to continue releasing solo albums. I think it's still too early to tell when the next one will be coming, though.
Guitarvibes / Ethn Hayabusa - I'm almost done with my first DT listen. I like it a lot...it's way better than Systematic Chaos. I'd rank it in the top half of their releases, I think, but it's still to early to know just where it'll fall.

I think the band comes close to becoming a parody of itself in a few spots, but they never actually cross the line.

I'm liking this a lot...

And a separate post for the Peavey / Marshall stuff...

I was just watching a piece of LISF on YouTube a few days ago and thought it'd be nice to hear that sound again, as a short-term change. Who would've thought...? ;-)

In addition to the reasons others have already mentioned, this move surprises me because Michael Anthony was using Peavey amps on the tour as well. Peavey put out a press release mentioning both Satch and Anthony on June 8...that's now been edited to remove Joe, which I guess makes sense (go here for the original, until Google refreshes).

The switch is a big surprise, but I'd bet it's only for this tour cycle...I don't think it would affect his Peavey line. If his Peavey deal is similar to his Ibanez one, he isn't contractually obligated to play their stuff on stage.

Maybe he'll be back next year with a larger amp from Peavey that thas some of the qualities he likes from the JSX 50? Hmmm...

Hmmm...I saw that Peavey pulled some Satch promo quotes out of the press release, but I didn't notice they cropped him out of the picture.

To be honest though, that's not what bugs me...and it shouldn't really bug any of us (unless there's more to the story than what we know). The purpose of the press release is to promote the people in Chickenfoot who are using Peavey gear...and right now Mike is the only one using Peavey. Press releases don't mention rival endorsements...that'd defeat the purpose.

What does bug me is that the way this looks now, Satriani isn't even in Chickenfoot. It either needs to be further edited to remove the references to Sammy (who uses Crate) and Chad, or edited to at least say Satch is in the band.

I imagined that he was using Marshall just for convenience on the european tour.Maybe it's a little far fetched, but I know that shipping costs are ridiculous.

If he really is switching companies, then I would love to see him playing good stuff like THD, Bogner, Dr.Z, Fuchs or something.Enough of the typical stuff.
