Hello to Joe (or anyone of influence reading this)

I joined both the Chickenfoot club and Sammy's 1013 club to take advantage of the chance to buy tickets early, as advertised. The "Road Test" tour skipped my town, but I was excited to see Cleveland added on Aug 15 for the main tour.

However, the show at the Rock Hall is now being billed as a "free show." This actually STINKS for fans like myself, because now even though I won't have to buy a ticket, I'll have to compete with casual fans and curious concertgoers and vie for positioning for a chance to see my heroes live.

In short, the $40 spent for the Chickenfoot club has been a waste (and no, I still haven't received the shirt). Isn't there anything someone can do to make that particular show in Cleveland worthwhile for the fans who PAID for the privilege of getting a little something extra, but will now be regulars in the cattle call like everyone else?

Footday for me was Saturday 6th, so not too bad. LOVIN IT.... it sounds just like it should from the ingredients!

Do The Stu - interesting about the Seymour Dunc pups in the chromey on LISF. I didn't realise that. Guess that would make it easy to spot (if they were still in it)... or did Joe have to scratch the SD logos off? LOL

Thanks for posting the archive site stuff - I remember those. I was a bit late coming on to signin up and T2J ... and finally, is that the Seinfeld restaurant on your Mspace?

Skippygirl - "pip my lovely".... where did that come from? I'll take it though ha ha. Cool that you picked up seville, was that from Roo's link?

Roo (& Skippy) - is vegemite like Marmite?

Igneousiceman - the stage antics involved Devin Townsend asking for a volunteer on stage to sing. I seem to recall Devin ended up wearing a nappy and the volunteer singer eventually got pinned to the deck and had some... er... "simulation" enacted on him. Most people found it amusing (probably relief it wasn't them), I think it just confused my Mum lol

Burly - thanks for the link. You should try this one ha ha. I have that phone, yet to test that function though LMAO

General limit over here is 60, with 70 on motorways. Maybe you can get rid of some of the 55 frustration on your NASCAR day. The Gibson smash was not cool eh!

mikesb - ha ha, nice one. Did you have to search for long to find Gunther!?

Cheese - oh, fanfire... they're good aren't they. Joe, time to change companies methinks! Erm, I dont think I made any smart arse remarks to ya... I too scay-erd to do that lol Seriously though, nothin that I can think of right now (runs off to search all recent posts and hit edit button lol) That's really cool for Chris... did you take vids like you said?

michelle - "He also had some rockin' moves that had me raising my eyebrows and thinking some filthy dirty thoughts" ..... cold shower for you dear! Bitten by the wolf is Joe's subtle hint to us that HE is wolf : )

Scuba - the vocal delivery on "Down the drain" reminds me of RHCP's Give it Away

Blimey, 15 pages an I'm caught up already... cool

Joe,

I've been an unwavering & dedicated fan since the first time I heard your music which was on a radio station in Escondido CA in August 1988 - it was like an epiphany. Don't let the Coldplay thing eat at you. You are so better than that. Thanks for the gift of an incredible discograghy of electric guitar songs, melodies, riffs, phrases, tones, SOUNDS.....that bring tears of joy to my eyes, tears of the blues to my eyes, and goosebumps. How fortunate I feel in my lifetime to have had the gift of your music, combine that with the body of work of Jimi, and who could ask for more.

Does anyone know if there's a two-ticket limit on fanclub presale ticket purchases tomorrow? I know that was the case for the Road Test tour, but I don't see any limit mentioned anywhere this time around.

Also, I thought I saw the ticket packages had a two ticket limit, but I'm looking now and don't see any restriction there either.

I might be traveling to a show (Chicago?) but I'd need three tickets...if I can't get them during the presale I'll wait until the regular on-sale.

I can understand why the Road Test tour had a limit, but I don't think this tour needs one.

Anyone?

Pip, I did take some vids and stuff of Chris, I'll get them up on my youtube here eventually :) He did pretty darn good! And u shud be afraid.......

Austin....we'd all like ta know the answer to that question too, as well as what are the packages this time around so we don't make more silly mistakes....aaaaaand what the other show dates are gonna be. When I first read the premium ticket packages it said two-ticket limit on those. Soooo, yer guess is as good as mine about the regular tix. And presale is supposed to be tomorrow, WE NEED INFO!!!

It would be nice to get my fan club t shirt too, or t-shirts since I don't think my double fanclub membership ever got fixed. Fanfire so often does a piss-poor job with their customer service!! Sigh.....

Chicago?? O.o

It's Les Paul's birthday today.

Joe and Les from October '08

2nd edit: The Chickenfoot album rocks. I thought Soap and Down the Drain were ok, by which I mean good, (as previews), but they got nothing on Turning left and Get it up!

Just saw a story on CNN about Joe and Coldplay. I do hope Cat Stevens realizes that the similarities between his song and Joes song are minimal compared to the similarities of Joes song and Coldplays song.

Yes there is a decent similarity between the melodies and some of them musical verses....but rhythms are different and the vocal melody is nothing like it and totally different tempo.

But hey, keep at it Joe, if you made CNN international, you're rocking some boats...won't be long now!

I am looking forward to the Cork shows gona rock! gona have a great few days with some cool music and my birthday too, so lots of fun!

I think Cat Stevens has more of a case for the Coldplay nonsence which people still are unfortunatly going on about! ...check here... and skip to about 5.20 or so... wait for the lyrics to come in... much more of a case i think

Do the Stu - I really like Shake Me like a Monkey. But I am not really sure about the rest of the album. Of course I am an infant when it comes to my knowledge of DMB, so I don't have a ton to compare it to. So how cool was the signing at Bestbuy overall? Did Mikey and Sammy shoot the bull with you or were you getting rushed through as quickly as possible?

I was listening to the cd on my way home the other night with the top down...and I was listening to My Kind of Girl, and I was thinking, Man, this is kick ass summer time rock! DTS, it really is great driving music.

Cheese 101 - I'm with you on the Chickenfoot album. I can't pick a favorite song. Everytime I think I've got a favorite, I listen to another song and then I'm thinking, Man I really like that one a lot too!! The album takes a lot of different directions. I really like that. You're not just hearing the same beat and rythm song after song. It's unpredictable, but flows very well.

I've been following the Chickenfoot thing with interest. It looks like everyone is having great fun - and if thats the purpose - great. However, as a rock band, its just not organized or good (together) enough. I think Joe should be driving that band to something more unique and melodic. Joe is key to his own success here and can become the huge star he always should have been. As tough as it is - he is the one that has to focus and drive it forward if they are to last. I know its a pilot but it has a lot of potential to really make that type of rock music popular again.

Just my thoughts.

Ronnie

I got a Chickenfoot tour email a few minutes ago (I'm sure we all did) and it doesn't say anything about fanclub ticket limits during the presale. So I'll assume we're OK. When someone (Tracie? michelle?) buys tickets for an east coast show tomorrow, can you let us know if there are any restrictions? Thanks!

Happy new music day, everyone! Dredg's The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion was released today...go buy it.
scubadaz - myriad pronounced meer-re-add, it means lots of different stuff belonging to the same thing in the descriptive sense e.g a myriad of colours.

The journalism nerd in me needs to tell you that "of" isn't needed, so all you need to say is something like "the painting contains myriad colors". See, I have to do this on T2J when I don't have a job...haha. ;-)

On Aerosmith, yeah, it really bugs me that they don't really write music together anymore. It also bugs me that they go on tour each summer instead of working on a new album. It stinks, but I'll take this instead of the alternative (nothing).

This is random, but I'll share my favorite Steven Tyler vocal performance. It's not from an Aerosmith song, but from Elmopalooza, a CD of Sesame Street songs performed by pop and rock stars that was released about 10 years ago. Steven sang I Love Trash.

burly - Soap On A Rope sounds great on the album...I like it better this way instead of a stand-alone song (a single). I agree that it might be my "speeding ticket" song, too...especially that jam at the end!

I love the studio version of Bitten By The Wolf...I think it came across a bit sloppy live, but it sounds great on the album. My problem now is I can't decide whether I like the album with BBTW at the end, as a bonus, or between Down The Drain and My Kinda Girl like when they played live. I wish all of life's problems were this difficult. ;-)

castle49 - Thanks for the Dick Dale reminder...money is a bit tight right now, but I'll see if I can make it up there for a show...
Pip Satrini - Yes, that's Tom's Restaurant from Seinfeld. I went there when I was in New York a few years ago for Dream Theater's Score CD and DVD recording and posed for that shot (assuming you're talking about the photo with me in it).

I've been out there twice since then, and on one trip I took a photo of what the rest of the block looks like. And here was my meal...delicious milkshake!

hybes - I actually didn't get to talk to Mike or Sammy at all, which kinda bugged me. Joe and Chad were so willing to talk to me that I was rushed through...the Best Buy people would literally grab your album on the table and hand it to the next guy.

As an aside, I now have autographs of all three former members of Van Halen (I met Gary Cherone at a Who tribute gig he did with Mike Portnoy, Paul Gilbert, and Billy Sheehan a few years ago).

FabLawyer of SBM - It's good to see you here again...

I love the Chickenfoot album, but I do see lots of room for improvement...I hope we get another album or two from them soon. I'll post more in-depth thoughts later, but basically I'd like to see Sammy step it up a bit with his lyrics, and I'd like to see him play guitar on the album as well. And I'd like something with a bit more of a "live" feel...I think I can hear where most overdubs are on the album, and that bugs me a bit.

Listening to: Dredg - The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion (current song: Long Days And Vague Clues)
