16 August is my birthday........it will also be a good day to die!

So many Baby Boomers in this world.....if one leaves the planet, it's NO BIG DEAL! Unless the husband, sisters, nieces, nephew and friends protest in the strongest of ways!

The Santa Clara City Library can REPLACE me with a younger worker........there are a lot of 20 somethings in school who need the money and have much more energy!

The youngins are restless and have boundless energy! I feel much older than almost 53!

Happy birthday to whoever has her birthday today! I can't say a name or I'll get in trouble!

Joe...........It's a rough life out here in upside down land. My mental health is not good......and I caught a throat infection while in the hospital. Silly me!

Fell in with an AA group just before I was discharged at H2 unit in Stanford. Interesting ppl.

I've had quite an eventful 24 hours, it all started with a soccer game yesterday afternoon in which I blew out something on my left shoulder while making a goalie save, a hard shot towards the bottom left corner that made me stretch out beyond my reach. But hey at least I saved the shot! Right now I cannot lift my left arm beyond my waist, doctor says it's very likely a torn muscle, no signs of bone damage. It totally sucks to drive a stick with only one arm...

Specially drunk! Instead of going to the doctor last night I stayed after the game to drink with my teammates, we ended up going to a billiards hall (and yes, I played with one arm!! haha) and then to the bar district, got home around 4 am, had about 8 beers but was sober by the time I got home, thank God for spicy chicken wings!! Slept only 2 hours because the shoulder pain was intense, now I'm all medicated and plastered in ointments.

Looking forward to the next 24 hours, I'm going to watch my former soccer teammates play with their new team and then I'll hit a local metal bar that I like. These are the advantages of being single again! Cheers!!!

Campbell--Depression is an ongoing chronic condition and certain emotions/anxieties/fears trigger an emotional breakdown. Thankfully the throat infection is being treated with antibiotics and will clear up soon.

Scubz, I'll tell my age every day if ya want me to. I'm happy to be 45. When I was 28 I had a neighbor Brenda who was also 28. She had 2 little girls, both under 3 years old when she was diagnosed with some sort of horrible fast moving cancer. Don't think she lasted 8 months from diagnosis to death. Anyways, I swore that in her honor I'd never complain about my age. I mean, it's just so stupid to bitch about aging. The only other alternative is death, and I'm not down with that just yet. So...I'm 45 and loving (almost) every minute of it! lol!

One of my bosses at work has been leaving notes on my locker or on the calandars for the last 10 years that say "Happy 50th Birthday Michelle!" If I'm still there when I'm 50, he'll prolly change it to 70 or something. lol!

Thanks burly, elpp (feel better soon), cosmic ape, & Milli

castle49 - HB to your hubs.

mikesb - HB to your daughter what a great experience and yes a very wise move to not reveal her location.

M - HB mate, sounds like a lovely brekkie. Somehow we must get to a Foot of Joe-show together :>). We're the same age and I agree with you about it.

T - Lord you can belt out a tune can't ya? LMAO.

BigBunny - lets all cross everything and hope a ChickenfootOz tour is still a possibility...

Guitarman77897 - congrats on the new toy, I look forward to seeing you play it and for Do The Stu's response :>)

burly - hi buddy

GG2 - HB for the 16th (which it is here in Oz). Keep your chin up.

elpp - ouch! Sounds like you were trying to be Mark Schwarzer. I reckon the beer helped the pain though.

Skippygirl: Just read Mark's Wikipedia entry, he's had quite a career! So has Australia qualified for next year's World Cup? I am kind of wishing Mexico does not qualify, the national team is a rotten mess and requires a major cleanup, which will only happen if they don't make it into the Cup. Otherwise they'll keep believing their method works.

Thanks for the good wishes (u too Michelle), medication seems to be doing its thing, pain is subsiding although I still can't move the arm much. As long as I can sleep better tonight! After beers of course :)

I'm a bit jealous of ppl who can take prescription pain killers like Vicodin & Percoset & stuff like that. If I don't have a huge meal in my stomach when I take one of them, I'm sick for days. Last time I took one I thought a snack would be enough just to get something in my stomach. Noooo. I was stupid sick for three days! I had dental work done, and my tooth hurt soo bad. Took one pill after dinner and it helped, so I figgered I'd take another before bed. I was super nauseous for three days & missed work, and on the third day I yawned and my jaw dislocated. It felt like somebody was stabbing me in the side of my throat in case anybody wonders what it feels like. lol! Didn't hurt in my jaw. I called my husband to tell him to come home and take me to the ER, and while I was talking to him - in an extremely high pitch I might add - it slipped back in. NEVER let the dentist (HA! or anyone else for all that matters - lmao!) make you open yer mouth wider than what is comfortable for you. It stretched out the ligaments in my jaw and made them weak, so the first time I yawned, my jaw slipped out of place. Ouch!

WTF am I on about?

Jager...a little dab'll do ya! lmao!!

Sucks I gotta work tomorrow.

Skiip, come on over! The more, the merrier! lmao! I mean SkiPPy ;-)

Hey, everyone. My internet is still out in Long Beach, but I'm in NorCal visiting my family now so I'll have access for the next few days.

I'll catch up a little later, but I wanted to make a quick post to say everyone needs to go see It Might Get Loud. Go here to find out when it'll be playing at a theater near you.

I saw Led Zepagain last night, for probably my 10th time. They were celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Knebworth festival, and they played that set in full (some of which appears on the LZ DVD that was released a few years back). I had a great time...the version of Achilles Last Stand they did is the best I've heard from them.

Stairway To Heaven was dedicated to Les Paul (Jim Wooten, the band's John Paul Jones, is Les Paul's nephew). It was a bit of a shock...this is how I found out he had died, because I've been without internet access (out of the loop, again...haha). But it was a great tribute, even if it's played on a doubleneck SG instead of an LP. ;-)

A Van Halen tribute band opened...they're called Fan Halen and they did nothing for me. They dressed like classic VH and it looked quite laughable. The music was good, but they sounded like a bar band covering VH and I just couldn't get into them. They're nothing like Led Zepagain.

I did like their version of You Really Got Me, though...during the breakdown they went into to solo section from Beat It. I thought that worked well. But as a whole, I didn't like 'em. They made a point of saying they only did classic (DLR-era) Van Halen, which I found funny because their DLR-clone lead singer had the Sammy-era VH logo tattooed on his arm.

Anyway, that's all from me for now.

michelle - Happy birthday, again! But you sound much to sober in your last post...what's wrong? ;-)

EDIT - And, you posted again while I was writing this one...I was referring to the earlier one, but this is more like it! Haha...

Taking my mp3 player in with me 2mo. Helps me not to kill people before the store opens. lol! Makes the day sooo much nicer too!

Who works on Sunday? Unbelievable! Then again this is the USA where life continues 24/7 even though people aren't made to work/be awake 24/7.....go figure this country out if you can. Is the USA REALLY part of the planet Earth or is it just a figleaf of my imagination?

I will always be in trouble on here because it's inevitable that someone is gonna be pissed at me for some fool thing! So I may as well accept the things I can't change!

One thing I can't change is a 53rd birthday.......etc.

I can feel in control of myself by knowing the day I will die.....sooner or later we all die.....why not know ahead of time and plan ahead?

michelle - Argh...hope you feel better!

What do you usually listen to on your MP3 player while you're at work? Is it the usual hard and heavy, or...?

GoldenGirl2 - Lots of people work Sundays. I actually preferred working Sundays, at past jobs I've had. I like the scheduling flexibility it gives you (being able to shuffle your work week around and take a day off without using vacation time). And the day is usually pretty low key...

And about the end of your post, to quote Pink Floyd (or rather, the person they quoted, in Great Gig In The Sky):

"I am not afraid of dying. Why should I be? There's no reason for it...you've gotta go sometime."

Not to sound like a greeting card, but just live every day like it's your last.

...Austin...

Happy bday GoldenGirl, stop worrying about everyone else and enjoy you and your loved ones.

I just came back from the metal bar, that was f-ing awesome! Everything from Pantera to Lamb of f-ing God, one of the bands even played a metal version of a spanish pop song that Sarah Brightman sings in her shows (how's that for genre-hopping!!), and it sounded killer. And then the drive back home was fueled by Hatebreed at full volume, I felt like getting out of the car and beating the crap out of those sissy emo teenagers driving next to me...maybe next time.

And yes I know this is not a metal forum. Next time you're driving home feeling buzzed or drunk you should put on a metal CD on your stereo and CRANK IT UP, u'll thank me later. Off to bed now. CHEEEEEERRRRRSSSSSSS!

elpp - yes indeedy we have qualified for the World Cup again - and we just beat Ireland 3-0 in afriendly.

Oh the memories of Germany! We Aussies now have a mantra "we'll always have Kaiserslautern", meaning the day we beat Japan with that magnificent Timmy Cahill goal, was the day we joined the top soccer nations permanently.

Girls this is Timmy Cahill
