Slan, sorry to hear about yer puter. That sucks so bad. Keep heart, hopefully you'll get it all back. The bar vid - I didn't understand a word dude was saying, but I know he meant every word of it. LOL! I was just hoping he wouldn't swat his beer off the table. lol! Good times man!

Skippy, I finally got around to watching the vid you posted of Joe in blue. Next time you come across something like that, you need to scream a little louder girly! WOW!! Did you see his eyes!!! I've seem them a million times, and pretty many times face to face, and they never looked that blue. woweewoowoo!

Castle, how do you know yer good at dressing up like a squirrel and jumping off cliffs? I'd say if you survive, it's all good. LOL! That's INSANE!!!

Went to Subway for a samish, and they were playing YES - Leave It on the radio. Great tune. Always loved the timing in that tune. Good stuff!

Mahavishnu / cheese101 - Thanks for the Lake Tahoe info. I won't know whether or not I'll be able to go for another week or so...we'll see what happens.

elpp - How was the Mayhem festival?
satrinicious - ITLIS? is in my top three Satch albums (the other two are CP and PSATMOR, I think, but the order changes all the time). Some of my favorite Satch songs are on ITLIS? (If I Could Fly, The Souls Of Distortion, and, like you, Bamboo). Some older favorites include Why (my No. 1 song), Time Machine, Secret Prayer, Echo, Driving At Night, and I Believe.

I've been fortunate enough to have seen Joe in concert many times (24...but who's counting?), and after all of that my favorite songs tend to be the ones he hardly ever/never plays live.

Do you have all of Joe's albums, or are you missing some here and there?

axeshredderjc - Joe has a bit of a rock star smirk on the Guitar Player cover photo, doesn't he? I like it!
GoldenGirl2 - Happy belated anniversary...I hope you and Steve had a good day. :-)
gotta have Joe - Hey, Kayla...I love all that background guitar awesomeness in the Big Bad Wah video. Very cool...

And yes, Joe played Clouds Race Across The Sky for part of the EOC tour. It was dropped somewhere along the way (along with Down, Down, Down and A Train Of Angels) and replaced with House Full Of Bullets.

You've been away for a while...how's your summer going? Up to anything exciting?

floyd5 - From what we can tell, Joe is only using Marshalls with Chickenfoot. I bet he'll continue to improve on the JSX, although maybe not for a while...
roo - Any hints on what your guitars will be, or do we have to wait and see? Are they Chickenfoot replicas, by any chance?

About your vacation...I moved around a lot as a kid, so I'm pretty familiar with all parts of the US and can definitely help you with planning. How long of a trip are you thinking, and how big is the family/how old are the kids? And would you be limited to one coast, or is going to (for example) San Francisco AND New York on the same trip a realistic possibility?

opusofid - Hi...welcome to the site!
ibanezguitars - Sweet... I didn't know Rick Wakeman was on keys at that show...and that's THE Sevilla show, right? With Brian May and Steve Vai and so on...?
slanshroom - Sorry to hear about the hard drive...hopefully you're able to rescue the music somehow.
michelle - Yeah, that's a great song...but doesn't it seem a bit obscure for Subway? No complaints from me, though...

"One down, one to go..."

Listening to: The Mars Volta - The Bedlam In Goliath (current song: Agadez)

Scubadaz: monkey kicks butt! Trippitaka was a pain with that omanipadmiom garbage he/she kept muttering. The stone monkey should have been ruler of heaven and was ripped off!

:)

Did you see that Jackie chan/jet li movie the forbidden kingdom? it was based on the monkey king legend also.

Do the stu: no, they are originals by very talented artists from a family of artists (and they are very genuine and wonderful people as well).

How was Mayhem, you ask?? Loud, intense, insane...a great day!!! You may notice the sun coming down hard on most of the pics, 97 degrees in black clothes is not something I'd recommend...

My top 3:
3. The Black Dahlia Murder, all the time they played I could only think "this is how Dream Theater would sound if they went death metal on us". Insane musicianship within their death metal framework.
2. Tie between God Forbid and Killswitch Engage. I love the heavy crunch riffing, both of these bands have it down to a T. Not a weak song in either of their sets. I had seen God Forbid before, but they sounded a lot meaner with the help of a bigger PA.
1. Slayer. No one comes close to what they do. To close their already killer set with Angel of Death, South of Heaven and Raining Blood, with a little rain coming down and some very nasty lightning strikes in the vicinity was un-f'ing-real!!!

Honorable mentions to Trivium, Cannibal Corpse and Marilyn Manson (I thought he would suck, for the most part he stuck to heavier songs that were bearable, specially after following the mighty Slayer).

Worst band of the show by far, All that Remains. They didn't even earn a spot in my photo album. They'd probably be a hit opening for Nickleback or those types of chick bands, but for this show they were a waste of time.

Do the stu: YES indeed, I have everything Joe has ever released!! - (at least I think so!!). "Why" is definitely also one of my favs and you´re right, the list changes all the time with one´s own mood, new releases aso. CP and EOC are in my top3 at the moment. I love so much of the stuff from EOC like Champagne, Clouds race...untill we say goodbye and the title track. And you´re right, it is such a shame that he never plays it live. (I´ve only seem him like 10 times or so, but keep track of the setlists for the shows I cannot attend!!).

Next time I get the chance to talk to him (met him about 4-5 times I think) I intend to suggest that he reworks the setlist - for instance skip playing Flying, Always, Surfing, Ice 9, Cool 9 all the time and make some space for all the other great material that really deserves to be on the setlist as well. I have the impression that he really listens to what his fans tell him and take it to heart, so all we have to do (I think!!??) is ask him to change the setlist a bit.

You know, he is such a huge role model to me in so many ways - like the way he carries himself both on and off stage, the way he runs his carrier and everything. He is such a decent person with total integrity and empathy and I just love everything he stands for. There should be more people like Joe on this planet, that´s for sure!!

JOE FOR PRESIDENT!! - Ahhh well on the other side, you guys recently elected a superb president - let´s give Mr. Obama some time to make the right changes. OK, this is not a forum for political issues, I only think Joe is one in a million - a very old soul who contributes to peace and hope in his very own way.

Hey, aren´t you also the guy who actually got to interview Joe a couple of years back before a show in California or so?? You did a really good job on that.....

Have a nice one.... Lea

Slan - Looked like fun man, good times. A little Q for you, when you 'played' with Valeriano were you putting music to the words (ie telling the story with them) or the poetry as a whole like an accompaniment if you get my drift?

I may be biased, but just coz they have Joe's name on them doesn't mean they DON'T rock. They are all damn fine pedals in there own right due to their extreme versatility.

roo :- PLEASE tell me your moving up to the Newcastle area!!!!???
