Cappy Steve: this is what you were referring to in your last post, this is how Joe describes the T2J forum:

This section is sort of a free-for-all stream of consciousness that all registered members can post to...

I remember there used to be LOTS more fighting and controversy when I first became a regular here, in the late 90's / early '00. It's way more civilized now, perhaps a result of the age range in which most of us fall in (mid 30's and up). I do enjoy the randomness quite a lot though, reading beer posts mixed with Wolfie's ramblings mixed with blog-like updates and such. I find it quite unique.

Don1963: That is tough, best of wishes to you and your family, stay positive. And how on earth did u end up on 3 CF shows?? Enjoy!!

I neglected to respond to a previous post of yours, I find it impossible to write lyrics first and music later. I need to know where the music is headed, and then I'll adjust the lyrics accordingly. I tried once to put music to some lyrics and failed miserably!

I'm catching up, from last week...

I went to Best Buy yesterday, and they had a cool endcap with a picture of Van Halen next to a picture of Chickenfoot. They're probably doing this nationally...all VH CDs are on sale at $7.99 through 8/22, and the Chickenfoot CD is still $9.99.
In that photo of Joe and Z.Z. with Les Paul...did Les actually sign "legendary" in front of his name, or does that say something else? If anyone has earned the right to do it, I'd say he definitely has...
bluebuffalo - The official stance on cameras is still "no" at most venues. Some let you bring in digital cameras if they aren't professional (no detachable lenses). Casinos tend to be looser with the rules than other venues, so we'll probably be able to have cameras in Lake Tahoe.
axeshredderjc - Thanks for those Satch tracks from Vox...

I really like them, like REALLY really... I love how "open" sounding the music is, they remind me of a modern-day JS95. I'd love for Joe's next solo album to sound like this...things could really open up when done live.

And Fanfire ships stuff from Rancho Cordova? That's the next town over from where I am now (where my parents live). Maybe I should swing by and bug them about not ever shipping stuff on time...haha.

Ethn Hayabusa - Spelling counts, on that guitarist quiz. Stevie Ray Vaughan. ;-)

I got 20-something, I could've done better (35-40?) if the pictures were bigger, I'm thinking.

turbo236 - Steve Vai released a shorter version of Live At The Astoria on CD as well. I agree...it really bugs me. Argh.
Guitarman77897 - Have you figured out any of Stuuu's solo yet? If not, say something this weekend (when I'm back in Long Beach) and I'll throw a quick tab together for you. I can play about 75% of the solo (Love Thing outro, Moonlight Sonata, Country Music (A Night In Hell)). I haven't taken the time to learn some of the Stu riffs in the middle, but he has a tab book out with those parts (they're bits and pieces of some of his solo songs)...
GoldenGirl2 - Happy belated birthday...sorry I'm late with it, but I've only been skimming T2J the past few days and I must have missed mention of it.
scubadaz - The bootleg I found was actually a torrent of bootleg recordings of as much of the festival as could be compiled. It was huge (several GB)...I've only downloaded Hendrix so far, but I'm looking forward to hearing the Who and some others. You can probably still find it online if you do some digging.

Don1963, It's a blessing and I never take it for granted when I see a post in blue with my name in it. What a great bday present that was! Now...repeat after me..."My name is Don" hi Don "and I'm a Satchaholic" lol! THREE shows! Whore! lol!

Slan, it was a minimal swerve day at best. I had to work the next day to boot. I'm saving my swerve day(s) for this weekend in AC ;-)

Update on Tracie's son Chris...

The surgery to remove the lump in his neck went great. Last I heard, they were out of the hospital and in a restaurant. Chris was scarfing down burgers, fries, banana cream pie, and anything else he could get his hands on. lol! Tracie said when he woke up from surgery he kept asking if he was alive. lol! Depending on my swerve this weekend, I might be asking the same thing Sunday morning! lmao!

Thanks to all who sent good vibes or prayers. The sun was even coming up by the time she got to the pass, so it wasn't to dark for her drive. She don't like that damn pass at night. Can't blame her one bit. So anyways - thanks!

Hello. I heard about the controversy between you and Coldplay, and I believe firmly in your case. In fact, I think that this might help you.

It is a morph between "If I Could Fly" and "Viva La Vida".

It might not be the best morph, but it shows how much of your song was taken in order to make "Viva La Vida". At the :50 mark, your guitar lick matches the one used in Viva La Vida almost perfectly. Listen to the whole song and you will see.

Thank you.

Do The Stu: I am very disappointed that Vai decided to cut tracks off of the CD. Seriously, it can't cost them that much more to make a 2 CD set, and I would have gladly paid the extra price. Now, I will probably only buy the DVD.

I hope that when the Live in Paris DVD is released (date??), that it is accompanied by a full-length CD as well. Joe seems to be pretty good about doing this, so I'm not overly worried yet. Just very excited to at least see a firm release date announced. (JOE????) Anybody??

On a separate note; I am looking forward to seeing It Might Get Loud. Unfortunately, there is only one theater in Boise that plays indie films and documentaries, and for some reason this film doesn't open here until 25 September. They do serve beer, wine, coffee, and have a small cafe so you can have more than just popcorn and pop during your movie, so that should be nice!
They are also showing a flick called The Hurt Locker, which is a documentary of three Army Bomb Technicians doing their work in Iraq. I have not seen it yet, but I do the same job in the Air Force, and am kinda looking forward to seeing how it turned out. The trailer is pretty cool, although I'm sure they've added a fair bit of Hollywood to the movie.

Regarding Woodstock, I was searching through torrents last week for some Hendrix stuff, but didn't stumble across any bootlegs of Woodstock. I'll have to look again. I have his performance on DVD, and it is magnificent. I have been watching it all week in honor of the 40th b-day of the festival, even though I'm only 25!
Watching Jimi play through Red House after breaking the high E is orgasmic! It is unfortunate that Larry Lee seems to be edited out of everything that I have, DVD included. You can see him playing on the stage, just can't hear it. I remember reading somewhere that Jimi cut him loose for a couple solo's during his set; which, of course, didn't make the final edit either.
There is also a movie called "Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace and Music; the director's cut". I picked it up a Costco the other day and was planning on watching it tomorrow, it has performances from The Who, Santana, Jimi, and a handful of others. I'll let you know if it's any good.
Cappy Steve: I haven't heard anyone mention ELO in a few years! I am not overly familiar with them, probably because of my age, but I do know "Do Ya" and "Don't Let Me Down" very well! I'll take a break from my Hendrix obsession and crank up 'Do Ya' for the neighborhood to hear!
Sorry again for the long post folks!! Happy B-day to all of the August babies here and well wishes to all!

Ian

GoldenGirl2:- Personally, I believe Mr McKenna is running around Ireland drunk and chasing gorgeous blondes...but that's just a guess!!! LOL.As for your depression,I won't pretend to KNOW what it feels like, but I do understand it.I have a couple of peeps that i'm very close to who both suffer depression and over the years i have learned what it is. I very rarely get too depressed about anything probably because no matter how bad a situation may be,there is always a positive side to it to learn from, and there is always someone worse off than myself. All I can offer you is this: Look for the positive in every aspect of your life and focus on what you CAN do.I prefer to think about what i NEED rather than what i WANT. Hope this helps in some small way.And Happy Belated Birthday!!!!
