TheHawkGuy - Actually i like to dive in and get out quick with Joes songs. Too much analyzing ruins it. Most times ill improv to speed things up and still always enjoy the solo as it wont remind me of the hours laboring over it...lol Do you have a video?

cosmic_ape - I agree about complex songs needing complex lyrics...

At first some of the Chickenfoot lyrics bugged me...the first three songs were heard are about as simple as you can get. I was most bothered by Down The Drain's lyrical theme being similar to Van Halen's Up For Breakfast, but I'm fine with it now that I know that the song was created on the spot.

Sammy can write some deep stuff, when he works at it...I hope to see a lot of that on the next album.

michelle - Cool fireworks video. Two years ago I went to New York over July 4th, and saw the Macy's fireworks show (the largest in the country). They shot fireworks off three barges in the East River...when the finale happened, it was so bright that it looked like daytime. Maybe I'll try to get some photos/videos of that together in time for tomorrow.

And about Aerosmith, Steven is clean. He hurt his leg, though.

There were reports from fans he was limping at the Mohegan Sun show, and Joe Perry's wife Billie confirmed the injury on twitter (and while I'm at it, here's Joe's twitter...the two of them post a lot, FYI).

Brad Whitford hurt himself a few weeks ago (banged his head pretty badly getting out of a car) and has missed a few weeks of shows while recovering...they've been touring with a replacement. He'll be back soon though.

By the way, Joey Kramer's "Hit Hard" is an excellent book...and yes, it's full of drugs and sex and drugs and rock 'n' roll and drugs. It's a quick read (250 pages, I finished it in a day and a half), but still very informative...and there isn't too much overlap with the band's earlier biography, Walk This Way.

A favorite excerpt:
One night at about two in the morning [Steven Tyler] called me and told me to come pick him up on a street corner somewhere off Huntington Avenue.

When I got to the place he said he'd be, he was standing there with a huge string bass, taller than he was. I was driving a little Vega station wagon at the time, and he had already started putting it in the back before I could get out to say "what the fuck?"

"No questions," he said.

Suzie2000 - Hi...it's great to see you here again! How've you been? Did you catch the Chickenfoot gig a few days ago?

...Austin...

hey all - been away for a while but a member for 10 years. Really excited about the Chickenfoot! Truly dig the whole album and Joe continues to rock. So happy for all the band members. Can't wait to see them on the road. Might get a chance for a couple of shows.

HELLO EVERYONE!

Hope everyone is doing well. I've been busy with my running and work. Tomorrow, I have my Firecracker 4 Mile Run. Then next Saturday (7/11), I have a 5K Run and another 10K Run the following Saturday (7/18). Wish me luck everyone.

Webmaster: Happy Belated Birthday Jon.

To Everyone: What's up everyone! I'm not sure what I'll be doing after my 4 Mile Run tomorrow. I don't have any plans. I know I work first thing in the morning after the holiday for the next few days. I might catch some Wimbledon on television. GO VENUS & SERENA!!! GOOD LUCK SUNDAY ANDY RODDICK!!! I've been busy with cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, getting my car fixed/checked, and paying all my bills. I guess I pretty much run & work. Speaking of running, I have now put in more than 200 miles in (almost) a month and a half. I am thinking about doing a marathon in Indianapolis or Columbia City. I haven't decided yet.

How are your families, work, and life going for you all? To those who are feeling a little under the weather or not doing well, hope you feel better soon. Seeing Chickenfoot in concert in Chicago is still in question for me.

Well, time to get some shuteye. I'll chat with you all later and let you know how the running went down. By the way, Happy Belated Canada Day to you Canadians, and a Happy 4th of July to all you proud Americans. See ya everyone!

Axeshredder No videos due to the fact I'm just a satriani/vai listener and don't play guitar, BUT, however, I did met nice guitar players personally like ty oliver..terry lauderdale, brad gillis and of course joe satriani

I first started listening to joe satriani back in 1992 and a friend of mine lend me a cassette tape "flying in the blue dream" album by joe satriani..I first listened to the tape first few days and believed me, I wanted to buy more of joe cassette tapes and my favorite joe album to this day? "time machine" it still rock to this day.. perfect for running around on wet rainy days

July Birthdays--Joe Satriani, 7/15 and the late Joe Fidler (my dad) 7/16. Two July Joes!!! Every time I think Joe (Joseph) or see the name or hear it, I can't help thinking of my dad....all those memories of the first man in my life!!! And then I discover a "brother" Joe, a guitar hero......music hasn't been the same since. The Mozart of guitarists!! Pure genius.....pure sounds from the heart......a long and beautiful highway......

scubadaz - chris, my erstwhile videographer you ran into, just got back into town and is shipping the footage off to me. we'll be reviewing and then deciding when and where to lay some highlights from the couple european shows he was at. i also have joe's footage he shot from the Road Test tour and there is some hilarious stuff in there! some might show up online, some might be bonus footage down the line on a release-- too early to say right now!

cheese101 - our plans are to do a chickenfoot VVN show sometime later this year. we are still searching for the right show to base it on, though!

btw, thanks for all the birthday wishes! and btw, my kids still love playing with those magnets :}

PTROCKER: Cool, another Dream Theater fan! Best of Times has some very enjoyable soloing. Proof that Petrucci can also do slow solos!

MICHELLE: My future ex-wife (more on that later on) was recorded unknowingly...by me. I showed her the video afterwards and she was ashamed at first, then she got curious, then excited... it was a fun day, I'll tell you that much! So I'd recommend it for the couples who are confortable with themselves and want something out of the ordinary.

AUSTIN: So, I take it you like In-n-Out huh? jajajaja, just teasing u bro. By the way, big thank you for encouraging me to see Candlebox live (you said good things about them a while back). I just came back from their show, it was excellent!! Pics and details in a separate post.

DoTheStu: I'm actually still waiting for it to come (which should be today), I've been listening to a few tracks off Spotify. So far The Blood and Tears, Frank and Asian Sky are the main ones I listen to. I am trying not to listen to too many of the songs before it comes...I want it to remain a bit of a treat :)

So this is a very small photo summary of my experience with Candlebox tonight.. As you can see on the setlist, they played a lot of tunes from the first album (which I really like) and a lot from their newest album (which I will now have to track down). Nothing from Happy Pills which was a surprise, there are several great songs on that album, 3 of which made it to rock radio back in the day. At any rate, they are doing an extensive US tour right now, if you get the chance to see them go! you won't be disappointed.

One thing I really liked was the amount of lovely girls in attendance tonight. I am not exaggerating when I say that I had boobs rubbing against my back the whole night. The suffering one must endure to get to the front... :)

Webmaster- Thanks for the updates. Any clue as to a show in Memphis or St.Louis? Hopefully this winter.

Austin- Thanks for nudging me into buying more of Sammy's newer stuff. I bought Ten 13 and Red Voodoo. I had heard a few of the songs from Ten 13, but it was great to revisit. And I do agree that Sammy can write deeper lyrics. I guess I went through a period where I was not buying a lot of music. The VH thing had left me disenchanted for lack of a better word. I was pretty into Joe and Vai. From 2000 - 2007 I held down a management position at a large facility along with my farming and that period is pretty much a blur. Anyway back on track catching up on what I missed. [be]

Aerosmith is time tested. The band is like a group of old soldiers who have battled their whole life. I don't see how their bodies held up as well as they have.

Death Cube- What did you post your jazz mp3 to? I have glance over MySpace and honestly have not devoted any time there but am clueless on organizing . That and I just don't have much time right now. Back during the rain delay, I messed around with Audacity and BeatCraft ( basic kit,..sounds like 80s pop drums) and recorded a short heavy riff rock ditty I am calling "Limp Noodle" for now. It is basically minor petntatonic with a little Dorian and Phrygian with part of the riff I have narrowed down to Hungarian Minor. ( E, F#,G,Ab, B, and Eb) Would that be a correct classification? I need someone else to work the program so I can concentrate on playing. I easily become fatigued with computers anyway. I think I am more of a knob and slider man but can't really justify the expense of the system I want right now....If only I were a Billionaire...even a millionaire would be nice

To Zinc Master,

Yes, Madoff was sentenced well, but realize this. He is just small potatoes compared to the scam that the Federal Reserve and the US government is pulling on us.
