Happy birthday Joe. Happy birthday to you and happy birthday to me too. I am an avid fan since you launched Surfing with the Alien album - yes, I am that old and I as of today I am not getting any younger. We were watching your concert in Istanbul in 2007 and I could not belive my eyes when they rolled in this huge birthday cake. I couldn't believe we have the same birthday. I tried to come backstage after the concert to get a signature and maybe a slice of cake thinking that I deserved it as a birthday treat but unfortunately I wasn't allowed. Anyways tickets to your concert was my birthday present to myself and it was a great concert. It was wonderful to see how much you cared about sharing the music you make. Thanks for that special day and thanks for this unearthly music you are making. Have a wonderful year. Didem

Do The Stu: interesting question you post. I probably don't know drums that well to answer accurately, but here are my two cents:

- Instead of asking who plays better or whose style matches better Joe's playing, I think it's more relevant to ask which one of them understands better what Joe plays and with that in mind, I think Jeff probably is THE one as they've played together for so long and they probably have that understanding that surpasses words.

I don't know if you ever had that feeling, but there are moments between musicians when they don't need to talk or even look at each other as they know each other so well that they guess what the other one will play.

And that's probably Jeff's case while with Chad they would still have to work on it.

This doesn't mean I don't like Chad's playing. Au contraire.

One of the pleasant suprises of Chickenfoot was the apparent chemistry between Chad and Michael. The CF's rythmic section is awesome, imo!

Before I listened to CF, I would never guessed Chad could play straight rock so well.

Another example of great guitar/drums chemistry: Petrucci/Portnoy

Do the Stu : Hey SOMEBODY read my sad little outcry....!! Thanks for trying to cheer me up. I know you´re right about the waitingpart - if I only knew HOW long that would be though, that would make a world of difference. Hopefully the Chickenfootshow in Montreux will come out on DVD sometime, like Joe said!!

I was considering flying over to catch Chickenfoot in NY; but I have no idea whether it´s sold out or not. Also I´ll be in London that weekend for U2. A friend of mine insists that at some point I´ll realize that Edge´s guitarplaying is up there among the best, so he´s dragging me to London - I like the sound of Edge´s guitars, though. But he still has to practice a little to reach the level of expression of a Joe Satriani, I think. Of course it´ll always be a different kind of guitarplaying when you´re in a band with such a charismatic leadsinger, than if your guitar has to do all the singing, as in Joe´s case, though! - Would have switched the U2-show for a Chickenfoot-show anytime though!!

Also, I have often read your input here on the T2J-section and you seem to know quite a lot about high-quality rockmusic and guitarplayers. Wish I had the time to check it all out - your recommendations and so I mean......Aren´t you the guy talking about how great it was to finally hear "Echo" played live, on the DVD-part of the Professor-album?? I agree with you totally - I was one of the 10 lucky winners to join Joe and the band in the studio for the 20th anniversary of "Surfing with the alien" 2 years ago - so I too got to hear it played live for sure.....

.......From a lot of the input here today it seems that today is Joe´s birthday......so here´s another birthdaygreeting for you Joe: HAPPY BIRTHDAY and have a good one.....

Thanks again "Stu" - maybe I´ll "talk" to you again sometime??!!......Best to you from Denmark

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOE

Austin: I think Chad is a good drummer, he can play any groove you can think of. but I think you're right, Joe is going to use Chad on a few tracks for his solo album.

Jeff Campitelli is a great drummer, and he and Joe get along well on stage (musically speaking), he knows all of Joe's music catalouge like the back of his head. But I think sometimes an artist needs a change, that's my opinion...

Happy B-day Joe!

burly: I hope your right about the tour. I hope Chickenfoot goes on until these guys are so old they just can't play anymore! lol No one carries CF but Best Buy. It's Best Buy's exclusive record label called Redline.

Hell Sammy is 61 and still rocking pretty well so if he can go to like 70 or so.

michelle: I feel for ya, thats just disgusting. I know there are a lot of overwieght people out there, I just wish they wouldn't wear tight fitting clothing.

Pip: The dvd is awesome. The first show was shot by my wife and is so close she got a sore neck looking up. The club was too small to have a barrier up front. I shot the second show. Again from the front row but they did have a barrier. My vids do get shakey at times because I just couldn't stay still. Anyway I could make copies if you want them, but I would have to charge you for the blank dvd and to ship it to you. Sorry but unemployed right now and $$$$$ are real tight. If I had a job I'd gladly send out copies to anyone who asked. Send me an e-mail if anyone wants one @ flickman@verizon.net if you want one and I'll see how much it would cost.

Well I think I finally caught up. Another happy B-day Joe! Mas Tequila! Cabo Wabo won't hurt you the next morning! ha!

Skippy, Holy shit! That's living life to it's full potential! Even though it's not my favorite kind of music, I always loved Pink. She's just badass and her body is slammin' - not like the sticks in high heels we see on a regular basis or the gimmicky ho's (insert Lady Ga Ga here). I also like her voice and always wish her the best. I hope her and Carey can make it work. They're such a cute couple.

Ibanezjoan, it's such an amazing song. Killer groove too! When Joe does the knobs - lawd gimme strenff! My other fav part is the part that starts at 6:20. The wailing of his guitar at 6:34 raises every hair on my body. It gets me every time. Joe can make that guitar scream like no other. The bass is killer throughout the whole song also. Just a perfect tune all around.

Look at our precious little Joey back in the day. He should bring those jeans back on tour with him. lmao!!

Don, not many ppl can pull off bike shorts. If the dude would have just had his shirt UNtucked and long enough to cover the sleeping Chihuahua in his pants, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. lol!
