Thanks for all the Chickenfoot in Europe pictures and videos, everyone... I'm still missing My Kinda Girl though. ;-)

I love Joe's tone with these Marshalls...nice and thick.

hybes - I don't think the JSX 50 was designed specifically for Chickenfoot, it's just that a prototype was finished right around the time Joe started recording so it's what he used.

I don't know what the specific differences are between the 50 and his larger amps, but I'd imagine there's something different about the smaller amp that gives him tone he likes. But he needs larger amps because of the venues the band is playing...maybe that's why he's using Marshall now?

TestAccount - Hi, and welcome to the si...just kidding, Roo (I presume). ;-)

Actually, that was a tech from apple testing my app for release. I had to create a test account for them to use in testing it. That's encouraging, it means they may not be far from approving it.

Can someone in the UK tell me what exactly ITN is? Are they a tabloid network, or are they a legit news station?

They have a video on YouTube of reactions to Michael Jackson's death...someone on Mike Portnoy's forum posted a link to it. Satch is the second person on it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hS9Iyo4nFBk&feature=fvhl

It looks like they shoved a camera in his face as he was signing autographs after the show, and based on Joe's reaction I bet this is how he first found out about MJ's death.

Why go through all the trouble to get a musician's thoughts when you don't identify him? And why go about getting reactions in such a rude way in the first place? Argh...

Well, that's my rant for the night...

No I wasn't disappointed; I was pleasantly surprised. You know I wasn't crazy about the album, I think it is good. Chickenfoot was great.
In spite of all the freedom and improv they're tight. Thanks to Mike Anthony. And it was fun to see Joe have all that space and freedom to go crazy. Never seen him so lively and wild. His sound was rather thin and glassy unfortunately (not what you'd expect from Marshalls) and he was not sounding like "Joe" to me.
Sammy told he "needed a doctor yesterday" (not sure if this is true) and showed his 'injuries' (arm, leg) from the 'drum incident', but they are so small you couldn't see them from where I was. He mentioned MJ only once and there was no reaction from the crowd whatsoever. Highway star was a highlight for me, played loud and fast and a taste of my first favorite band when I was a 12 year old kid. (and it takes a lot to make me sing along).
Chickenfoot took Heerhugowaard, NL by storm, winning the crowd over after 3 songs. Some moments the earth was shaking underneath my feet.
At the end of the show when Sammy mentioned the names of the band again the loudest cheer was clearly for Joe which suggests he was the one with his fanbase coming out to see him play. The lighting tech had a tough night since the guys with the super troopers were amateurs (from the venue no doubt) who were clearly not experienced nor smart. At moments I thought he would explode.
Phones were allowed but cameras were not. And it was actually bloody checked during the show. So having to be fast and sneaky with my camera, and not having time to make a lot and work on it, my photos suck. Just like venue hospitality in the Netherlands.
So I am happy I didn't sell my ticket to rock and I will listen to the album with more enthousiasm now. Ususally with a good album a band can't live up to it live, but here it's the other way around: the live band makes me hear the album differently. And seeing friends from all over the country again was cool too.
(If anything more comes to mind I'll update).

DTS the camera shoved in Joe's face is terrible and it looks like they didn't even have the courtesy to ask "Can we ask you a question?"
Joe's great and warm personality shines in the answer, he thinks of children loosing a parent first. Family.

scubadaz - Thanks for the info...so they are a station that's more than the equivalent of E! or TMZ here in the US.

Guitarvibes - I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the show, even if the album doesn't really grab you. Your comment about maybe liking the album more now surprises me though...I kind of feel the opposite.

I love the band and the songs, but I'm finding I don't listen to the actual CD as often as I thought. Some of that has to do with me seeing two shows before the album was actually released, I think...parts of the recording (overdubs, etc.) stick out to me now as imperfect.

Do you recall what Sammy specifically said about Michael Jackson? Sammy's solo catalog includes a fair amount of R&B covers (Otis Redding's (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay and I'll Take You There by the Staple Singers, to name two), so I don't think a comment from him would be out of place at all...

And lastly, back to Joe, I noticed the same thing about his comment. Family first.

I fixed the link : ) and here it is reposted...

Chickenfoot

Notice Sam checks his head for blood...

but I prefer Axeshredders version - cheers for that one!

Skippygirl - yep. 5.50 is me, and 1 second in and so on, I'm all over it. There's also quite a good band LOL. Well spotted. It seems Sammys mic stand is growing out of my head. I'll take that injury over a drum kit though : )

Cheese - I need a cure as everyone thinks I'm mental! Had it all day at work yesterday... but I am happy to take your remedy Dr Chee! Thanks for the answer about non chickPITT, I am checkin into it & will let you know

Do The Stu - ITN is essentially the news arm of the second major TV station over here (ITV). BBC & ITV have been around for ages. Didn't like the fact they just shoved the camera in J's face and didn't acknowledge who he is, but Joe's response was the same as many

Scuba - good to see you too. Both ears now... but also sore throat, runny nose etc, so there's my answer I guess. Hope you're feelin better after some Chickenfoot soup

Im not sure who was fliming outside and in the show, but there was no sign of Sir Luini so not sure who it's connected to, other than maybe a crew following the band or some local news?

I'll try and get time to sort through my vids later & get em up...

or maybe just Get It Up : )

Have a good weekend everyone

Scuba, Pip and Satriella- Geat to hear you guys hooked up and it looks and sounds like a great rock and roll show.

Al- sounds like you also had a great time. Just hangin out with no pressure and with friends,..there is no substitute.

A giant of a man like GVibes moved to sing along, I'm impressed. I knew you were not pleased 100% with the album at first but glad to hear you have a different viewpoint after seeing the band live. Glad you were able to experience it.

Skippy- A somewhat self- subdued rice farmer. The wild man is still in there somewhere.

Speaking of wild man on the drums, Chad reminds me of about 3 guys rolled into one I knew from high school days. He is a real hoot. Ya know it's one thing to watch Peart or Portnoy because of their depth, but undeniably Chad Smith is rock solid and has so much fun just being there.

Yeah man this hot weather is tough on me and you can bet the crops are suffering. Usually we are farther along in the prep that has to be done for irrigation by now but we have to be out in the heat so much that by the time evening falls your body is spent.

Tracie mentioned chiggers...I am a chigger magnet which is a bad thing when I am in and out of the weeds ( around irrigation wells and grain storage) I know I need to keep it mowed down but,..ya know. There is a creature for the Aussies. Do you have chiggers there? (red bugs I think they are called.)

The more I listen to the Chickenfoot album,... which is a lot, something else will jump out of the mix at me that I never noticed before.( like a keyboard part for instance.) I know it is heavily overdubbed but I have never been one to feel that a band should be able to reproduce the sound live 100%. I do understand where you are coming from Austin. The more I get to know you, you remind me of one of the guys I was in a band with.
Back..way back when we recorded some demos, I was all into having fun and adding parts with overdubs and just making a fun recording and Jeff was like " but we have to be able to reproduce this live". He had a good point but I see where Joe has thoroughly enjoyed making this record.

I want to see this band live. This is the best thing to happen to pure rock and roll in over 20 years. The return of an album I can turn on and listen to, song after song in succession. I 've been calling old school buddies and urging them to buy it....I knew this was gonna be good a year and a half ago... Thanks Joe and the rest of the guys.

It's almost 3:30, think I'll try to catch another hour of sleep.

Enjoy the weekend

Scuba - soz, what I really meant was I hope you get to the root of the problem with the headaches, and that the gig helped you forget it for a while. I saw the camera crew arrive but I didn't really take much notice until they shoved it in our faces inside

Burly - I'd definitely call that proper rock'n'roll... and tumble, and throw and cut ha ha. Ah, Danica... nice to look at, and fiercely competitive.... not always in a good way though (casting couch springs to mind)

Glitzman - hey there. All good here. Saw a killer Chickenfoot show, and wish there were a few more over here. Haven't seen much of the tennis. Johm McEnroe was at chickenfoot, he's such a rocker

Roo - dude, I'm on your screenshots. I like the app even more now LOL. Just need the phone, so I won't be getting the app just yet. But it does look bl**dy handy. Nice job!

Blue Moon - ha ha LMAO at your gig diagram! Nice pics, I thought you were at the back... mega zoom!!

Do The Stu - there was me, scuba, NJ, satriella, anibur, hugsamuchilus, jon & sylv (I don't know their screen names) that I know of. As soon as I got to the barrier it remined me of San Fran and every once in a while I glanced right but none of you lot were there. It made me think of that night a lot. We all have to do it again... right?

Guitarvibes - you enjoyed the show! Good to hear!!!

Do the Stu - Further to what the Dazzler said, ITN stands for Independent Television News. It dates back from when there was the state sponsored BBC and ITV (Independent TeleVision). ITV consists of a number of regional television companies which banded together to form a conglomerate of sorts which has a national network with regional variations. So, the ITN news(world and national news) would be broadcast nationally and at certain times of day this would be followed by regional broadcasts of the local news.

Austin....that vid looking for reactions to MJ's death shows some of what I DONT like about the news. What did they expect ANYONE to say in reaction? To catch people unaware as they did with Joe and then not even identify him...I'm with you...what was the point? It is a tragedy that he died, most especially for his children. That's always the first place my brain goes when anyone dies, is the family that's left behind and how they must feel. Death is sad and having someone you love and care about leaves a hole that is never filled. Why do they think it's newsworthy to ask people what they think about someone dying....DER!! Michael was famous, yes....but he was just a human being like everyone else. We're all born to eventually die. His family should be left in privacy to grieve. (and this next statement is in no way directed at you, just the media in general, lol) Give me news that matters....don't use things like this to squeeze out every possible drop of media-attention. Do things that honor people and then move on. But I betcha they'll make a media circus outta this for some time to come. Sigh.

Scuba, thanks....generally, my cheeze-whiz is pretty sharp when it comes to all things guitar and gear-related...since he lives, eats and breathes guitar, LOL!! Didya check the twit-pic out yet?

Guitarvibes....glad to see you've had a good experience after all :) Welcome to the power of the FOOT, lol!!

Pip...THEN GET ON IT DOOD!!! Time's a wastin' and make sure u allow fer some sleep time, at least before the gig, LOL!! Hotels are gonna fill up, tickets are gonna sell out!! Just don't bring yer cootie-cold germies wiff ya or we'll spray u down with Lysol :D

Oh and btw...you ARE mental. Just thought I'd agree with everyone, lol!! But in a good way...yer brain has been "Chickafied" and there's no turnin back now!!

Burly....********chiggers********GAH!!! HATE EM!!!

OH....as to the filming of the shows...they did that in San Fran too, as I think they have been in most locations. I talked to Jon Luini (webmaster) briefly about it, he said they were going to be using the film in some way to be able to share the Chickenfoot experience with people around the world who can't get to a live show...but then he got all teckanickle on meh telling me how it was gonna be shared, and it was really noisy there, so my wee brain dint retain exactly what he said =| But I do know they have plans, LOL!!

Mebbe webby Jon can enlighten us...I make a damn poor reporter, lol!! Shuda taken detailed notes....

Once again thanx to all who posted on the last couple of shows! It's great to hear that EVERYONE comes away from these shows the way I did. Hooked on the FOOT. When I first heard the couple of songs that were released on-line before the cd came out, I was a little underwhelmed lets say. Looking back I think it had more to do with the poor quality than anything else. But after the first show in Boston I knew these guys were gonna tear it up! Chad tore it up a little too much in London lol. Anyway like I said before This is the best Rock & Roll I've heard in a looooooooong time. Long live the FOOT! May the FOOT stomp down in your town!

scubadaz - Joe has almost made that effect his signature...ive never heard anyone else use it. Im sure that company made many$ over the years not to make a deal about it? My prediction for the next pedal has to be a chorus/compressor called flying in a blue dream ..lol...i cant think of any other pedal he could make...what he really need is a custom pedal board that can condense all these freekin huge pedals..my tuner has been squeezed out of my portable pedalboard by the time machine...and i still think JSX sounds better than Marshalls from what im hearing and it seems Joe is working harder for sustain and sweet feedback...i have a jsx and previously owned marshalls and use them regularly in rehearsal studios..occassionally i bring the jsx head and people notice..the awards and popularity of this amp all across the genre board say alot....I cant ever question Joes opinion but await to hear his explanation besides the one that says hes crazy..lol

Hey Im 100!
