Punkdude75. I have 3 girls so it can get a little trying at times. But it's worth it.
Do the Stu. I think the cd is a little overproduced. I think another producer might have done better. I know a lot of people like Andy Johns and he has done great work, but I think he should have pushed the bass and drums back a little more and brought out Satch's playing. Mikey and Chad are just too powerful and Andy likes bass so I think it is a little bass heavy. I usually play the Chickenfoot cd on a different setting (low bass) on the cd player. These guys are fantastic live and I can't wait for more!

I saw Explosions In The Sky in concert tonight. They were excellent, as they always are. This was my fourth time seeing them, going back to 2006. It's cool how in just three years or so, they've gone from playing rooms that hold 250-500 people to selling out tonight's show at the Palladium (4,000 capacity).
michelle - I don't want to get far into the the "What if" game, but...if all of these people would have bought the music over the course of the last decade instead of all crammed into this weekend, maybe he wouldn't have been working so hard on this comeback tour (if you've never gone away, you can't make a comeback). I'm not saying he wouldn't have died, but his last few years may have been more enjoyable / less stressful.
I wasn't alive when he made the transition from Jackson 5 member to solo artist, but he was still HUGE as I was growing up. I remember going to a friend's birthday shortly after the Dangerous album was released. His mom gave him that album, and every single one of us kids thought that was the coolest gift ever...way better than all of the action figures, NERF guns, footballs and whatever else we had given him.
You're probably right that future royalties will go to his kids...hopefully that helps them through the difficult times ahead.
Oh, and I bought the new Davy Knowles album today. I'll let you know what I think after I give it a listen...
scubadaz - I've heard the painkillers rumors too. I've also read a lot of news items and statements that make it sound like the family is trying to pin this on his doctor. Maybe that's what killed him, but I bet his family knew about the painkillers ahead of time.
death cube k - I think part of my annoyance is that it just seems like the bandwagon thing to do. Here in LA, no one is a Lakers fan until they're making a run in the playoffs...then everyone has a flag on their car, for example. It bugs me.
Don1963 - Hmmm...I actually like how the Chickenfoot mix favors Mike and Chad. Of all the people in the band, I think their playing differs most from the preconceptions that were out there. So it's good to highlight them, I'd say.
What are some of your other favorite bands/albums? You're fairly new here, so I don't know. If you could pick a different producer for the album, who would you go with?
...Austin...

Even though I have a lenient viewpoint toward overproduction, I have always been very impressed to hear artists recreate the album sound live. Scorpions (Monsters of Rock 1988 sticks out for me). I had to look at the soundboard several times to see if Dieter Dierks was manning the controls..
The Chickenfoot record does have a lot of low end. It does sound great though with a sub-woofer. I turned the bass up 2 notches from where I normally listen. I have never been a fan of the rumbling bass sound but for some reason I like the lows on this album and how they blend with Joe. One point that sticks out for me is on MKG with Chad riding the floor tom (which is in tune with the bass line) and the mix is blended and transitioned from Mikey to Chad and back again throughout the song. It has a rumble at times that would normally be annoying to me somewhat, but I like it. And I do realize that I have had a great deal of anticipation and excitement with this project so there is a factor there that would render me partial.{br]
Got my Chickenfoot T for Fathers Day from my oldest daughter. She ordered it way back and it just came yesterday. (Was supposed to be delivered by DHL and so charged but it came regular mail)
Enjoy

Roy : i agree about MJ.. the man seemed very pertubed & haunted by terrible demons..
Austin : The most annoying point to me is that the ones who have blamed him during changing skin color weirdness & pedophilia scandal are now acclaiming him.. now he doesn't need them anymore.

Even worse than MJ news overload, is Twitter "news".
I don't give a flying f--- about what's going on there. F--- twitter. Can we keep it out of the media for the literate.

DoTheStu: I know what you mean about MJ. Unfortuantely, I'm one of those people, as I'd never thought of listening to hi stuff as it seemed the 'wong' genre (if that makes sense)...but I've heard a few tracks on TV programmes and as a result, I've got to like a few. I just wish I'd thought to give him a listen before :(
....and yes michelle, if buying a cd of his will help his kids get through this then consider it bought!

Austin, I absolutely agree. To little, to late - all around. As for the Jackson 5 - they were the coolest band out there when I was a kid. They blew the Osmonds out of the water. LOL! It was really cool to have brother bands - and soo many brothers too!. Then of course they both had little sisters who sang too. Anyways, what's your fav MJ vid? Here's mine - Scream. It's like the lyrics from his songs went unheard by way to many. Maybe they heard them but still thought it was funny to torture him anyway?
Let me just take a sec to add that I haven't been mentioning Farrah's death because of the fact that it's to emotional for me. I haven't been able to watch most of the press on her because I don't feel like crying my eyes out and getting that upset. I've seen what cancer does, and at this time, I have to emotionally distance myself. With my step dad just going through colon/rectal cancer, it hits to close to home. By the grace of God my pop is doing well now, and has even put some weight back on. As far as I know, he has a clean bill of health except for a few non cancer related glitches. Farrah is just as important as MJ - I just can't go there.

Just realised two lil demos of using SL-20.
First demo is SRV funky blues style.. SL-20 is used on bass, rythmical guitar & lead guitar. For the lead guitar, i found a pattern that can be similar to an auto wah.
Second demo is weird stuff.
If some are interested by slicer adrenalin things

Hey Austin; Yeah I'm a real newbie here! Well I grew up with everything from Motown, Zep, even Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, through the 80's with all the classic "hair" bands, then the grunge movement to todays heavier groups. Right now I listen to TOOL,SYSTEM OF THE DOWN, PAPA ROACH, NICKELBACK, DISTURBED, which my wife says I am for listening to them lol, it seems the older I get the "heavier" I like my music. I know that's the reverse of how it supposed to be but...... I guess because I always loved the guitar I'm constantly drawn to heavier guitar sounds and styles. I definately can't stand most of what is on the radio these days, which is why my Chickenfoot cd plays non-stop, which is why I'm so excited about this band, you can play the whole cd start to finish. There are no throw away songs IMHO.
I can appreciate giving a little more emphasis on the bass and drums on this record, agreed they are an awesome rythm section, maybe the best in the business right now, just think they needed to tone it down just a smidgen. But that's why they say different strokes for different folks!
As for another producer hmmmmmmm, always loved the production on Candle Box's first one, still listen to that cd. His name is Kelly Grey, not exactly a big name but I think it has awesome balance.
As for all the recent "star" deaths, people may ask what's up with that, I say it's called LIFE.
