Vai is almost done with the new dvd/cd/blue-ray, and I haven´t heard anything about Satriani´s live in Paris. I hope he releases it on blue-ray too.

Hey Joe,

Have a moment to "talk shop"?

I'm curious about how well your guitars hold up to your playing. I've heard about guitarists playing instruments to death... Do you have a stock pile of spent instruments that you salvage parts from or do you have maintenance work "tune-ups" on your guitars often? Is your playing style even that demanding on your instruments - I've read of EVH completely wrecking the frets on his older guitars in one touring!

Have you ever broken a wang bar or a string while playing live? If so, how were you able to keep the song going?

I read about a lot of guitarist amassing collections of guitars... Do you have such a collection or are just a hand-full of instruments all that is needed? Is there one guitar over another that you play the most (something in the line of a "Pearly Gates" or "Lucille")?

I'm really curious about your guitars because I had the opportunity to play an older, used JS100 series at the "local" [for a one hour drive] Guitar Center and had a blast with it... I should've bought it, it was on sale for $250.00! But, I didn't for some odd reason, but am considering trying to get a JS1000 someday.

I've only been playing guitar for a little over 3 years now, but your music has been a great inspiration for almost 2 decades!

Thank You, Joe!

Skippygirl--Wow! Joe looks great in blue and it emphasizes his great blue eyes.......great expressive eyes. OK, I'd like his sisters' opinions on their little brother's public appearances........Do they have the best looking, most gifted, genius, musician brother in the world???

Skippy, do you think you and I could adopt Joe if he were available for adoption and wanted more sisters??? (Just dreaming....)

Glitzy - you are now officially on fiiiyyyaahhhhhhh buddy, those results are excellente! And I agree it sounds like you now need to say "I want to break 37 minutes" - try to say it out loud over and over for at least 3 mins a day if you can.

I really have no idea about marathons etc, so leave it up to you to decide what's best for you to race. Whatever you do, when you get to the Olympics just remember your Aussie buddy (free tickets would be great, thanks!).

GG2 - yes that vid of Joe had the blue turned up big time, very nice. I want know how come he has no wrinkles at 53???? What is his diet??

I had A LOT of margaritas tonight...happy hour in Venice Beach is quite nice. :-)

elpp - Cool...I hope you're able to see one of those shows while you're on vacation. I don't know about you, but I think doing things like that on trips makes them more memorable...the extra excitement is nice.
Furiae - I just checked iTunes and it looks like Tumble is still for sale. I searched the store through the iTunes interface for "Tumble" and the song was the first result.

If you can't find it that way, do a search for "Joe Satriani" and sort the results by date. The song was released on 8/24/04. It shows up as its own one-song album, by the way...it's not attached to ITLIS?...

And for everyone, I just noticed that the Super Colossal album is on sale for $5.99 at iTunes. So if you don't already have it, you can grab it for cheap...

axeshredderjc - Were the ITLIS? shows you saw just one long set? I know the west coast was on a separate leg, and it was rescheduled after two shows because Joe was sick...but those were two sets as far as I remember. In San Francisco, I remember the second set opening with Sleep Walk...and Matt played electric stand-up bass on the first few songs of that set.

Does anyone else remember? Tracie, I know you were at those shows with me...

Anyway, I'd like to see some of your pictures...can you tell me what shows they are, so I can find them in the archives?

Skippygirl - I still need to reply to your emails, but I'm dead tired so it'll have to wait until tomorrow...

...Austin...

Austin- Too many Margaritas and we still can't get you to slip up on composing a post.

Al- Take me drunk..I'm home again.

Roy- Went looking at new laptops last evening.(PC's) and after looking at several models and looking at all the different software I want, I have decided that I am not crazy about 30 different software manufacturers trying to run on 1 operating system. I will hold off until I can afford a Macbook Pro.

With MAc, the upgrade from 4MB to 8MB is $1000.00 U.S. I should have nor probs with 4MB if I intend to run Logic and maybe some video editing software, right?...A grand just seems like a lot of $ if I really don't need the extra memory.

Hello Joe, I am Pieter Brijker from the Netherlands. I have seen your show several times in Holland. For me you are one of the greatist gitarist today, because you can play in different styles of music.Just like Carlos Santana. Is it possible that you can play with Carlos Santana? Blues and intrumental numbers are booth one of your specialties. A good band line up could be: Joe and Carlos Gitar Benny Rietveld Bass Dennis Chambers Drums Chester Tompson organ keyboard Tony Lindsey vocals I can here the music in my mind. It would be great to here you play some numbers of Carlos and to here Carlos play some numbers of you. When you like this idea, please let me know Greatings Pieter and keep up your tremendes gitarplaying

Du The Stu…. We didn’t get a full on ITLIS tour here in the UK as Joe was working on putting a G3 together for Europe after he was ill with pneumonia (I recall, could be wrong) (thinking about it… didn’t Joe have pneumonia earlier then 2004?)

Joe promoted ITLIS on the Europe G3, we got “Up In Flames”, “Gnaahh”, “Lifestyle”, “ITLIS”, “I Like The Rain”, Searching”, I think we may have had “If I Could Fly” as well… Would have loved to have heard “The Souls Of Distortion” Along with some classic’s

The G3 was Joe, Steve and Robert Fripp….. (sorry to say, Fripp was a bit… (well a lot)…. Boring) He could have had me……lol….. I would have not been sat in the corner all night…..lol….

Take Care, Dave (NJ)

December 2004....Joe performed two nights back to back of shows in San Francisco...with PNEUMONIA ffs!!! Then had to cancel the last week of that tour and re-scheduled it later for April....we went to the San Fran shows, met with Joe afterwards and all I wanted to do was see him tucked up in bed, preferably in a hospital!! He was sooooooooooo sick!! And yet put on two amazing shows! Dunno how he did that.

Then, since the rest of the shows were re-scheduled, we took the opportunity to go to both the Anaheim and Ventura shows in Southern Cali in April, and met Austin for the first time. Then, a little over a week later, we also did the shows in Portland and Reno back to back.

SIX NIGHTS OF EVENING WITH JOE SHOWS FOR THE ITLIS TOUR HELLLLLLLLLL YEAH!!!

And yep, yer correct Austin...at least on this side of the states, they took a break for each show...10-15 minutes and Joe played Sleepwalk to open after the break...Morrocan Sunset, Bamboo, Starry Night....

He opened each night just blazing on Up in the Sky.... also played House Full of Bullets...Cool #9....Lords of Karma...Psycho Monkey....Strange...Searching (SIX VERSIONS OF SEARCHING, OHHHHHHH YEAH!!!)Hordes of Locusts, Up in Flames, Hands in the Air...Is There Love in Space?...Time...War....Flying in a Blue Dream...Summer Song...Surfin With the Alien...Always with Me, Always With You....Satch Boogie...and Friends. Whoooo, did we miss any? Oh, and the bonus of Neal Schon and Doug Doppler jumping onstage at the end of the second San Fran show.

Of all the shows we've seen now with Joe, the Evening with Joe Satriani setlist from the ITLIS tour is our absolute FAVORITE of all time!! It was amazing!!! I still don't know how Joe did it, that was an incredible amount of work on his part but he came out smiling every night :) I think that tour is about the time Joe mighta realized he had some new and very devoted fans in us as we had platinum tix for one San Fran show, and then won aftershows for 3 out of these six shows of the tour, lol!! My son is VERY lucky in the drawings and I ain't complainin!!

That's my story and I'm stickin toit!! :)
