More blue, more blue!!

Satch on drums wasn't half bad. He did better than Sammy. Thanx for the vid!

Bluebuffalo: have you seen any shows in Tahoe? Not sure how the Chickenfoot shows will go but the last few Sammy shows have had real sucky crowds. Too many drunks and too much bs going on with pushing and shoving and little to no security. Hope it goes better for the CF shows.

have a great day all!

michelle - Yeah...Friday was hangover day. It was a former co-worker's birthday Thursday night, so a bunch of us went out to celebrate. We all drank so much they gave us a free round of shots at one point...haha! It was nice.

And I live within walking distance of the bar I went to, so as for the question of who will drive? No idea! ;-)

Ethn Hayabusa - Interesting to see you don't care for much on NOTE...if I had to guess I would've said that's an album you listen to a lot.

And you don't like Flavor Crystal 7? That's my No. 2 on EOC (behind Champagne?).

Skippygirl - "I go away for a weekend and there's pages of posts to catch up on."

Of course! You aren't allowed to leave...didn't someone tell you?

Listening to: Kenny Wayne Shepherd - Live On (current song: Everytime It Rains)

Hey Joe,

I am a high schooler from Westchester County, NY. I started playing guitar a year and a half and have started a band with my buddy, a bassist currently looking for a singer and a drummer. As silly as it sounds, I am pretty much the best guitarist with just my knowledge of reading music and my fluid soloing skills like legato, sweeping, tapping, and string skipping. I am very shy and I wanna try to connect with the audience. Do you have any suggestions?

Also I am a totally gear freak. I own some stuff and my mom says i earned through hard work and practice. I realized that gear in guitarland is expensive and I am wondering if you went through the same thing when you were playing early on.

Do you have any advice for a kid like me?

Don1963, I've never been to Lake Tahoe period. I've been to Jackpot Nevada which is on the NE corner of the border. Complete Opposite of where the concert is. My wife and I are making a B-day road trip with an order of Chickenfoot for dinner. I stay sober for concerts, this way I can remember them in moments of reflection and such. Since I stay sober I'm able to maintain a level head and and make sure the drunks puke on their own shoes. lol.

bluebuffalo: I've never been to Tahoe myself, but I know that Sammy has a Cabo Wabo at Harvey's, so I was assuming that he had a huge fan base there. Maybe they are just a quiet, laid back group of people. That would be fine with me.

I will be sober there with you. Nothing pisses me off more at a concert than someone who has had way too much of something intoxicating. I remember the Chickenfoot gig in Seattle, I missed all of 'Learning to Fall' because some prick was trying to push his way to the front of an already overcrowded audience the whole time that the song was playing. At least a couple security dudes jumped over the gate and sent that guy on his way. To top it off, throughout the whole show, I had Mr. forceful headbanger next to me, and he would randomly start bouncing off the people around him, trying to start moshing. No matter how good the band you're seeing is playing, unruly folks can ruin an entire show for me. Luckily in Seattle, I was about 10 feet from Joe, so in between being bounced off of and pushed, I was in heaven!

Sammy opened the Cabo Wabo in Lake Tahoe in 2004...he originally wanted one in Las Vegas, but that planning didn't work out.

For at least as long as that Cabo Wabo has been open, he's played shows in Lake Tahoe on Cinco de Mayo weekend. So I'm sure he has a sizeable fanbase that looks forward to shows there, but being a resort town I'm sure there are also a lot of tourists.

I'm expecting a few more die-hards and a few more drunk people, but other than that it should be a fairly "normal" show. I think if we're there early, we'll be close enough to where the experience will be just like any other show.

Mikesb- Funny you mention the next button. My wife which I have already told you guys is not a big music fan. Vai drives her absolutely crazy. I mean she can take most of a song until he starts in with the squeaks and strange speech like warbles. Then she says please change it. PLEASE. I laugh for a song or two and change the cd to Chickenfoot. She say's "Thank God for Sammy"

JOE: That instrument swicth stuff is FFUUUNNNN! I'm glad you got a chance to see what it is like behind them drums. Mosta the time you can't hear much. My old drummer I worked with years back used to cut off the tips of his sticks while hammering on a cymbol....he would spin them around to play for a couple of beats....then discard them on my head! Very intertaining untill he hit my guitar! That was the end of THAT! I've been very aware you are proficient on bass and many other instruments. Not weird at all to see you there. It is so kool to hear your having a blast!. Now I'm 51 today. Yes I feel OLD. Not too old to play. It looks like Rusty Cooley has indorsed a Peavey amp now. Something that can handel his 7 & 8 strings.

Hey all, since this is my very first piece of music that I have posted to these forums I will let you all know that I'm no stranger to criticism, and all, so I don't expect to be treated any differently than you would, but I would ask that you do offer creative criticism if you have any, thank you.

This song is based in the D Major - B Minor Scale occasionally using the augmented 5th note. I use several tempo changes and some complex rhythms at times. All verses are improvised but all are original.

This song was done at my home studio, which consists of my computer and my keyboard along with a few expensive pieces of software for making music.

I hope you all find it listenable and enjoyable, it is indeed aimed at Star Wars fans like Scubadaz and myself.

So without further adieu and with plenty of cliched catchphrases, I present:

The Dark Lord and His Humble Apprentice

Enjoy

WhammyFreak
