Guitarvibes--All those photos from the vid you showed were incredible. I also enjoyed the "My animated World" by Jelle Van Dun--the wall games were a great touch. I like the way the camera technique make it look like he was moving around on invisible wheels as if skating without skates! I liked the way he cocked his leg at one of those "stop posts"! LOL!Also "Books on a Shelf" by Jason Crigler was amazing. Great song. What a special life story! Very inspiring!

js1200js1000--I hope you have the opportunity to listen to "Nights with Alice" and get to several concerts this year with Chickenfoot, Alice Cooper and others in your area. Btw, I saw a movie on DVD last night set in New York State and the Canadian providence just across the border from it.

The movie "Frozen River" was about the teaming up of a white woman and a Mohawk woman both who were under duress from family tragedies of their own. What a touching/moving film! It reminded me of AVENIDA REVOLUCION (CF)....that immigrants come to the US via both northern as well as southern borders as well as from the oceans. The people who "prey" on them are equally desperate to pay for necessities--shelter, food, provision for their children! I don't often think of the border with Canada as a smuggling conduit. Call it denial and my distorted thinking of Canadian being so fair and pure a peopled country. Desperation is everywhere there are people! RUNNIN' OUT......this so hits home! Running out of income by the end of 2 weeks pay......to scrape for nickles, dimes and quarters for a few pieces of fruit and a few carrots, lettuce and cucumbers for a dinner salad. Forget about chicken or any other kind of meat! That's where my Steve and I are now! I don't want to ask my retired mom for help......but what else can I do??? Doing without is not an option when one takes doctor prescibed medications......eating is a must!

Do the Stu--Yes, man. THINKING OF YOU is my favorite song (up there with CRYIN') on TIME MACHINE! I have been so into "House Full of Bullets" from Joe's Crystal Planet this week. The legato in that song is so compellling/touching. Another favorite song is YOU SAVED MY LIFE from STRANGE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC. All classic Joe Satriani creations! PSATMOR--Professor Satch, Revelation and Andalusia delight my senses!

To all T2Jers--Just wanted to let you know that this "summer flu" as a guy at work called his illness is f**kin' serious. Bob (another library page who is so thin to begin with and lost weight to the point of near skeletal) said he went to the emergency room last week when his flu symptoms got worse and he could barely breathe. (I was reminded of Joe performing while he had pneumonia.) Bob is so dedicated and so in need of income that he came to work ill because pages don't get paid unless they show up for work (no sick days!) I noticed him last week coughing and while my heart went out to him, I kept my distance because I didn't want to catch the bug. He told me at that point he was "getting over" the flu. Then I didn't see him for about a week. Yesterday he told me his doctor (at the ER) diagnosed pneumonia and told him to stay home from work for another 2 weeks at least and gave him an Rx for antibiotics and 2 inhalers. "If I were a healer, I'd use my hands..." Sammy Hager of Chickenfoot! I so want this guy to be well! And I wish all of you in Satchland--Health, health, health!!! Please see a doctor if you are ill--respiratory illness can be serious--assume it is unless a doctor tells you otherwise and gently encourage others who cough on an ongoing basis to see a doctor asap.

Good news: Love for Jimi Hendrix is universal--example: Book for teens/young adults....JIMI & ME by J Adoff in fiction section of my local city library. Haven't read it yet, but plan to.

After great Irish Breakfast tea this morning, just checking in.

Gotta get ready for work. Take care.

TheHawkGuy--The first guy you posted playing the Star Spangled Banner was so scary, I barely got through watching 2 minutes of it. Jimi Hendrix did the "standard" that is, of course, legend. He and his guitar were ONE. Steve Vai played reverantly, beautifully and memorably. It was scary when he tossed his guitar.......thank goodness a guitar tech caught it!

I can't get enough of the guitar masters!

Now to work with me!

DotheStu,

How was Santa Cruz? What were the highlights of your trip?

Eddie Van Halen and his hand surgery sounded a little scary to me. I have a ganglion cyst on my left middle finger at the joint nearest my fingernail that has needed a few treatments of Kennalog(sp?) injections. I hope it heals completely. I don't want surgery!

Plant a garden. Grow yer own.

9 pages behind.

My son's band has a gig at a local club tonight at 9:00. About ten kids already showed up here. Feckin crowd control and they haven't even left the house yet! lol! Plenty of roadies for this gig. Two of the girls just bought band t-shirts so they can represent at the show. lol! Another girl dropped by to buy a cd because she can't go tonight. This is their first gig since the cd's were finished, and they've already sold almost 20. Hopefully they'll sell a bunch tonight.

As for me, I've been up since 5 a.m. and had to work a full day, so it's time for a quick face dive into my pillow for a nap before the show.

Joe I bought a JS1200 last year during the CD/DVD 20th Anniversary Promotion of the Surfing With The Alien give away. I have yet to receive this autographed copy.

What shall I DO?

Can you help me to get an autographed copy?

Cappy, you funnah! Since we paid for all 100 cd's, we get our copies for free :-) Sorry bout the crap going on with yer peeps. That sucks hard. It's all about early detection. Any testing that can be done - DO IT! These people with the "I'd rather not know" attitude are so wrong. Of course you don't wanna know, but the sooner you do, the sooner measures can be taken to fix the problem. My pop waited and waited. Instead of having a cancerous polyp removed in the early stages when he saw signs, he waited till it was stage 4 colon/rectal cancer. He's very lucky to be alive, but he'll never be the man he was.

Geez - that was a downer...

So, I'm off to see the boys kick ass :-)

Skippygirl - Santa Cruz is much more than just a theme park on the beach, but yes...that's one of the main attractions there. :-) It's also one of the oldest theme parks in the US (100+ years).

Most of the rides there are average, except for a roller coaster or two that are very cool. But it's fun because it's RIGHT THERE and pretty cheap (they don't charge admission, you only pay per ride). It's a definite must-see if/when you visit the US.

bluebuffalo - I looked around...I think the band you're thinking of (from Little Nicky) is Filter.

Thanks for listening to Metric...I know they're different from what people like here, but there's plenty of interesting stuff in their music still. I love their singer's voice, and the production is top notch...

cheese101 - "Satch Fevah" would be nice (or maybe Satchafunkalitis?), but, to answer your question, "viral" is a marketing strategy.

It's usually internet-based, but it doesn't have to be. The idea is you create a small website or release a video teaser of something, and fans find it interesting or funny enough to forward it to friends (it spreads like a virus). Vox could have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on ads in guitar magazines, but these clips were probably filmed in a matter of minutes and might end up reaching more people...

Sylvannerese - Awesome...hope you have a great time at the show (and it's a great choice for a first one)! :-)

Ticket fees do suck, all fans hate them, but there unfortunately isn't really a way around them... So we have to put up with it...argh.

GoldenGirl2 - I've been to Santa Cruz so many times in recent years, it's hard to pick highlights. I haven't even taken pictures my last few trips, because it seems like I'm there so often.

But one thing I did this trip that I haven't really done before is drive around the UCSC campus. It's beautiful up in the mountains.

michelle - Enjoy the show! Actually, it might be over by now, so...how was it?

Aww man, I'm so proud of these kids! They really kicked ass! A bunch of their friends showed up and packed the front. They knew a lot of the words too, so they were all singing and rockin' out. I took some vid of the 2nd & 3rd songs they played, but the stage lighting was crap for video, so I stopped. My daughter took an assload of pics. When they get them up on their myspace page I'll throw out the link. My hubs was so proud. He was rockin' out harder at this show than I've ever seen him at ANY show before. lol! G.A.M.

The band after them was the headliner - A Breath Beyond Broken. I think they're from Mass. They're on tour and happened to mention that they didn't have a place to crash for the night. Poor kids. lol! I think some dude walked up to the stage at the end of the set and offered them his place, so that was cool. They had great stage presence, and the girl kicked ass - no mamby-pamby bullshit. lol! She rocked.

It was a great night. Tomorrow, however, is prolly gonna suck beings that it's almost midnight and I have to wake up at 5:00 a.m. for work.

Do The Stu, your right it was Filter that I was thinking of. I only mean the vibe and echo from the voice. That's what made me think of Filter when I was listening to Metric. I'll listen to it again

Pip: "flat chat" is the expression.

Working hard on a few new apps. We tied 2-2 in soccer this morning, hard close game. I scored one and got one assist. Shoulda got a penalty. Got axed from behind in the box about to shoot, but the ref waved it off! Damn!

The backlog for the site is building up too fast! I can't put them up fast as I get them.

GG2 - I had a ganglion on each wrist many years ago. had them both cut out and one came back. One day I was rubbing the one that came back and it burst. It felt so weird. Since then have had no problems.
