Hi Joe! My son and I saw your San Francisico concert last fall. We did the meet and greet and you fixed my camera for me! thanks! The show was awesome! It was a birthday gift for my son. he loved it!

My son loves to play guitar and you are his favorite player. he has a YouTube site with a lot of covers from your songs. if you get a chance to check out his site and and give him some feedback, that would be amazing! he does lessons on your songs too and he gets a lot of compliments.

his YouTube site is Vaialation1232

Thanks Joe and I wish you continued success and happiness! Cindy Vance

Life Explained

On the first day, God created the dog and said:

'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.'

The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?'

So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said:

'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.'

The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?'

So God agreed.

On the third day, God created the cow and said:

'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.'

The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years.. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?'

So God agreed again.

On the fourth day, God created humans and said:

'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.'

But the human said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?'

'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.'

So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves.

For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family.

For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren.

And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

Ten Peeves that Dogs Have About Humans

'1' Blaming your farts on me...... not funny... not funny at all !!!

--------------------------------------------------

'2' Yelling at me for barking.

I'M A FRIGGIN' DOG

--------------------------------------------------

'3' Taking me for a walk, then not letting me check stuff out.

Exactly whose walk is this anyway?

--------------------------------------------------

'4' Any trick that involves balancing food on my nose.

Stop it!

--------------------------------------------------

'5' Any haircut that involves bows or ribbons.

Now you know why we chew your stuff up when you're not home.

--------------------------------------------------

'6' The sleight of hand, fake fetch throw.

You fooled a dog! Whoooo Hoooooooo what a proud moment for the top of the food chain.

--------------------------------------------------

'7' Taking me to the vet for 'the big snip', then acting surprised when I freak out every time we go back!

--------------------------------------------------

'8' Getting upset when I sniff the crotches of your guests.

Sorry, but I haven't quite mastered that handshake thing yet.

--------------------------------------------------

'9' Dog sweaters.. Hello ???

Haven't you noticed the fur?

--------------------------------------------------

'10' How you act disgusted when I lick myself.

Look, we both know the truth. You're just jealous.

I can't speak about Berklee because I didn't even apply. Yes, they are more jazz oriented, but there's plenty of jazz and fusion at MI. The program is tailored for people who have some musical knowledge already. This means that not only do you have to be a good rhythm/lead player, you need to know how to read music, know music theory and ear training.

Having said that, if you feel you are weak in one or more of these areas, you can probably still get in, but probably for the 2 year degree (GIT). After you catch up, you can switch to the degree program if you want. This can be intimidating, but for example, I didn't have any formal ear training in the past, but I've played by ear for years so I aced the test (it was pretty simple, though).

In my case, I knew Berklee was financially out of the question. Because of the fact that not only did I get in here but I also skipped a couple of levels, I know I would have passed the admission tests at Berklee too. But like you said, it's pretty expensive. On top of that, I don't care for the weather over there either.

One thing you should know is that we have professors here that either went to Berklee and/or taught there, so some methods are going to be very similar, like modern music theory and stuff...

So how do you do it? There's two tests, written and live playing(I think it's pretty much the same at Berklee, I can't remember). After you apply (they'll ask you questions about music theory and stuff to see if you know, first) they'll send you a packet with a written test that you'd have a set amount of time to finish and send back(a week or so). Also, you'll have to tape yourself playing set things (blues, rock lead, set rhythms, read some charts, scales, chord inversions). For this tape, you'll have to do one take, no edits. Then you put all this stuff together and send it to them and they'll let you know.

How is class? Pretty fucking sweet I'll say! Like any college, you'll determine your progress, but it's all out there for you. There's a lot of options that you can use to learn. I find myself not having enough time to do everything I should be doing. We joke all the time that we know people who go to med school or whatever and how they tell us about this crazy partying and drinking they have going on and how we never do that, because we're freaking studying all the time! lol... Like I said, it's up to you... When I hear a classmate writing a kick ass solo for the improv class, I get inspired and go write more music... I pay a lot of money to go to school so I should take it seriously, right?

Hollywood? It's alright, I guess. I don't care about famous people, so I'm annoyed by the hundreds of jaywalking clueless tourists most of the time. I don't consider myself a star-struck person, so when I see famous people at my grocery store, I honestly don't really care. There's a bunch of weirdos here too, so that's... interesting... I'll be leaving this crazy area when I graduate, but the town in general is pretty good. I love the weather and the art scene is pretty cool, too...

I don't know if I left something out... Let me know...

Skippygirl: I highly recommend DT. They really mix it up live, heavy stuff with lighter songs, it is a very enjoyable show. Don't expect Chickenfoot-style music though, or else you'll be sorely dissapointed.

Today we were out on a boat ride on White Bear Lake, north of St Paul. Sooooooo relaxing. The photo catalog is coming together quite nicely as well. Off to bed, I'm very tired now. Later!
