Red Hot Chili Peppers End Break After Two Years

The lengthy Red Hot Chili Peppers hiatus is over - the band has announced it will reconvene in October.

Drummer Chad Smith, who used his downtime to form supergroup Chickenfoot with Sammy Hagar, insists he and his bandmates plan to “jam” together for the first time in two years this autumn, ending reports of a split.

Smith tells Billboard.com:

“Everybody was like, ‘Y’know, I really like having this time off, not being a Chili Pepper and doing other things… It’ll be two years in September, so now we’re ready.

“You can’t force people to play when they don’t want to play or aren’t ready to play or whatever - not in our band, anyway.”

Have any of you guys seen the video by Steve Vai and Andy Timmons doing a remake of M. Jackson's Beat It. It's pretty cool. It's on you tube.

Conch - I think ole Chunky Monkey was posting metaphorically. I'll hold my hand up in shame and admit that I didn't think too much about cancer until in recent times when it has done for a shit load of my friends and family. The point is, when you think of the amount of money and resources spent on killing peeps rather than feeding and curing them, well it's an absolute fucking disgrace. Methinks Chunks was just picking the most obvious major leader. I could be entirely wrong though, annyhoo pass me a beer!

Capy, here's yer beer. There is so much in life that is unfair. Massacres (animals and humans) are happening all over the globe, and the public is more interested in what that little bitch Perez Hilton has to say. I got a sore spot when it comes to the subjects of cancer and Obama. G.W. made such a feckin mess of things, and peeps demand that Obama must fix it ALL a.s.a.p. Health care is a sham. My pop wasn't old enough for medicare, and has his own business, so he had no ins. when he got sick (the main reason it went to stage 4 cancer). When he finally got some through welfare, they would boot him off as soon as whatever document they were supposed to get didn't show up. He'd show up for chemo or a test, and they'd tell him he was dropped. They'd have to call again and again to get it fixed to continue his treatment. Cancer took Obama's g-ma, so he's gonna do whatever he can to help, as opposed to that c**t G.W. who didn't seem to worry about anything but war. Jayzus, don't get me started on that. How bout I just go get a nice cold shot of Jager, and clink my little glass to yer beer. Cheers! Now, if we could get Al to make a couple samishes...

Those Chickenfoot videos from Halifax are pretty cool. I like the Oh Yeah one of the crowd...cool to see the number of fists in the air increase as the song goes on.

turbo236 - Cool...it'll be nice to see you at the Lake Tahoe show. Keep in touch here...maybe we can work out a place to meet up and say "hey" at some point during that weekend.
Guitarman77897 - I don't know much about that particular bass you mentioned, but I will say that it's important to try before you buy... Sorry I can't offer more help.

I wish there were more bassists here...

michelle :- Not so much a misunderstanding, maybe.Although I was unaware of Obama's Grandma, this was not about him personally.Replace his name with any political leader at any time in history and then think about the money and resources spent on weapons and warfare that should be put towards less destructive ways of improving human life and well being. It is not my intention to insult or offend anyone personally, now or in the future, so my deepest apologies to those of you who may feel I have. I'm just calling it as I see it,as I'm sure many others do too.Hope that clears things up.Personally,I think President Obama is the best thing to happen to the USA in a long, long time.More power to him!!!

Hi Joe! Have fun!!!!

I have returned from what was by far the most enjoyable vacation I've ever had. Oh wait, it was a business trip!!! (not joking!).

All the pieces fell together and on Saturday I drove from Minneapolis all the way to the US-Canada border, visited the Grand Portage falls, and then made my way back stopping on every little river, creek, fall and lakeside rest stop I could find. Took me 17 hours!!!! Plenty of great pics, I will post them this week, but for now I want to share this with everyone, as it sums up perfectly what the day was all about.

Driving towards Canada. The audio was not added after the fact, it just so happened to be the song I was listening to while driving, I just fired up the cell phone video camera and got caught in the moment. Watch it all the way through for full enjoyment. Later!

HEY wolf 2 if you want some true help with your schizophrenia theres something called hair analysis where you send some hair samples from your head to a lab and they analyze it to see how much of toxic metals are in your body and how much vitamins and minerals your body needs and its something that i have been doing for about 15 years or so but it isnt a joke like people say it is with natural remedies and herbs and what not it really is all you need to get out of that rut your in even i almost became schitzo because of the overwhelming stress i was having and i had severe depression and have even been suicidal because i simply could not deal with the stress but thats all it is if you feel like your depressed or in a rut then you are physically as well as mentally are and thats whats wrong with you because your body is probably full of toxic metals. because how the body deals with stress is that when you get stressed out or mad or scared or have a physical injury like a small cut even it can change your mineral pattern by depleting the vitamins and minerals and replacing it with new and fresh vitamins and minerals to be able to use it for creating the fluids in your body like andrenaline and stomach acid and insulin and whatever else your body needs. and if you dont have the vitamins and minerals you need then they will be replaced by the toxic metals like mercury, arsenic, aluminum,( yes aluminum is a toxic metal and its the one responsible for most health problems like epilepsy and alzheimer's and all the above) and will start giving you deficiencies and even organ failure but most toxic metals are in your brain because you are constantly thinking and fat also is a byproduct of your body that is developed from your immune system like the callous on your feet to store the toxins outside your vital organs so it doesnt cause damage but it hasnt had anything to help it pass through your body so thats why people become so fat especially in the U.S. from all the tuly junk food, but it stays in you because it needs something to help pass it through and extra virgin coconut oil is the best thing you can possibly find to help remove toxins from your body, you can eat it daily and you can put it heavily on your skin and you will feel a difference and lose weight fast but i'll try and look up more on where you can get the hair analysis if you would like to learn more, but your body is basically an auto immune system with eyes and it just needs something to help give it a boost but when you think about it people have survived from everything imaginable on this earth like airplane crashes, scorpions, gunshots, snake bites, shark attacks, fire, lightning, getting sucked into jet engines and they still survived i mean your body is built to last apparently someone designed us because that aint no accident, like a kid breaking a window with a baseball, but anyways would you be interested? -Slyro

oh yeah i forgot to mention it might be to late to reverse it completely if you have already been diagnosed with it, i was able to reverse it about four or five years ago before i started having the symptoms, but you can indeed change to a more stable life and you probably will be able to get off your medication if you pay close attention to how well you eat and how health concious you become but i cant say exactly because you never know how your body will react, but i promise you it will change you quite a bit, but one thing more i have to warn you about is that you will be going through stages and might start having episodes and you will revisit basically all the bad major feelings you have had that led you to this point as the toxic metals come out so you will have to have the people around you keep an eye on you so you dont go beserk or anything because i have even had mental episodes, matter of fact i had one two or three days ago when i had a phycotic flurry and started breaking and stabbing stuff LOL!!!! but not that im violent or anything i just needed to get what was built up off my chest cause life for me has never been so baron than right now and i know im not the only one but yes just a reminder but hopefully it will make a big enough improvement so you can get off any meds or treatments you may be taking, but take care -Slyro

Skippygirl - I posted a reply to Phil on twitter, but I'll repeat it here in case you didn't see it... The "rain" video is actually the intro to that group doing Toto's song Africa:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09LQlfMmW7s

Very cool, I thought...

Blue_Moon - There's this fancy schmancy site called YouTube that you may have heard of...! As posted by Skippygirl, cheese101, and Pip Satrini:

Oh Yeah (crowd)
Oh Yeah (stage)
Highway Star 1
Highway Star 2
Soap On A Rope

elpp - Welcome back! It's awesome how the timing worked out in the video. I had a few moments like that on my trip earlier this year...I was listening to Led Zeppelin's How The West Was Won while driving through the Petrified Forest, and it started snowing when Moby Dick came on.

Also on that trip, I had to give my notice that I'd be leaving my job. I really didn't want to deal with that while on vacation, but the timing kind of forced it. I ended up calling from the parking lot of Meteor Crater park...haha. So then I was leaving, driving down the hill with open space for miles, and I had another nice music moment (with Neal Schon's Taken There, from his I On U solo album).

I have videos of both moments...I need to put them on YouTube. In fact, I have a lot of videos from concerts and other things that need to go on YouTube too. I've never uploaded anything there...that needs to change.

...Austin...
