Tonight's Chickenfoot show was awesome...the best of the four I've seen so far. The only negative I can think of would be the missing songs (Runnin' Out and Highway Star) compared to a few months ago, but there are other jams and stuff in the set that they didn't do at the other shows.

I've said this before, but the band has so much energy and it seems like they've been playing together for years. Sammy and Chad mentioned the Fillmore show a few times, and even continued some of the stage talk from back then...it was cool that they remembered.

I don't know if they've done this at any other recent show, but they opened the show slightly different before going into Avenida Revolution. Instead of the band launching into it all together, they did it one by one with an improv thing. Chad came out and started playing drums, then Joe did guitar on top of that, and Mikey added bass. Sammy came out next and they launched into the song.

Show highlights include EVERYTHING, and I really do mean that. It was all good. Joe's shirt said "Berzerkeley"...that about sums up the night.

It was great to see Al Surfer briefly and cheese101/Tracie and Chris again, and roo for the first time. It would've been nice to hang out a bit more, but there's always the next gig! ;-)

...Austin...

Oh Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a night!! Met Austin in line for a minute. Nice seeing you again.

CF was OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!! The energy & enthusiasm is absolutely infectious!! They really have a blast together and are all playing great. Joe was perfect as always!! Lets his guitar do the talking. Nothing new to Joe fans though I know. I can only hope that I'm doing as well as Sammy is when I hit that age (sooner rather than later). The guy acts like Steven Tyler from the 70's!! Loved having Chad on guitar & Sammy on drums.

Queensryche was horrible in my opinion. Sounded like a mash-up of Ratt, Scorpions, Judas Priest, with the singer trying to act like Bruce Dickinson. Wasn't pretty and I'm mad that it made me think of 2 bands I loved in the early 80's - JP & IM. The worst part was that their appearance caused Davy Knowles to do a shortened one-man acoustic set. Davy did a great job though & I've now got his cd.

So my friend won the aftershow passes and being sort of an old hat at meeting Joe we hung back a bit when the 30 or so people with various passes went in so we'd be near the back of the crowd. Hung out a bit longer, chatted with Mike Manning a bit, and the next thing you know we're sort of forgotten and all of the other people have been shuffled through & are heading out the venue. We meander to the back and have a seat on a sofa backstage. Joe comes on over and I mention that roo from T2J is outside and has come from Australia. Joe says "what's he doing here?", lol!!!! So I say "he came to see you Joe" and he says "let's get him back here". Too funny. Joe is so selfless he didn't realize that roo came all that way to see him.

Every time I meet Joe he is always so gracious and patient! What a terrific human being. Takes time to chat and cares about what you're saying. I told him Jeff Beck used my Sharpee and he stuck it in his pocket, lol! roo told him that his Sharpee had just been to a Myley Cyrus show in L.A. and Joe said he didn't want anything to do with that pen, lol! Joe & I then chatted about the bizarre time he played the national Anthem at an A's/Yankees game, but the coliseum guy didn't plug him into the sound system. Told him I have a video of him from my seat playing "air guitar".

Also met Chad & Mike - great guys, but definitely much more reserved than Joe when meeting someone. Makes sense though as I'm sure there are pretty aggresive knuckleheads at VH & RHCP shows compared to the fans Joe meets.

I bought 3 CF posters and Joe, Mike, & Chad all signed each of them. Mike made a joke about they better not show up online for sale & I assured him they were for my 2 kids & my wife.

Also met John Luini & Jeff Campitelli again. Both so cool! Got a good picture of Jeff & Chad having a manly drummer's-hug.

It was really nice to meet and hang out with roo! Glad we were able to get him back there after traveling so far.

Sorry I didn't get to meet Tracie though.

Great night, Joe's the man, and I'm tired so that's all.

One more note - I asked Joe about the dvd and he said he watched it today and it is very cool with some amazing goodies on it. It should be out in January.

Having been to the Greek Theatre before to see Santana, it would have been special to see/hear Joe with Sammy, Mike and Chad in Berkeley. Too bad, I'm not in a good place healthwise right now or Steve and I would have gotten tickets and gone! Oh, well. I'm sure Joe has something planned for 2010.

Gotta get breaky, so just a quick one.

Chickenfoot kicked ARSE! woohoo. excellent, so glad I made the trip. And a MASSIVE thanks to Al Surfer (yes, I do know your real name! LOL) for mentioning me to Joe so I could join the party. I owe ya one.

So, talk more later, see you Sunday Austin, are we meeting up with anyone else for the afternoon?

Joe, you rock, of course I went all that way to see Chickenfoot. Why else would I be in America? Huh? :)

Looking forward to a legendary last show of the tour on Sunday.

Wow....Black Clouds and Silver Linings really is very very very good. Especially the special edition with the covers...Speaking of good music, Muse's latest offering is pretty good as well.

Life without the music of Joe Satriani would be a mistake - a humble opinion...although it's a very real opinion to me as your music has been as much of a force in my life as many of the most profound experiences that I have ever lived through. Sometimes it was your music that kept me going...

My question is, as I'm in the process of writing a book (several honestly) I'm wanting to include various things that I have come across that have inspired me greatly and perhaps changed my life for the better. I have been playing your music (attempting too lol) since the late 80's when I first picked up the guitar and consider you and Hendrix my most important musical influences. I am requesting your permission to note several of your songs at various times throughout my book (to allow my readers to know exactly what songs of yours I was listening to at what points in my life). What is your perferred method of obtaining permission to be allowed such an opportunity to benefit both myself as well as my (hopefully) future audience?

PS: To say I love your music is to say Jimi Hendrix was just a guitar player Joe...thanks for your contribution to life. In life, we listen to the music we enjoy but feel the music we love. Please let me know, thank you.

Minimoog- Thanks to the link to that article, that sounds awesome, a must have. Question is, anyone know US release date? I just saw UK mentioned.

ON a totally unrelated note ---I am starting to understand Wolf2's posts. Should I worry? :-)

Another Brick- Good Luck with writing your books. That sounds like a awesome concept . Hope that works out for you.

Roo - Your Miley remark made for good banter with Joe though, lol. Really enjoyed meeting you and it was my pleasure to help get you back stage!! Mike Manning wasn't budging when I explained it to him, but Joe lit up when I mentioned it to him.

I've got a great picture of you & I with Joe by the way.

I'm flying high today thinking about Joe's guitar and the CF experience!

I'm the home plate umpire for my youngest son's little league baseball game ("fall ball") in a few hours. Hope my mind doesn't wander to Joe's bits in "Turning Left" for example when I should be watching for balls & strikes, lol.

Bonus for last night was my nice chat with Jeff (& ribbing him for looking like the guy on Myth Busters). He is always so friendly just like Joe. Probably why they are such good friends & band mates.

Have fun Sunday and more importantly enjoy your visit here with your family!!
