Beautiful Day in San Fran yesterday with me older sister and Steve. We went to Lovejoys for lunch--great Mango tea and cucumber sandwiches, salads, scones with cream and strawberry jam. Petit fours and chocolate truffles to finish off. The tea is so yum and soothing. Steve said real men drink tea! He is the love of my life! And my sister is one of my best friends.

Joe--I hope your wife, son and your sisters and brother are doing well. I hope you are in excellent health. AND I hope Chad, the drum major aims his sticks away from you and runs 3 or 4 miles every day to settle down his heebee geebees! He needs a human size exercise wheel......sized way up from the hamster wheel! LOL!

elpp - Yes, the Black Crowes are still worth seeing. They played a week of shows at the Fillmore in SF last December. I saw the last three shows there...they played a completely different set each night, so I heard about 60 different songs.

They still JAM and it's awesome. Their newest album, Warpaint, is more laid back/acoustic than their other work, but they still play old stuff...everything balances nicely.

And my dad had a great time at the DT gig...at the moment Steve Vai is his favorite guitarist (lately he's been REALLY getting into his back catalog), so he loved it. And my dad was a drummer in high school / college, so he liked the drum solo part of the song too. Perfect...

BigBunny - Those are my three favorite albums as well...not bad. :-)
Listening to: Institute - Distort Yourself (current song: Ambulances)

This one of Gavin Rossdale's (Bush) short-lived side projects from 2005. Good music, if you like that kind of thing...

michelle: I believe you were asking about Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats CD in a previous post.

As you know, it isn't available YET. However, if you go to the band's MySpace page, you can listen to quite a few tracks from the new CD, "Meet The Meatbats", and there is a link there to pre-order the new album and receive an autographed booklet while supplies last!
The album drops on 15 September; I just placed my order on Saturday and they still had autographed booklets in stock.

I figured since you and I had never interacted on here that there was no better place to start than the Bombastic Meatbats!!

I hope this isn't information that has already been posted as I seem to be the master at posting old news!

I was the welcoming party to let Chickenfoot through the gate when the van went to pick them up for soundcheck. I didn't plan it that way, It just worked out that way. I had nothing better to do after visiting the aquarium and CNN center so I went over to scope out how things were going with the setup while Mrs. B took a nap. There were a few folks hanging out waiting for autographs so I decided to hang out in the rain and see if I could catch some pics. I saw the van leave out with a manager type guy in the passenger seat so I knew where they were headed.

A few minutes later the van rounded the corner with Mike and Joe. The driver blew the horn so jumped over and moved the barricade to allow them to drive in. Mike came over real fast and signed a few autographs but they had to get in where the crew wanted to film them in sound check.

The van left again and returned with Sammy and so I opened the gate again.

So I went over to get in line which had held way down because of the rain.

Anyway I ended up 3rd row right in front of Joe.

More later

Nice ass...I mean...ahem...nice tattoo picture of Chad ya got there. lol! What I wanna know is...if one hand is on the poster, and the other is holding down the back of his shirt, what's covering the meatbat? LOL!

Gotta tell y'all ahead of time, my new word is gonna be meatbat. lmao! That's as good as fucktard and cockfart IMO!

Burly, good times man, good times! Mad withdrawal though. lol! Third row is very pretty good! I'm sure you made it onthe vid from there!

How To Sing The Blues in 20 Easy Lessons:

1. Most Blues begin "Woke up this mornin'..."

2. "I got a good woman" is a bad way to begin the Blues, unless you stick somethin' nasty in the nex' line like, "I got a good woman, with the meanest face in town."

3. The Blues is simple. After you get the first line right, repeat it. Then find somethin' that rhymes... sort of: "Got a good woman with the meanest face in town. Yeah, I got a good woman with the meanest face in town. Got teeth like Margaret Thatcher, and she weigh 500 pound."

4. The Blues is NOT about choice. You stuck in a ditch, you stuck in a ditch--ain't no way out.

5. Blues cars: Chevys, Fords, Cadillacs and broken-down trucks. Blues don't travel in Volvos, BMWs, or Sport Utility Vehicles. Most Blues transportation is a Greyhound bus or a southboun' train. Jet aircraft and state-sponsored motor pools ain't even in the runnin'. Walkin' plays a major part in the blues lifestyle. So does fixin' to die.

6. Teenagers can't sing the Blues. They ain't fixin' to die yet. Adults sing the Blues. In Blues, "adulthood" means being old enough to get the electric chair if you shoot a man in Memphis.

7. Blues can take place in New York City but not in Hawaii or any place in Canada. Hard times in Minneapolis or Seattle is probably just clinical depression. Chicago, St. Louis, and Kansas City are good places to have the Blues. New Orleans, Memphis, Greenwood, Mobile and Statesboro are even better places to have the Blues cause that's where Blues was born. Actually, a dirt farm in the Mississippi delta is the best possible place to have the Blues. You cannot have the blues in any place that don't get rain.

8. A man with male pattern baldness ain't the blues. A woman with male pattern baldness is. Breaking your leg cause you were skiing is not the blues. Breaking your leg 'cause a alligator be chompin' on it is.

9. You can't have no Blues in a office or a shopping mall. The lighting is all wrong. Go outside to the parkin' lot or sit down by the dumpster.

10. Good places for the Blues:
a. highway
b. jailhouse
c. empty bed
d. bottom of a whiskey glass
Bad places for the Blues:
a. Nordstrom's
b. gallery openings
c. Ivy League institutions
d. golf courses

11. No one will believe it's the Blues if you wear a suit,'lessn you happen to be an ol' ethnic person, and you slept in it.

12. Do you have the right to sing the Blues? Yes,if:

a. you older than dirt
b. you blind
c. you shot a man in Memphis
d. you can't be satisfied
No,if:
a. you have all your teeth
b. you were once blind but now can see
c. the man in Memphis lived
d. you have an inheritance or trust fund

13. Blues is not a matter of color. It's a matter of bad luck. Tiger Woods cannot sing the blues. Sonny Liston could. Ugly white people also got a leg up on the blues.

14. If you ask for water and your darlin' give you gasoline, it's the Blues.
Other acceptable Blues beverages are:
a. cheap wine
b. whiskey or bourbon
c. muddy water
d. nasty black coffee
The following are NOT Blues beverages:
a. Perrier
b. Chardonnay
c. Snapple
d. Slim Fast

15. If death occurs in a cheap motel or a shotgun shack, it's a Blues death. Stabbed in the back by a jealous lover is another Blues way to die. So is the 'lectric chair, substance abuse and dying lonely on a broken down cot. You can't have a Blues death if you die during a tennis match or while getting liposuction.

16. Some Blues names for women:
a. Sadie
b. Big Mama
c. Bessie
d. Fat River Dumpling
17. Some Blues names for men:
a. Joe
b. Willie
c. Little Willie
d. Big Willie

18. Persons with names like Michelle, Amber, Debbie, and Heather can't sing the Blues no matter how many men they shoot in Memphis.

19. Make your own Blues name Starter Kit:
a. name of physical infirmity (Blind, Cripple, Lame, etc.)
b. first name (see above) plus name of fruit Lemon, Lime, Kiwi,(etc.)
c. last name of President (Jefferson, Johnson, Fillmore, etc.)
For example: Blind Lime Jefferson, Jakeleg Lemon Johnson or Cripple Kiwi Fillmore, etc. (Well, maybe not "Kiwi.")

20. I don't care how tragic your life: if you own even one computer, you cannot sing the blues.

happy b-day Axeshredder, u definitely got your present early this year!!

Blackmoon: Regarding your Utube link, that's a very good version of a song that's rather difficult to play properly, specially in a club setting. I like how the guitarist then took off on the outro solo. Nice!

Austin: That's what I wanted to hear, Jams and old hits. Now let's see if my metal friend wants to go, which I doubt.

Turbo236: Thx for the Meatbats links. I had actually downloaded Oh I Spilled My Beer over the weekend but didn't get around to hear it. I put it on at work today and I just had to drop everything and groove for 4 minutes. It's really good!!

Anyway I felt like a complete idiot waiting outside to catch a glimpse of my heroes and then I thought about it and I said to myself "These guys ARE your heroes. Go on live like you are a teenager".

So I stood on my feet all day in the rain until my feet hurt. My quarter mile walk to the Embassy Suites after the show was painful but I had a great time.

First of all the venue was awesome. Words cannot describe the vibe the place had. The Tabernacle is a 99 year old converted church. If you get a chance to go, do it.

Davey Knowles and Back Door Slam rocked. The crowd absolutely loved him. At one point between songs, I could see the expression on his face as he gazed down at the set list and a big smile spread across his face as the crowd wet nuts. I am buying the album.

Chickenfoot came out on fire and went out on fire. I smiled the entire show like a kid in a candy store. I enjoyed being able to watch Joe up close but man Chad Smith is a force to be reckoned with. His kit was literally shaking all night. He was constantly tightening and adjusting his kit. I really think he was tuning as he went along as much as anything. The man is one with his drums. I had as much fun watching him as any of the rest of 'em. I never caught a stick. Joe did flip a pick in my direction but I did'nt have the heart to fight with the kids who were near me. They were Joe fans all the way and was all about his Marshals and guitars.

They played pretty much the whole album with I think the exception of "Runnin' Out" Someone correct me if I am wrong but I don't recall them playing that one.

I was disappointed they did not play "Highway Star" I was so ready to watch Joe do John Lord's part.

Chad came out and interacted with the other guys. He is a riot. He is a kid in a large man's body.

Mike..what can I say? Mike IS responsible for VH signature sound just as much as the others. He deserves this and he is enjoying it.

The rest you will have to wait for the DVD. I won't spoil it. I do have a lot of pics, but probably won't post many of 'em, just the best few on my Facebook.

To the rest of the world. I know there are some of you who want Joe to go back to being Joe and that's cool. But speaking for myself and countless others. We love Chickenfoot here in the States. Rock and Roll has needed this shot in the arm for better than 25 years.

Thank you Joe and all the guys for a very memorable night.

I am still smiling.

O Fudd, thanks for that laugh! When you separate it like that it takes on a whole new meaning. lol! woooo!

Even if I change my name to Big Mama McJefferson, I still can't sing da bwues.

Elpp, That's my fav song so far too! I did take notice that on the interview clip it says OH! I spilled my beer, but on the myfacespacebook page it says OOPS I spilled my beer. Go HERE and listen to the rest of it. It's like Larry Carlton & Stanly Clarke on steroids with Chad (as himself). lol! I already preordered it!

Burly, yer gonna have to change yer last tweet now. lol! Joe's having so much fun with this band. How can ya deny him that? I've never seen him have so much fun on stage as what he's having with Chickenfoot. I love solo Joe like nobody's bidness, but this is FUN!
