that is by far the nastiest foul... just plain awful, and he only got a two month suspension... the other guy would probably never play again... that is criminal...

Skippygirl - Yes, a few of us are getting together before the Lake Tahoe show. I don't know if we've worked out all the details yet, but Tracie, Chris, and I (and maybe bluebuffalo and wife, if they make it in early enough) are planning on eating at Sammy's Cabo Wabo restaurant on Friday night.

We'll be spending most of Saturday in line (along with Mahavishnu/Brian and his wife)...I can access Twitter and T2J from my phone, so I'm sure you'll have plenty of updates.

And there's still time for you to catch a flight out here, by the way! ;-)

turbo236 - Have you worked out all of your Lake Tahoe plans yet? Send me an email (check my profile here) with details and your phone number...if nothing else, we'll at least have to meet up in line and say "hello"...
burly - Oh, I must have misunderstood you...I thought you said they didn't do Highway Star in Atlanta. Or maybe the solo was just different? Oh well...the DVD will soon show/tell all! ;-)
minimoog - We don't have an official release date yet, but I think "fall-ish" is a safe assumption. Any later than that and it'll be about two years old by the time it's finally released.
Listening to: The Killers - Hot Fuss (current song: All These Things That I've Done)

Michelle:Glad you got something out of our first chat! I am honored to have played even a small part in adding the word 'Meatbats' to your vocabulary!

elpp:Good to hear you are enjoying the Meatbats too! I am really surprised nobody else had posted that link sooner (to the pre-order). Like I said before, I am the master at posting old news around here it seems!
I pre-ordered mine without even listening to any of the songs just because of the autographed booklet, but once I got that taken care of I went back to the Myspace page and jammed for a while, pretty good stuff!

Guitarvibes: I couldn't agree more about Neil Young .. I don't have the entire Unplugged album, but I do thoroughly enjoy the tunes that I do have. My favorites being Like a Hurricane and War of Man (from Back to My Roots). I can listen to those on repeat for days at a time. Just as you said, he is very comforting.

EDIT:
Do The Stu: As of right now I am leaving Idaho Friday morning, spending the night in Winnemucca, NV, and heading in to Lake Tahoe on Saturday. It's probably a long shot, but I am going to call the hotel I'm going to stay at in LT and see if I can just drive straight through on Friday and maybe try to meet up with you guys for dinner.
I'm not very good at staying awake while driving, so that's why I planned the overnight in Winnemucca... yada, yada. I'll email you if the details change.

Ian

South Dakota Indians

It's late fall and the Indians on a remote reservation in South Dakota asked their new chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild.

Since he was a chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets. When he looked at the sky, he couldn't tell what the winter was going to be like.

Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he told his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect firewood to be prepared.

But, being a practical leader, after several days, he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, 'Is the coming winter going to be cold?'

'It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold,' the meteorologist at the weather service responded.

So the chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more firewood in order to be prepared.

A week later, he called the National Weather Service again. 'Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?'

'Yes,' the man at National Weather Service again replied, 'it's going to be a very cold winter.'

The chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of firewood they could find.

Two weeks later, the chief called the National Weather Service again. 'Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?'

'Absolutely,' the man replied. 'It's looking more and more like it is going to be one of the coldest winters we've ever seen.'

'How can you be so sure?' the chief asked.

The weatherman replied, 'The Indians are collecting firewood like crazy.'

Remember this whenever you get advice from a government official!

Scooby Doo - Wow, I remember Kansas from way back, early to mid seventies I think (me and Mr Beer have been chatting for a while), around the time of the best of Deep Purple, Led Zep and Pink Floyd, didn't realise you were around my age group. Annyhoo, best of luck to Kerry Livgren and his nearest and dearest.

Satriiani, those are my exact feelings about Led Zeppelin. Great instrumental, the moment the guy starts singing, I have to switch it off :( And I've tried, but there's no use, I think I'm alergic to his voice. The same happens with AC/DC.

The Moral of Auntie Sharon

A teacher gave her class of 11 year olds an assignment: To get their parent to tell them a story with a moral at the end of it.

The next day the kids came back and one by one began to tell their stories.

Ashley said, 'My father's a farmer and we have a lot of egg-laying hens. One time we were taking our eggs to market in a basket on the front seat of the car when we hit a big bump in the road and all the eggs got broken.'

'What's the morale of that story?' asked the teacher.

'Don't put all your eggs in one basket!'

'Very good,' said the teacher.

Next little Sarah raised her hand and said, 'Our family are farmers too. But we raise chickens for the meat market. One day we had a dozen eggs, but when they hatched we only got ten live chicks, and the moral to this story is, 'Don't count your chickens before they're hatched'.'

'That was a fine story Sarah.'

Michael, do you have a story to share?'

'Yes. My daddy told me this story about my Aunty Sharon. Aunty Sharon was a flight engineer on a plane in the Gulf War and her plane got hit.

She had to bail out over enemy territory and all she had was a bottle of whisky, a machine gun and a machete.

She drank the whiskey on the way down so it wouldn't break and then she landed right in the middle of 100 enemy troops.

She killed seventy of them with the machine gun until she ran out of bullets.

Then she killed twenty more with the machete until the blade broke.

And then she killed the last ten with her bare hands.'

'Good heavens,' said the horrified teacher, 'what kind of moral did your daddy tell you from that horrible story?'

'Stay away from Aunty Sharon when she's been drinking.'

You guys were awesome in Myrtle Beach--just the right medicine after a stressful few weeks! Don't know where you found DK & BDS, but glad you did! My husband introduced me to Satch music many years back. We were married for 21 years and worked together 24. He passed away Jan 07. I used "Friends" as backgorund music for a video tribute to him at his service--very fitting for an amazing person who was well liked by many! I love the stories of some of your music on The Electric Joe Satriani-An Anthology--I have a curiosity for peoples' "stories" and for me, these give your music soul. Rock on!
