Chis is a lucky guy to have Tracie as his mom. What a great Mom-son relationship! Being there for each other---that's what it's all about! All the best to the both of you!

elpp; thanx for the good thoughts. just trying to let others know the important thing is to stay positive and show those you care about how much you care, tomorrow may be too late. 3 Chickenfoot shows because they are all within 50-75 miles from our house and since it's all we do for fun these days we're going to 3 of them. when i used to write lyrics it was always with a tune i had worked out in my head but never had the talent to play the tune so.......
michelle; if we could afford it we would be seeing more shows than that!

I saw Dredg again last night...I went to yet another show because I heard they added my all-time favorite song to the set. The band (and the song) sounded great.
I saw MegaBoyd's brother Wyatt and their sister, but Boyd wasn't there. Great show...As Tall As Lions opened; I liked them a lot. Their new CD came out today...I'll post more about them later.
cheese101 - I'm glad Chris's surgery went well. And he ate an Austin-sized meal after...sounds like he must have been hungry! ;-)
turbo236 - Yeah, I completely agree with you. I haven't bought the Astoria CD and probably won't buy this one. It can't be too expensive to add the second disc, you're right.
It stinks that you're still more than a month away from It Might Get Loud, but you have to trust me when I say it's worth the wait. You'll love it...
Let me know if you can't find the Hendrix Woodstock bootleg. Once I'm back in Long Beach (with internet, hopefully), I'll find a way to share it with people here if it isn't available elsewhere.
Ethn Hayabusa - You lose! ;-)
Sticking with guitarists, I have trouble with the name Shepherd (Kenny Wayne Shepherd)...it's a name so many others spell differently (Alan Shepard, etc.), and it's tough to remember who goes with what.
matt king - Very cool! I was wondering what you thought of Chickenfoot...good to hear you enjoyed yourself.
Skippygirl - Your Down The Drain link is broken. And yes, the picture you're talking about is awesome.
axeshredderjc - Did you say anything here about what you thought of It Might Get Loud? I may have missed the post, since I was without internet for a while...
BigBunny - Great question! I just got a new phone so I've been thinking about the ringtone question. I can't decide what to do.
I've always thought RJDV would be a great ringtone...that's probably No. 1 so far. Hmmm...what else? Maybe the intro or outro to Turkey Man? The chorus from Ghost or The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing?
Don1963 - I'm seeing three shows this tour as well (Lake Tahoe, Berkeley, Universal City)...I'm glad I'm not the only one! We're not addicted...right? ;-)

I am new here . Hope I am not jumping in uninvited but my ringtone is Satch Boogie- no one else I know has a ringtone like it . I would love to have Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing but I would probably take too long to answer it . I am just another Joe fan, eternally grateful for the day I first heard his fingers touch the strings. That might sound a little extreme but its true.

BigBunny: To answer your ringtone question; I have used Crowd Chant as mine for probably about two years now. I purchased it from the AT&T Media Mall. Last time I checked, they had a small selection of tunes from Joe and if I remember correctly every song from the Chickenfoot album (except Bitten) was also available for purchase for those of us that use AT&T.

Peace Lily - Welcome! It's always nice to have new people here...tell us a bit about yourself. When did you first hear Joe? What are some of your favorite songs/albums? What other music are you into?
Back to your post, I think the tapping section in the middle of Satch Boogie would make a good ringtone. Thinking about it some more, I might also go with the intro to Secret Prayer.
I was listening to an interview with Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater a few months ago...his phone went off in the middle of it, and his ringtone is their Pull Me Under.
Does anyone know what Joe's ringtone is? Hey Joe, perhaps? ;-)

BigB, I have different ringtones for different people. My husbands is Psycho Monkey - JS, daughter's is Straight Out Of Line - Godsmack, my sons in My Name Is Mud - Primus, me mums is Time - JS, pops is Jaws Of Life - Petrucci, sister & nephew is So Fucking What - Metallica, other sis is Water & Oil - Bob Marley, T-Bones is Conflict - Disturbed, JP is Tunnel Vision - Petrucci. The generic ringtone is some sort of latin party song or something. That's how I always know I don't know who the hell is ringing my phone. lol!

Although a Satch fan is supossed to use a Satch tune as ringtone, to tell you the truth, I've used the Stone's intro riff of "Can't you hear me knocking". Yeah, a kind of wink, perhaps.
Now I'm using a softer and more discreet tune, the piano intro of "Firth of Fiftth" by Genesis

How I first heard Joe's music is a little embarrassing. You see , theres this band and they had this song I kinda liked and so when I see this article saying that this band had taken this other artists song, I had to investigate. So I listen to If' I could Fly'. It took off from there. Honestly I don't know how I lived as long as I had with-out hearing more Satriani music (sorry Joe) But I am making up for lost time now. I really can't tell which song is my favorite. Depends on my mood but I have Flying In A Blue Dream- Crystal Planet-Super Colossal -Strange Beautiful Music- Is there love in space?-PSATMOR- And Chickenfoot to choose from. And I listen to Grooveshark and Pandora to some of his other work while trying to decide what I want to purchase next. I am thinking- Surfing With The Alien. The thing is Joe seems to love playing his guitar- does so awesomely and it just spills over into the music. I have not been to a live show yet but I will. I am working on that.

Hey Don- yes i surely did...and so will you..have a great time at your shows.
On ringtones...well once i heard a chopped bassless version of all the Chickenfoot songs..I opted out..yeah im a fan and the last thing i want is to hear such a low quality excerp..instead i went with spacy electronica..lol..this one ends with a chime that will wake your ass right out of bed!..or will tear through loud speakers playing Chicknfoot..lol

axeshredderjc - Are you a fan of Jack White at all? I also thought too much time was spent on him in the movie, but I wondered if that's maybe because I don't like him.
I was thinking though, who else would fit in the movie in his place? I'm not sure if there's a good choice. Page is 60s/70s, the Edge is 80s/90s (what IMGL mostly focused on, anyway)...who else could be 90s/00s?
Slash is maybe the biggest name, but as great as he is I wouldn't call him innovative like Page and the Edge. I know of a lot of innovative instrumental guitarists, but I don't think they'd fit in the movie.
Maybe Omar Rodriguez-Lopez from the Mars Volta?
scubadaz - Answers was the ringtone on my previous phone, for a while. It could only do polyphonic ringtones that were already in the phone or that were created with the phone...so I had to program it in there myself. I also programmed in guitar riffs from Rush's Kid Gloves and Porcupine Tree's Trains at different times.
Peace Lily - That's not embarrassing at all! It's good to hear that you took the time to actually listen to the music with an open mind. A lot of other "fans" (more like blind followers) of that band came here after the lawsuit hit the news and started throwing insults around...now THAT is embarrassing. But you're a new fan and that's cool.
I love If I Could Fly...and from the albums you mentioned, some other favorites of mine are The Bells Of Lal (Part II), Secret Prayer, Ten Words, The Traveler, and Out Of The Sunrise.
Surfing With The Alien is a good album to get next, but just be prepared that the production isn't as good as the newer albums...the drums sound dated. Don't let that stop you, though. The music is great.
slanshroom - Echo is my favorite from SWTA as well. I was so psyched to hear that song when Joe did the anniversary shows in 2007. Have you ever heard it in person?
