Tracie: Best wishes for your family. Hang in there!
So, the new DVD late January eh? I can't say that I'm the biggest fan of the format of the Revelation video, but I am still super excited about it. I really hope there will be a full CD to accompany this one. Did Joe mention anything about that, Austin?

Hi Joe! I just want you to know I've been a fan of yours since late 80s. Every new CD you release ends up being a series of guitar lessons for me! Thank you for doing what you do.

If I found myself in the San Francisco area sometime with my JS series guitar in hand, how difficult might it be to get you to sign it? :) :)

Keep on rockin!

Skippy, he's following all but 5 of us now. lol! He might have a tweetfest whilst I sleep? lol!

I'm so feckin' tired these days. Dunno what's going on? My body is shot 24/7 for the past 2 weeks. I need Michael Jackson's oxygen chamber since he isn't using it anymore. I'm just sayin'...

I'm bummed too. Some heavy stuff going on with a few of my friends parents - one in the hospital & one in hospice, and one of my distant relatives is not doing well. Poor little dude is still in diapers and has had so many serious health probs. He has Von Willebrands disease & was just diagnosed with Meckel's Diverticulum because of a very bad bleed. His surgery is tomorrow to stop the bleeding. I met him and his bigger brother, also in bad health, at our family reunion in July. Two of the most beautiful boys you ever saw, with the most brilliant light blue eyes... I would have never guessed they were so sick. They looked so perfect and healthy. Their mom didn't even know she was a carrier of VW's until she had the boys and they got sick. Now her health is also compromised, but she doesn't worry about herself - which is exactly what I would do too, though not the right thing to do.

Anyways, no need to comment. Just bummed is all. Think I'll go to bed early...

Last I heard, Tracie's family was waiting to talk to the surgeon to see about surgery for her dad. Don't think he ever did show up :-/

Tomorrow will be a better day.

As for Al, he's la-dee-da'ing around Europe again. Says beer is cheap in Budapest. Cheers to the lil' bastid!

ptrocker - that's funny you posted that about The Cult !
They were among my favorites growing up & today I thought to myself (not having seen your post) "I haven't listened to The Cult in a while..." So I brought out "Electric" and "Beyond Good and Evil"
... love that stuff*

Hi all This is the first time that I have posted a message. I have been a Joe fan for awhile now and know a few of you already from going to Joe and Chickenfoot concerts. My hubby Mahavishnu (Brian) introduced me to Joe's music and now I am totally hooked and don't go through the day without listening to Joe. I do not play the guitar or any other instrument so I can never comment on your musical conversations. I followed you all on here off and on but never took the time to post anything. You all are quite entertaining. Tracie I just want to say that I am praying for you and your family and especially your dad. Keep us posted.

Craig, thank you for the mail, that's so kind of you to think of us as you have even though we've never met. I appreciate all your good thoughts....and also those of everyone on the board, I can't even list you all but I've read every message and I thank you all very much.

Finally did get to meet with the surgeon, Dr. Orlando. He is an excellent surgeon, did the original surgery on my dad 2 years ago. He is also very straightforward with his information, which I appreciate. But it's still very hard to hear.

My father has pneumonia and his kidneys are only working at 50%. Those two things need to get better, and he needs to get stronger, before they attempt surgery to correct his other problem. His colostomy has herniated, the bowel has pushed through the muscle around the colostomy. He cannot live with this problem, so it must be repaired.

At this point, if his lungs and kidneys can get stronger, surgery is set for probably Thursday afternoon. His chances of surviving the surgery are slim. Dr. Orlando said it will be a miracle if he survives this. But he wants to give him every chance of making it, which is why we're waiting a few days. If he bottoms out before then, it will be emergency surgery with even less chance of survival.

I'm trying to figure out how to get Chris home without having to leave my dad.

I cannot imagine losing the first and best man I've ever loved, much less what it will be like for my mom. I'm praying for him to get stronger, and survive the surgery and be well again, for Dr. Orlando's hands to be swift, steady and healing. But most of all I'm praying for my dad to not suffer. He is a wonderful gentleman who deserves the best, the best in life, or the best in an easy end. We just need to be with him however this plays out.

Thanks peeps. Your support means everything.

Madeoftears-that's a lovely choice for a name. I just watched Joe's performance of 'Made Of Tears' (from the live 2006) So much feeling in that song, I always wonder what inspired it.

Today is a sad day....Hope tomorrow is better day for many.........

Tracie - I am very sorry to hear what your family is going through. Your feelings for your father are evident and I wish him the best.

I thought I would mention a book a friend of mine wrote (& I was one of many proof-reader's on) that might be helpful;

"Notes From The Waiting Room" by Bart Windrum

This is absolutely not a plug by the way. In fact, I'm positive you could find a used copy from a private seller on eBay, Amazon, ...

It is a fantastic book with outsanding advice & knowledge for such new decisions you might find yourself dealing with soon.

You seem like a genuine person from what I've read here at T2J and I only mention it because it might come in handy in your life right now.

If I've treaded on sketchy ground then please disregard the mention.

Take care of yourself because it sounds like you're the one that your family needs to be strong, sharp, & healthy right now, as well as of course your Dad & Mom.

Joe - Thank you for giving all of us such a wonderful soundtrack to accompany our lives!

I enjoyed chatting with you backstage in Berkeley. It was cool to hear excitement in your voice when you mentioned meeting & playing with Jeff Beck. That's how we feel when we get a chance to spend a few minutes with you.

Enjoy your well deserved rest.

And thanks again for the "Talk To Joe" section of satriani.com!

Prayers and good thoughts are headed your way, Tracie. Please keep us updated...

If it's OK to share, I do have some fun news for everyone: I'm glad I went to see Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam's show at the Mint in LA tonight. Peter Frampton, who produced their newest disc, was there and jammed with Davy on Keep On Searchin' and a cover of Neil Young's Cortez The Killer. I'll post pictures later.

I got a quick autograph from Davy...he was there with his girlfriend (assuming they aren't married; they're young) so I didn't have much time to chat, but I did ask how someone can get through the rest of the week when you start it off by jamming with Satch on Sunday and Frampton on Monday. He thought that was pretty funny... ;-)

EDIT - Here's one of my pictures: http://twitpic.com/jkvvb
