Just to do something totally different we saw Night Ranger and Journey last night. Neil Schon was great and the singer was fantastic. Back to the 80's. And the place really did reek of cheap perfume.

Hi Joe
I would like some advice and suggestions from you. I have been struggling with my music dreams and I feel like I'm getting no where.
I want a good education in music. This is impossible in the country I was born in. There are no music teaching systems or music programs or schools. I have left my country and I'm currently in Malaysia trying my best to start a degree in music. Even that seems to be a lot difficult since I don't have any music qualifications, which means I don't meet the entry requirements
I have played the guitar for 9 years, mostly self taught. I did take a few casual lessons from a local guitarist. Even with 9 years of playing, I have not done much. I have never performed, or learned any songs in full. I don't know much of theory and I don't know how to apply the little theory I know into practice.
I want to write and play my own music. Compose and arrange and perform. I want to be able to play neoclassical and progressive rock as well as pure classical and jazz and blues.
I'm sure you must have some helpful advice and insightful suggestions for me. I am 25 years old now and I am giving all my time and effort to find a good path to reach my goals.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks.

Someone on this forum knows how to choose great albums! I'm glad I followed the advice and got "Show me what you can do".....I didn't know this was copyrighted in 1998! Where have I been? Wait....don't answer that! I've been plodding along like a banana slug in the Cali coastal redwood forests! My faves are tracks 4, 7 and 8.
Does anyone know who the band Garbage is and where they are from. I heard their song "I'm only happy when it rains" and the lyrics to the song show the scariness of depression (the chronic illness that I deal with everyday)! I heard the song online at BBC radio Scotland--the Tom Morton show. Music reflects people's emotions alright......including the very scariest.
I'm in a better place as of yesterday and today. One song I love to listen to over and over is "Love Reign O'er Me" by the Who. Well written and performed, Pete Townshend! Quadrophenia is amazing!

Scooper Daz - My alternative nicknames may sometimes be slightly derogatory, possibly even facetious but NEVER intentionally offensive, only a bit of fun. My original nick wasn't Cappy, I only changed it to that because your chum Shroomboy kept calling me Cappy.

My best friend had a bridal shower for her daughter this morning. It was beautiful. My friends sisters were telling me that MA was in bad shape. They had a nurse at home with her so they could all be at the shower for an hour or two. The sis she lived with was pretty much a nervous wreck, and left early around 1:00 to get back home to her.
My friend just called me - her mom just passed on. I'm crying my eyes out.
R.I.P. MA!!

WHY DID YOU CHICKEN OUT IN THE FIGHT AGAINST COLDPLAY. If the song was so special as you claim and money wasnt the object why did you pull the case. What you did was gutless if what i hear is true. Your just as money hungry as the rest of them.It was a nice story how it took 10 years to write but you sell the rights to it in a flash. I think you owe your fans a explanation. They said you lack originality and in stead of fighting for what you believe in you cave in and quit. Sad day when you sell your soul...

faimie, shut the fuck up.
Peas Lily & Skippy, thanks! My friend called back at 10:00 to talk some more. So glad she did. Her mum is 76, a year older than my mum. We've been friends since we're 11 years old, so her mum has been my mum, and mine hers for 34 years. I've been hearing her voice and seeing her face all day. She was one of a kind man, one of a kind. I called my mum and gave her the news. She was sad to hear it. For the past 6 years when we would have our 4th of July picnics, both our mums would sit out on our deck and enjoy each others company - after all these years. Her health had been declining, but she'd be happy if you'd just plop her down in a chair and bring her coffee. lol! She'd enjoy listening to everyone's conversations and just being part of the crowd. The night always ended with awesome fireworks, and lots of kisses and hugs. I'm so glad we had that time together. Damn, we're gonna miss that ol' bird.
I know - guitar forum...I'll get back to that shortly. Thanks for the support peeps. Yer the best.

We're friends first...it's OK.
Has anyone heard an update from Tracie today? Maybe I'll call or text her tomorrow, if no one's heard anything.
