mowlie_2000: that's a good suggestion, the problem is (at least with my pod) I have to configure whether I'm playing directly to the table or connected to an amp, I can't use both. Since I consider more important the sound to the audience, I set it up to play in direct and use the phones output to have the monitoring sound connecting it to a Marshall 80W amp on my back, but I am aware the quality is all screwed up... I can't (or at least I don't know how to) set the line output to "direct" and the monitoring output (phones) to "amp"... :( The result is a really bad monitoring sound (I have to cut all the amp trebles, for instance, just to make it less horrible) I was convinced the sound that came out through the PA was ok though... After listening to my last concert recording, I was not that sure anymore...

Alan: I think you are right. The thing is these processors are so practical that for a minor loss in sound quality, I still prefer to use them. What I'm trying to understand is exactly how "minor" is this loss...

Thanks again for your help!

Play with POD XT Live and POD X3 Live everywhere and ProTools record with them. Live through 2x TECH21 Power Engine to reproduce the PODtones (direct/studio out) uncolored as I made them. And from the TECH21's XLR-out straight to PA. Never put simulating equipment through a regular guitar amp unless you go in through FX return to only use the power amp. The discussion between the "real" thing and simulated is old and the only I learn from it is that most musicians are scaringly conservative.
BTW: Joe uses Palmer speaker simulators... and TECH21 Sansamp sometimes, recording.

Another great recent release: Pearl Jam - "Backspacer"

I'll give you guys a break now, I've posted more today than over the last months... :)

I've run my POD through my JSX's clean channel and I've liked what came out of it, for the most part...

I look at it this way: If you have a bar gig, would you rather haul your big ass 100 lb. tube amp or take a laptop with you?

It's all good and unless you're Eric Johnson, you probably won't tell the difference...

The average Joe won't tell the difference and i use my pod all the time for that matter... but ater using it for so long, i can hear all the niggles that it just doesnt do... they're super ahndy and i recomend them but if u can record with a proper amp do it, lots better and easier

Just recorded a fucking sweet solo there... so glad i got it done, had it goin on for weeks

Wow...so many posts, and names..i cant keep track...but awesome conversation so heres my 2 cents

I own JSX and Pedals and love it... I am selling my Line6 flextone 3 xl amp....awesome tone and fx $450 I am selling my Line 6 Live XT floor pedal.$250

Though at one time i really liked the Line 6 tones, at higher volumes it all turns to crap. For recording it is excellent....especially rythym tracks but the solo punch need to be old school.

Did you know that Galen Uses this?

Windows 7 is probably another headache but ive had a perfect running Vista for about a year now ......i remember the same comment about Peavy Amps Alan....gotta give em a chance..ay?

I prefer Weed talk better than dick talk any day..lmao

Seems Joe's popularity has gone up a few levels that the old fans are coming back here ...and new ones too.......clearly makes it a job to keep track....welcome all...ancient but awesome content...most of the time

News Flash..Chad and the peppers are nominated to the hall of fame..if they make it , poor Joe will be the only non HOF members...and really..hes more deserving that the whole boat!

Thanks scubadaz for the tip, I may be new to the site but I've been jamming to Satch since the beginning and now my boy is picking up his axe and I couldn't be happier that he has been influenced by Joe. The best part is he thinks GH is for sissies! No offense to GH players! We do play ourselves! I just thought it sounded funny coming out of an 11 yr old.

Welcome to America (again?) Roo, see ya tomorrow night...we'll be the VERY innocent-looking mother and son who has NO INTEREST WHATSOEVER in yer boots, assorted goodies and whathaveyous :)))) LOL! Hope we get a chance to say hi!

Also to Austin and crew, they'll be easy to spot :) And any other t2j'ers that are going.

Wasn't sure we were going to go even with tickets and hotel reservations. My dad got really sick yesterday and...well...it wasn't good. But I spent all night with them last night so my mom could rest and I could watch over him, and he's a lot better today. It was a long night. And my brother will watch out for them while we're in Berkeley, otherwise we wouldn't be going. As it is, my attention is gonna be divided between the show...and wondering how things are going back at home. Quick trip down tomorrow, and back Saturday so I can see for myself that they are okay. Ran over the hill and back today after work to get Chrisper, I'd hate to disappoint him and not go, but his grandparents mean an awful lot to him so I know he'd be okay if we had to stay.

At this point....see y'all in Chicken-ERK....Chick-ley...Chicken-erkely...hopefully, tomorrow night!

Could someone take my eyeballs and sand them down fer meh? They'd feel a lot better than they do in my head, lol!!

HOPE TO SEE YA SOON JOE!! Love ya!!

Hello Joe, I have been listening to your music since 1986 .I live in south Texas and have always wanted to see you play live. I hope you come back to south Texas when you do your solo shows again.
