Muse: I have mixed feelings about them. Never really liked them until I heard "Live in Wembley". Then I thought I liked them. But the studio versions... :S One thing is for sure: the song "Invincible" has one of the best solos I've ever heard! And the song is great...

All: Need advice (again)... Anyone knows a good way to reduce feedback? I read about EVH's technique of dipping pickups in hot wax (and how he screwed the first few trying it). Anyone has done this? Is it something an amateur like me can do at home? Any alternatives?

Skippygirl - Where in the video? I don't recognize where the crowd shots are from...I assume the Seattle road test show, since I don't think that footage has shown up anywhere. Does anyone have a guess?

If you're talking about the main character guy, ha! If only... ;-) No, it's not me. I don't have any tattoos and I'm taller/less buff than that guy.

While I'm talking about me...does anyone have a decent photo of me that I could use as a recent mug shot? Maybe something taken at one of the recent Chickenfoot shows (no, roo, not the photo of me chowing down on In-N-Out...haha)...?

I've been going through some photos and I don't have anything recent that's good. It seems weird to me that most of my photos on Facebook are from 2006/2007.

Anyway...

Listening to: Yes - Awaken

I guess this song will be for michelle and the other people on the East Coast. I need to get some sleep, though...

...Austin...

ptrocker if your guitar is fairly modern, then your pickups are wax potted already . its pretty common.. have you thought of a noise gate?

Death: I play Strat, but the pickup in question is a Dimarzzio Fred (more or less 15/20 years old) Do you know if it is hot-waxed already?

With the single coil guitar it's even worse, but I'd be glad just fixing the humbucker.

$750 for a meet and greet package!! Come on, the marketing people don't have any respect for the fans that are paying their meal ticket.

$750 to meet people that can play and sing, that's voluntary robbery, it's not worth the risk of having a cranky, hungover, or just an individual that is not in the mood to provide 100% for a service that has been paid for.

Even if I could afford it I don't think that I would pay it. Much like everything in the retail market, if we the customer buckle down and choose not to pay these outrageous prices, corporate marketing will get the hint and charge a reasonable price for an intangible service that is only a fleeting moments memory.

$750 for what ? A whole day of waiting for 30 minutes worth of chat or so, an overpriced t-shirt, some photo, plus the additional cost of tickets to get in. Why not throw in a full day's hang-out for that price. Give me a substantial memory and a day with meat not just dessert.

These overpriced "packages" that offer gold but really are an empty bucket of gold. Have ticked me off for this early moment. I'm sure once I'm offline I'll wipe my butt and move on but I had to dump it first.

Slansh... (I feel stupid for asking this...) Please translate into a "dummier" english... I understand you're talking about Strats (my guitar) and Dimarzzio/Seymour (the pickups I use). There's even a Marshall somewhere (the amp I use) I don't understand the rest... :S

Lots of time it's hard for me to understand you guys (english speakers), specially abreviations and slang... Anyone interested in switching to Portuguese???

Slansh, thanks for the translation :) Actually, there is such box (not commercially) The Portuguese Fender representative has one of those. You can fit a number of different pickups in there and just try them. I think that's what you were saying...

Mikesb, if you stop playing completely you'll never have any more problems... :o)

thats why i plan a tour playing acoustic & electric the same ie straight t DI with no fuss, its by far the best plan so long as yer guitars are earth,d well & no 60 cycle single coil shit gets t the sound eng!

actually playing acoustic with a kit has not been resolved,,,an ongoing prob, bass drum send it into hyperspace every time not t mention piezo pickups & acoustic humbuckers honkin big time

Yes, the SLT vid crowd shots are from the Seattle road test show. I will never forget that stupid pole in the middle of the stage at the El Corazon, and you can see Joe's JSX's behind him, too.

The shots of the crowd are a little too quick for me to identify anyone, and the black and white doesn't help.. That is the only show I've ever been to that I actually needed to wear earplugs. Well, should have is more like it. By the time Highway Star came around I thought they had started blowing out the PA system, I could barely hear Sammy sing! That place was LOUD!!

For $750.00 I should get a weekend with the band so they can clean my house, mow my lawn, wash my car, and change the batteries in all my smoke detectors. Oh, that should also include the show ticket and a t-shirt ;-)

I think a neck rub should also be part o' the packish chelle :)

Cap'n, my dad is coming along...doing therapy every day, not sleeping much at night, wants to go home but is being stoic about the whole situation....except when it's just the two of us and then he cries. Breaks my heart. He worries about my mom/his wife....and lately he's been talking about his realization that his time left is short....I hafta try so hard not to cry when he talks about it, because I know he NEEDS to talk about it and he needs support, not tears from me. I also have to be realistic and not try to say to him, "naaaaaah dad, lets not talk about it cuz it ain't gonna happen"....that would shut him down when what he needs is to deal with it. So we talk, I hold it in till later...and tell him that whatever time we all have left together, lets make it a DAMN fine time. I want to deny that eventual happening with every fiber of my being....but....I also want to help him with this part of his life, to deal with it, make peace with it, and have him know how much he's loved and that his life has been well-spent.

He did say that as he's thought about things, he doesn't think there's much of anything he would change. I guess that's something, eh? :)

Promoter's AND the artists should realize a lot of their biggest fans are NOT financially that well off. Come on guys, give us a fecking break fer cryin' out loud!!!!

My two cents worth!

It does seem some people have more money than the average person on T2J, if those packages are already sold out . This is the first thing connected to Chickenfoot that really" pisses" me off. That catering to the elite type o crap is anti-rocknroll, far as I am concerned. Still a 'FOOT fan but wondering WTF ?

Cheese- thanks for the up-date, I know you were talking to Cappy but I really admire the way you handle life, and the trials that come with it......Glad your dad is doing better.

Needless to say, she left disappointed....

Monterrey Trace - I'll comment on the last bit of your post first, "Something"?, well my two bits says that is everything! Now then, i'm not one for stroking someone just for the sake of it but IMHO you are not just a good mom you are a special daughter. Kudos to you for letting him talk to you about what he needs to even when you find it painful, you know of course that he doesn't want to talk about such things with your mom to minimise the pain he knows she is experiencing. I hope Chris is managing to deal with things as well. Peace.

Conch - How's ole Viv doing? Hopefully better.

Slanshroom-That album is AWESOME.I love Vinnie Colaiuta's drumming on the original.

As far as counting, once the drums come in it's pretty much just 4/4 for the most part, but Oz is adding so much syncopation that it sounds like odd time.
