yep, 12 dead and 31 wounded

updated link

That's effed up!

Texas senator Kay ? is saying that one of the shooters was going to be shipped back to the war (3rd tour?), and he flipped out. It's really not gonna help matters than his name is Islamic. People will freak on that alone. Soldiers are from every background, but due to the hype, we all gasp. Send me back to war for the third time, I'd prolly start friggin shootin' somebody too.

End the fucking war already!!!

So sad.

War is good for nothing.

It's time to head up to LA for the Jimmy Kimmel taping.

Look for me (and cosmic_ape) on TV tonight, if you want. We'll be in the regular studio audience, which I think is different from the crowd that'll be in front of the band as they perform. I don't watch the show, so I'm not sure how it works.

I've heard they'll do two songs...any guesses on what they'll play? I'm expecting Oh Yeah and Soap On A Rope, but I'd love to be surprised and get a pair like Sexy Little Thing and My Kinda Girl instead.

Some of those Army guys are a little off in the head. They get messed up on their first or second combat tour and the Army keeps sending them back because they are stretched thin. I've been there twice and both times I met people that I knew early on it was best I stay away from them; people that shouldn't have been allowed to carry a gun. And it wasn't even their fault really. It's not like you can say "eh, I think I'm fucked in the head, I better sit this one out", you gotta get a doctor to say that. Unfortunately in the end it is usually the people who are undeserving that are diagnosed with a mental disorder and given a generous medical retirement for one reason or another, usually because they are tired of the deployments, and the guy that's really messed up has a real condition that goes unnoticed because the doctors are too busy with the fakers, and shit like this happens. I just finished reading the article, the irony of this is that the shooter was actually a psychiatrist at the base. Hell, it may have had nothing to do with the deployment, maybe he had a dick for a boss or something. Nothing makes it OK, though. This happens at U.S. bases in Iraq and Afghanistan too, just doesn't make big news over here. Sadly, this will change nothing.

Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now...

I do believe I read on the CF website that they will be playing "Oh Yeah" and "Sexy Little Thing" on Kimmel. Although the show is taping tonight, it will air tomorrow night!

And, since the folks at Best Buy are being douchey with my white album pre-order, which just shipped today, I made the 115 mile round trip to Best Buy and picked it up myself. No way in hell I was gonna wait until the middle of next week for the other one to get here. I'm gonna go watch it with dinner! HaHa, I'm having a chicken breast!!

turboIan, I agree 100% with yer soapbox rant. Sorry you had to see it first hand. Did I mention I hate war?

115 miles - you go boy!! lol!

Don1852, hope yer feeling better soon.

Anyways, I just got off the phone with me mum. She's going down hill again. They just put her on an antibiotic (again) for 10 days because they think she might be starting to get pneumonia. She's also filling up with fluids in her legs and feet and has gained a few pounds from it. That's soo not good. She's sick from taking one of her antibiotics on an empty stomach - her plea - "I had jello". *sigh* I'm tellin' ya, raising yer parents is the hardest thing. Anyways, very frustrating convo, so I'ma go have a nice cocktail and see if I can get my shoulders to come down a few notches. Right now, the tension has them feeling like they're up around my ears.

Happy place, happy place, where for art thou happy place?

From my phone...

Chickenfoot played Sexy Little Thing, Oh Yeah. and Turnin' Left. Before they started, they jammed on SLT and Give It Away (RHCP).

Joe threw me a pick and Chad jumped into the crowd at the end.

More from me later...

What are everyone's thoughts on the DVD? Did anyone notice that Joe's solo parts on Down The Drain were sped up? Hopefully it wasn't a glitch with my player, but given the timing of the speed changes I think it was made that way. That was pretty annoying to me and honestly I turned it off at that point.
Aside from that, I feel taken advantage of for paying $9.99 for what is basically the 12 days of the foot with some "behind the scenes" and "bonus" footage that I have already seen; most of it on the CF website! And I haven't checked, but I would be willing to bet that the Montreux Jazz Fest. vids are available on Youtube. There are live clips of some of the other songs that I hadn't heard before, but that's all they were... clips.

It wasn't all bad... there was SOME new footage, but overall I am disappointed. I've gotta side with the folks that say re-releasing a 5 month old album is not good for business, and it's kind of a slap in the face to all of us who bought the vinyl in June just to have the bonus track.
After what I watched of this, I really hope that Chime Interactive has nothing to do with the forthcoming Chickenfoot or Joe Satriani DVD's. Definitely not impressed with their contribution to the project, had to turn away a couple times to avoid a seizure.

Anyway, that's my two cents in case anyone give a rats a$&!! Once again, I need to get off of my soapbox, it's really getting a workout today..

Ian

So...I could've sworn the pick I got came from Joe, but I just looked at it and it's one of MIkey's. It hit me in the neck the way Joe's have in the past, so I assumed...haha. Does anyone have a Chickenfoot pick from Joe from this tour? Is it "heavy" like his usually are? This one wasn't that thick, but I wonder if he was maybe using one of Mikey's. Anyway, that's a minor thing...

The Chickenfoot performance was filmed tonight, but it won't actually air until Friday night's show. They filmed a lot of things out of order...we saw a few interviews that won't air until Friday, a musical performance that won't air until closer to Christmas, and then all of the show that aired tonight except for the band (which was filmed previously). As a result, there weren't many opportunities for us fans to cheer in response to the "...and coming up next, Chickenfoot!" bumpers...but oh well.

In closing I'll say that I don't think Jimmy Kimmel is funny at all. He's OK on some of the Comedy Central stuff he's done in the past, but I don't think his style comes across well on a major network. He had some video skits that were just painful to sit through...argh.

How do these people survive

ONE

Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets. I asked for a half dozen nuggets.
'We don't have half dozen nuggets,' said the teenager at the counter.
'You don't?' I replied.
'We only have six, nine, or twelve,' was the reply.
'So I can't order a half dozen nuggets, but I can order six?'
'That's right.'
So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets
(Unbelievable but sadly true...)

TWO

I was checking out at the local Woolworths with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those 'dividers' that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed.
After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the 'divider', looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it.
Not finding the bar code, she said to me, 'Do you know how much this is?'
I said to her 'I've changed my mind; I don't think I'll buy that today.'
She said 'OK,' and I paid her for the things and left.
She had no clue to what had just happened.

THREE

A woman at work was seen putting a credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly.
When I inquired as to what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the Internet and they kept asking for a credit card number, so she was using the ATM 'thingy.'
(keep shuddering!!)

FOUR

I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car. 'Do you need some help?' I asked.
She replied, 'I knew I should have replaced the battery to this remote door unlocker. Now I can't get into my car. Do you think they (pointing to a distant convenience store) would have a battery to fit this?'
'Hmmm, I don't know. Do you have an alarm, too?' I asked.
'No, just this remote thingy,' she answered, handing it and the car keys to me. As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, 'Why don't you drive over there and check about the batteries. It's a long walk....'
PLEASE just lay down before you hurt yourself !!!

FIVE

Several years ago, we had an Intern who was none too swift. One day she was typing and turned to a secretary and said, 'I'm almost out of typing paper. What do I do?' 'Just use paper from the photocopier', the secretary told her. With that, the intern took her last remaining blank piece of paper, put it on the photocopier and proceeded to make five 'blank' copies.
Brunette, by the way!!

SIX

A mother calls 000 very worried asking the dispatcher if she needs to take her kid to the emergency room, the kid had eaten ants. The dispatcher tells her to give the kid some Benadryl and he should be fine, the mother says, 'I just gave him some ant killer....'
Dispatcher: 'Rush him in to emergency!'

Life is tough. It's even tougher if you're stupid!!!!
