do unto others as theyll do unto you...
what goes around comes around....
some can dish it out but they sure cant take it.....
lmao..those are my quotes of the day..lol..woohoo
i like fx in videos..i cant understand the deal about it...maybe its a getting old thing, who knows....but i love the effort that was made to make this dvd stand out from the rest...if you want to just see joe play, youhave to buy a ticket to the show...but videos and dvd are being made to give you more that just a proffesionally made youtube video....MTV ruined the idea of music video...yeah the same one they created...its now up to creative producers to enhance the plain video with a little personality and creativity...thats what moves us forward..blah blah blah

Michelle: Yep, I'll have three copies on my shelf as soon as the two I pre-ordered get here. Guess I went a little overboard. I was also under the impression that it was going to be a straightforward live concert, but I guess I missed something!
bluebuffalo: I see where you're coming from on the DVD, but no matter how hard I try, I just can't see a purpose to anything that was added to the original film. To me, Joe's performance alone has all the energy and emotion that a film could possibly need. That's why I look so forward to release date... to sit in front of my TV and watch Joe tear it up through 22 songs, to see and feel the energy and emotion from his performance. Anything added to that IMO distracts me from taking away from the film what I thought it was intended for.
Seriously, cutting away to the music video during a song?? I was excited to watch 'Cryin'' but couldn't see through all the spinning gears and what not. And there were spots I noticed Joe was magically playing with a different guitar for a few seconds and then back to another.. I'm sure that was intended, but c'mon...
Maybe I just get too deep into a live DVD; but I think if you wanna fool around with lights and colors, you should make an actual music video for that song and express that kind of emotion there, not over top of a live performance that people want to SEE. I realize that every other DVD Joe has released is in the traditional live concert format, and I could just watch one of those, but it was THIS concert that I was looking so forward to seeing in the same format. Seeing Joe play Time Machine, Cryin', and all the PSATMOR tracks which absolutely ROCK!!
I wonder about that bit Joe mentioned about the Director paying to use this once, and then he can do whatever he wants with the material. Any chance there will be a limited edition 'normal' release or should I just piss in the other hand and see which one fills up first?
I'll say it again, though; I'm glad the audio turned out so damn well. Might need a set of hearing aids by the time this one comes off constant rotation!!

Hi everyone... I'm in the middle of a LONG day today. It'll hopefully end with a really cool music-related something, but I'll keep quiet about that until it happens.
I was at Best Buy earlier today and held the Paris CD and DVD in my hands...I wish the mail would hurry up! ;-)
And michelle, yes, that's the infamous pole at Slim's.

I once saw the Grateful Dead with a full on light show behind them. Unbeknown to my parents of course. Yep I'm that old. The video effects don't bother me. I've only seen the video Peace Lily posted though. Thanks for posting it.

Some of the special effects included oil on a glass plate and then paint smeared around in it and projected on a screen. Then they dropped a bunch of feathers on us. The 60's man. Ha Ha. I was there and I do remember it.

hey Blue_Moon Quote:I almost want the dvd more for the epileptic seizure effects
looking forward to them, be sure to watch it high or drunk
first post here for me, I have epileptic seizures and on a funny note I have had them at concerts when the bands use the flashing strobelights. been to hundreds of concerts but seems the latest fad is to have the real bright strobe light. Chickenfoot used them this past year. when they start using them I have to close my eyes. kinda sucks.my episodes are not grand mall just petite mall. I just space out and lose a little bit of time in life.
I'm expecting the dvd in mail, I guess I'll have to watch it with the lights on, not in a dark room.

McDave - I only went to that one. It was "Anthem of the Sun" era. I didn't think they were any good just a lot of long loud jams. Some of their later stuff was better, when it got a little folksy.
