I saw Slash at the Roxy last night, as michelle kinda hinted at a few posts ago. It was a "secret" midnight show only announced through email and Twitter...I saw a heads-up on the gig from her before I heard about it elsewhere, so I was able to score a ticket early. Woohoo!
I got there at 10:30 p.m. and there were a few dozen people in line in front of me. Doors opened at 12:15 a.m., the band started at about 12:45 and they played until 2:10. I found the setlist online, to save me some thinking (haha)...here it is:
Dirty Little Thing (VR)
Mean Bone (SS)
Nightrain (GNR)
Back from Cali (Solo)
Beggars and Hangers On (SS)
Civil War (GNR)
Sucker Train Blues (VR)
Nothing To Say (Solo)
Starlight (Solo)
Solo (with Godfather theme)
Sweet Child O' Mine (GNR)
By The Sword (with Andrew Stockdale) (Solo)
Woman (with Andrew Stockdale) (Wolfmother cover)
Rise Again (Alter Bridge cover)
Slither (VR)
-----
Paradise City (GNR)
It was GREAT to hear some of those classic Guns N Roses songs. The band was so casual about them too (Slash, before Nightrain, was something like: "Hi...I haven't played this one in several years. It's an old Guns N Roses song."). Civil War was a nice surprise...Myles Kennedy let the crowd sing a lot of that one, which was cool.
I liked the Solo -> Godfather Theme -> Sweet Child O' Mine run, just like the classic GNR days. Slash's mind was kind of blown after that one, when he said he hadn't played that song at the Roxy since about 1986.
Anyway, onto other parts of the show... I really liked hearing the Slash's Snakepit songs; I like that older project quite a bit. And it was neat to see a few Velvet Revolver songs still...it's good of Slash to keep playing that stuff. The songs from the new solo album were great as well; again, everyone needs to go buy it if you haven't already.
That's all for now. I took a few dozen pictures on my cell phone, which I'll share later. Here's one to start:

A separate post, to help with michelle's list:
Stu Hamm - Charlotte (Charlotte's Song)
Dave Matthews - twins Stella and Grace
Neil Peart - Olivia
Mike Portnoy - also a son, Max
Steven Tyler - daughters Mia (Mia) and Chelsea, and son Taj
And because I'm an Aerosmith nerd, here's a (probably) incomplete list for some of the other band members:
Joe Perry - Aaron (step son), Adrian
Brad Whitford - Graham
Joey Kramer - Jesse, Asia (step daughter)
...Austin...

do the stu; thanx for the review on Slash! the other day our local radio station, WAAF 107.3 in boston had Slash take over the radio station for a while, him and Duff had a blast playing what they liked.
a little note to mr. Jon Luini; dude you must be a busy guy. my wife, one of the biggest Redheads on the planet, just did a little detective work on an imposter who was pretending to be mr Sammy Hagar on Facebook! while using her super slueth detective skills she discovered that you are also running Sammy's Facebook page, which hasn't even been ofiicially announced yet! mind you it took her 11 days to find it. but she does have the recent flooding and the fact that she's been sick for a good excuse. so lets see, that's this site, Joe's facebook, Chickenfoot site and Facebook, and Sammy's Facebook. the mrs. has deduced that you are probably the mastermind behind the soon to be new and improved RedRocker.com. elementary my dear Watson !lmao

I have never been a Cowboys fan. DA BEARS!!
But my dad has been a Cowboys fan from the moment he began watching football. So I don't exaggerate (sp?) when I say that I spent all my fall and winter Sundays watching them play.
I saw the videos of the demolition today and I was surprised to find myself holding back tears. Can't imagine what I'll do the day I watch the Bears win a game at Soldier Field :)

How cute is this, Chad Smith has recorded a childrens' CD called Rhythm Train with Dick van Dyk check Chad out and Dick has some sweet rapping skills there - there's a song called Cherry Pants about dancing in one's cherry pants and a song called My Guitar Named Joe - wonder if our beloved Satch was the inspiration for that one?

Zinc...
The weekend was so nice we ended up going to the coast and doing a long walk the upshot of that being that we only watched half of the dvd at the weekend.
As suggested earlier it was a kind of proffesionally done home tape from the New York gig, there were a very few points where peoples heads got in the way and a couple of small fuzzy "trying to find the guitarist coz you cant see through the small screen" bits, but it was 98% perfect.
So only watched Paul and John so far who were amazing although I am sure John hit a few bum notes LOL ...still got Joe and the jam to go!
Cant wait for that...maybe tonight.
Hugs Satriella xx

The nasty Westboro Baptist Church idiots were supposed to protest at my daughters college today. GRRRR! They never showed up, and the reason why they didn't show up...?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The church had planned to picket the screening of "The Anatomy of Hate" from 7 to 8 a.m. this morning.
The film, shown Sunday, is about hate and hate groups and features Westboro. The screening was part of a five-day "Silencing the Hate" program of lectures, forums and other events sponsored by student campus groups.
"After today's screening, you will know that God hates people and sends people to hell," the church said on its Web site last week.
Shirley Phelps-Roper, the eldest daughter of Westboro Pastor Fred Phelps, said in an e-mail this morning that the church canceled its visit to Lancaster County because it had redirected its effort to celebrating the deaths of 29 coal miners outside Catholic churches in Wheeling, W. Va.
"The destruction of this nation is IMMINENT!! Therefore, this little flock of slaughter is running to and fro – when God reached down from heaven in response to the brute beasts in WV who were breathing out threatening and slaughter against this little church, and SMACKED that mine sending 29 straight to hell, it required that we redirect our efforts for my team," she wrote. "... We decided that the rebels would have to hold that picket without us!" she wrote. "
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ohhhh, I can't wait for their karma to come back around!
