Rhythmsteady / other LA-area T2Jers - FYI... Just like with the Chickenfoot signing last year, we will need a wristband to attend the autograph signing at Best Buy on Thursday. You'll get a wristband when you buy the CD at the West LA Best Buy (near the 405 and 10 freeways) starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow. There shouldn't be a million people there before doors open, but I don't think the wristbands will last until Thursday...so stop by on Tuesday if you can.
Also, I don't see any mention of it on the site here, but for the SF people... I know Borders signings typically require a wristband as well, so maybe call that store and ask about Sunday's signing.

Yep MP3 sucks.
This new -real- audio CD is breathtaking.
And no track skipping on this album.
Musicradar: Joe Satriani answers your questions
"Now that Joe Satriani's new album, Black Swans And Wormhole Wizards, has been released, the world is finally getting a chance to hear what very well could be the guitar icon's finest work yet."

Yep, that one was mine:
Alewis525 says, your mom passed away late last year, which no doubt influenced the writing on your new album. But instead of focusing on the loss, could you share some happy musical memories of your mother?
"Oh yeah. She was a piano player, so ever since we were kids, we would sit next to her at the piano and watch her play. She would teach us things. She taught me my first boogie-woogie, showing me the left-handed piano lines. We had a lot of fun like that. I have such great musical memories of her.
"She really loved music and dancing. The whole family danced to music. You know, she grew up during the Jazz Age, with bobby-soxers and all that. But she also loved soul music, so everybody felt free to dance around and just enjoy music as a family."
I had another part of my question that was cut (I asked what her favorite Joe song/album/tour was)...I'll have to ask another time. I know that's an odd question, but wouldn't it be cool to find out that she really loved a deeper cut like New Day or Killer Bee Bop?
I wish Tracie's question (about Joe's song on Tarja's album) would have been answered. I think she's asked that in different places two or three times by now...but I don't think we've ever seen an answer that's much more than "she asked me and I did it," have we?

To comment on other parts of the interview, again, it's great to hear Joe acknowledge the fact that there's so much stuff he's never played live before. And if he'll be adding more new songs over the course of the tour, maybe that means what we hear in Napa will be different from what Joe ultimately ends up playing on the west coast in January.
It's also cool to hear Joe actually answer the "What if...?" question about no Chad in Chickenfoot. So many other artists get asked those type of questions and they always blow them off. We all know who Jason Bonham is, but the other guy might not be familiar to people here. Abe Laboriel Jr. is currently the drummer in Paul McCartney's band, and he's AWESOME. He played at the Bonzo tribute I went to last week...here are a few vids:

That last one was shot from the balcony...bonus points of you can find me up front by the stage. ;-)

So I go to the local Best Buy today and asked if they'd hold a copy of the new album. Then I get told they won't have any copies instore, and also can't order any due to their warehouses also not having any copies available, have no plans to order from any other warehouses, but I can order it online.
Well gee, thanks. For a store that's going to have an exclusive edition with extra tracks they don't seem to be doing anything in terms of promoting it.

Well, I have had the new CD since Friday. I must say, I REALLY like it a lot. I have had 5 full listens so far.
I know there was a post not long ago about there being nothing ground breaking here. I don't know if I would call it ground breaking, but this is really different from anything I can think of. The more I listen to this album, the more I get the feeling there is a certain heaviness all over this CD.
God is Crying and Pyrrhic Victoria are my 2 early favorites. The Golden Room is very cool, so is Two Sides to Every Story. Littleworth Lane is masterfully done.
I see God is Crying as being an absolute ass kicker of a live song. There is great use of keyboards all throughout the CD. Hopefully this coming weekend I will have time to put on my best headphones and really dig in.
Joe, thank you so much for taking the extra time to sign the cd, mine as well as everyone elses. I love it that you signed an extra copy of the booklet. Allows one for framing and one to stay with the cd.
I have to ask, how difficult was it to switch gears like this? Going from the kind of rock you had been playing with Chickenfoot for the past year, to the new cd?

Mahavishnu- Thanks for the link.
All this hype about BSAWW and I just ordered a copy of ITLIS?- from Japan! I feel bad for all you people overseas that have to order music from here... I paid more in just shipping costs than I did for the U.S. version of the same album. ]
Hopefully I make it back from Oregon before the CD arrives since it will require a signature. I'd hate for them to send it all the way back over there! Should also have Paul Gilbert's newst album, some Kenny Wayne Shepherd, an autographed copy of PSATMOR I found, and an extra Deluxe Edition of PSATMOR, since I only bought one when it was released. Not to mention my autographed copies of BSAWW, but Best Buy will be my first destination as soon as I roll out of bed in the morning. Hoping the bonus tracks are as awesome as the first 11. I think God is Crying is my new favorite...
Ian
