Me and a mate of mine were heading down the coast. And we stopped at KFC.

He's a fairly strict vegan, but got some fries.

Anyway, I'm chowing down on everything and a said "do you want some of my potato and gravy with your chips?

He said naaah, it contains animal stuff. And picks up the container to read the label..

A few seconds later he shouts "woohoo" it's all chemicals! And starts dipping his fries in and eating them.

Never seen anyone so happy that they could eat the food cause it was completely artificial... Lol!

Don't know if they changed the formula... Errr... Recipe since then, but he enjoyed potato and gravy for a number of years since then.

He was always such a nice, well mannered, thin guitarist... But tall and mainly into metallica.

This hasn't gotten much press yet, but TV writer David Lloyd died today.

I know him mostly from Cheers and Frasier, but he also did a lot of work for Taxi, the Mary Tyler Moore show, and the Tonight Show.

And in other television news today, Dollhouse was cancelled. Argh...

Awww Joe, hope u feel better very soon... I don't like it one little bit when yer sick!!

Wonder if it's hard to be vegan when you've been an omnivore for so long....I do love my fruits, and most veggies and always thought if I ended up on a tropical island I could still be happy if there was fruit there, LOL.....but I wonder if a person misses meat and dairy......OMG I could NEVER give up coffee!!!

How does 6 shots of espresso fit into the vegan lifestyle....can u use cream at ALL? Cuz if not....GEEEEEEZ! Coffee THAT strong and THAT black would put hairs on my chest!! LOL!

hairy chickenbreastage *shiver*

btw if it has a face, its not on my plate.Eating animal meat is unnecessary, its not meant for human consumption, the human body cant properly digest it, any decent qualified doc will tell you that

Tofu is as good protein replacement, shaolin monks favor this over meat Tofu recipes

or Nut protein & i,m not talkin from yer sack lads b4 y start lol

just b4 the goody goody police come along and decide to adopt me into their veggy fam, have a think on this "meat is responsible for 50% of greenhouse gas emissions but soy production is a leading cause of deforestation, responsible for a quarter of GHG emissions"

Joe: Don't hesitate to get to a doctor under these conditions.. Vegan one month in and feelin' ''kinda strange''; could be a vitamin deficiency, anemia, thyroid problem, etc.. These can be very serious, but can be ruled out with simple tests and fixed almost as easily.

You said earlier you weren't feeling well and didn't sound too confident that you actually had the flu. Some of the problems associated with an inadequate or poorly planned vegan diet can present much like the seasonal flu!

I don't know what your diet has been like, but from this end I'd have to say it's time for you to go see the doc, Joe! Better safe than sorry....

Ian - Sorry if my post was a bit strong (i'd been having a good ole conversation with Mr Beer) but i'm really fed up with all the killing going on in the world, especially that in the middle east and asia. The thought of killing animals (who can't shoot back) for fun repulses me. Like I said before though, I have no beef (pun intended) with killing animals for food. Then again, who am I to pontificate.

Anybody watch Oprah yesterday. Holy f**king shit! A 250 lb chimp ripped off a woman's face and her hands back in Feb. - and she lived. Her face before the tragedy was so lovely, but now...the only thing I can think of that she resembles is a teenage mutant ninja turtle - but worse - and I don't me that to be funny. It's horrific, and very hard to look at - but she's alive and trying to be strong. She was a single mom. Her daughter is getting ready for college. God bless them both. Their life has been changed drastically forever. Just seeing it kinda effed me up a bit...

Such a shame.

I'm all for hunting to put food on the table. Which is a very real thing up in this neck of the woods. I don't know too many thrill-killers...just regular folk who need to feed their families.

couple of good ones there Zinc.

my stepdad and brother used to hunt every season. i went once when i was about 12. saw 4 bucks run by me about 4 to 5 feet away doing about 25 mph up the side of a mountain. thats about as close as i ever got to hunting. have seen alot of hunters that do it for the jollies. most of them hunted with trucks and snowmobiles at night with bright lights. shitheads in my opinion. my brother still hunts but gave up his guns for bow & arrow. i think he's a nut because he hunts black bear with a bow. i still love my meat on the grill and can't imagine going vegan. i do have to say though that in nature, just about everything eats some other form of life to live. so what constitutes "life" plants grow from seeds so are they "born" do they "live". i've read science articles suggesting plants and trees can communicate with each other via chemical reactions. are they alive? if so then even vegans are consuming a living entity. just "food for thought"

okguitar; exactly what is it you are doing?

slans: they are now saying that soy protien is not as good as they first thought, especially for women. they blame the increased use of soy as a reason for the increasing onset of early puberty in girls in developed countries. something to do with the way it reacts with estrogen.

cappy: i say to the ones who do it for fun, too bad the animals can't shoot back! ha!

is this wierd? i couldn't really hurt any animal for any reason, but would have no problem putting some of the human a-holes on this planet out of our misery!

i agree with you Roy, there is no perfect Diet, and diet with out exercise is useless, with out cardio and resistance training you can get yourself in a world of hurt , there is no quick fix like surgury or pills only diet and excercise . that being said i do at least 30 minutes of cardio 6 days a week and 3 days a week of weight training , also limit my calorie intake to about 1800 calories a day and i have lost 75 pounds since jan1/09 i still have a ways to go ..but i feel better , and happier , and more focused , you you become obese its hard not being depressed.. now if i mention weiders and frank i am almost like wolf ..

cube, big congrats on how far you've come already, that's fantastic!! Just don't disappear, lol!! And I know that what you're saying is right but somehow my butt isn't too motivated to do the workout part....skipping food, no problem as long as I have my coffee, lol! But yeah...yer doing it the healthy way and should be proud!

Slan, what? You don't like chest hairs on us wimmens?? What about just going "natural" and having leg and pit hairs? LOL!! You don't mind that we occasionally hafta have balls, do ya? Us girlies can be tough mofo's when we need to :)

And thanks for the email, I know Chris already emailed you back...I'm trying to get the video stuff on a dvd for him to make it easy to access, and he's LOOOOOVING the massive amount of new stuff to read and absorb. Yer a doll, I'll tell anyone that! Hugs :)

McDave, HA!! If I wuz by myself on that island, I could dig a hole anywhere I wanted and it would suffice, LOL!! As long as there's a coffee pot and coffee to go with that fruit, I'm good :)

Well peeps I have to say I am a product of my upbringing , I grew up on a ranch. The ranch produced beef, lamb and some pork for market. We worked very hard as children and were taught that those animals were dependent on us for their care. and their care came first.

My dad had a way with those animals, fed them, doctored them, talked to them and named just about every one of them. But the fact that many went to market was just a fact of life for him. It was his livelihood and he worked his ass off until he could work no longer .

So when we (those of us who do) eat our juicy steak just remember some one had to do the" dirty work". It does not mean they relished it.

On Hunting .......most my friends and family bow hunt now , its more challenging for them. I don't hunt and I don't like knowing my critters before I eat them. But I do eat meat,so somebody takes care of that nasty business for me.

On a happier note last night was Honor Band Concert. In just two days those young people were brought to a level of playing that most of them had never achieved before . I sat there rapt as the music was played. It was very cool.

MIchelle- How very brave of her to tell her story on TV. What a awful random thing to have happen. I don't believe I would be that strong.

JOE ...Listen to your T2Jer's and get yourself to the DR. or we will all keep worrying 'bout ya
