Oxley11: I totally agree with you reg. ITLIS. Been listening intensely to that album this past week and it is for sure a very emotionally charged album. Joeīs solos on this album stand out to me as being the most articulate ones heīs done. Just listen to the title track, If I could fly, Souls of distortion, Just look up and my favourite Joe song of all time Bamboo!! His solos on these songs are so very extremely articulate that I have to remind myself not to stop breathing.
After having listened to the entire album I feel like I have been grabbed by the core of my soul (donīt know if you understand what I mean, itīs really hard to describe...??!!) - maybe itīs the same kind of feeling you get when driving on a cloudy day with ITLIS playing in the car.
I read somewhere that Joe said this album really was a turning point for him creatively - the album from which the following albums sprang out. I donīt think he surpasses the songs from ITLIS from the setlists on purpose, he doesnīt play a lot from EOC, SBM either. It just seems like he thinks the audiences expect him to build the setlists around a lot of the old hits.
I wish for sure he would put Flying, Surfing, Cool 9, Ice 9 aso. on the shelve for a while and let us hear some of the other brilliant material live, - maybe we should just ask him to change the setlists a bit??!!
Anyway, I have often thought about which Joe-album really is my favourite one and I have never been able to pick just one, because they all have something really beautiful to offer. But if I was to be put on an deserted island and could only bring one CD with me, ITLIS would probably be the one.
Best to all from Denmark - Lea

Pip I downloaded the concert. If it's on the web it's mine ;-)
Thanks for posting CF. It was very moving with Joe's mum still around to have a tequila with Sammy. ("my kinda girl")
Mikes the brits still pay a license fee to the gvrnment for public broadcast so: we don't pay, we don't see their online iPlayer re-views.
Still waiting impatiently for Joe's demos of the new Ice9 pedal Vox promised on their Utube chanl

JOE--Please keep having a great time doing what you're doing because it spreads the joy all over the planet!
Great smiling picture of Jeff Beck on the cover of June's issue of Guitar Player. In May's edition a whole article in the Lessons section about how to play like Joe.
Steve Vai has released the next chapter of ...Wild Things.
I love all these chapters in musicians lives :-)

Hey!
Long time, no see. How is everything going? I hope you all are having a great time. I have just fisnished recording three guitar instrumentals. They have turned out really amazing. One with a touch of Spain, another with alot of energy and a third sad one. I told you about the sad one for a couple of months ago. And alot of people wanted to hear it. So here it is. I really hope you enjoy it!!!
For the two other instrumentals you have to wait!
Mark Railton - For A Friend
What do you think about the song?

Hey Joe.. Have you ever thought about doing a G3 tribute tour for Jason Becker? I think it would be great if you and Steve Vai put something together with that!

I saw Them Crooked Vultures in concert tonight. If anyone has the chance to see them, you must! They were excellent.
John Paul Jones is amazing...he played a million different instruments:
- four-, eight-, 10- and 12-string basses
- lapsteel guitar (a lapsteel built into an actual guitar, with a strap and everything)
- mandolin
- violin
- keytar
- keyboard (with bass pedals)
It was amazing watching him change from instrument to instrument between songs. He had a huge smile on his face the whole night, too.
I've now seen half of Led Zeppelin (I saw Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes in 1999). Hopefully I'll get to see Jason Bonham with Black Country (er, whatever their new name will be) later this year.

Pee Silly, can today then, be a day of smiles and happiness?
My daughter is now 30 weeks pregnant with my first grandson and I am slowly but surely starting to uncross things. He's gonna be a rock fan, when other types of music are on he's fairly quiet but when we put some Led Zep, Purple or Joe on he starts dancing. It's hilarious because it's very uncomfortable for my daughter but on the other hand she is so rapt that she's managed to keep him inside this long after all her previous problems.

Peace, sorry to hear about your dad and neighbor...sometimes trying to stay positive is a lotta work just by itself. I hope all goes well for him, and you find something to smile about today.
Cappy, that's excellent news about your daughter and grandbaby-to-be :) I predict the crusty ole sailor is gonna turn to complete mush at first site of the baby, and you'll never look back, lol!!! Rock indeed, it's never too early to start bringin em up right!!
Blue buffalo/Freddy.....sorry to hear you are both still struggling like that, I was hopeful things had gotten better by now....still hopeful for you and your family but as you say, it's out of your hands and what will be, will be. Hugs to you both.
Nice to know yer still out there kickin and causing trouble like usual Mr. Pippy :)) Nice vids too!! As for the last webcast...ermmm....which one was that? I can't remember if it was Joe or a Chickenfoot...but unless I was in a coma, I was likely watching it :) I hope the CF webcast coming up is accessible, I never know with my computer *skills* if I can get things or not, or how to fix it so I can.
It's my Friday today, since we have mandatory closure tomorrow for state-wide budget cuts. Chrispy coming home tonight, brother off fishing all weekend, so we can CRANK IT UP!!! woo hoo!!
