g'day everyone.I was wondering if anyone could help me.I play an ibanez rg370 dxz which comes from the factory with inf4 humbker pickup in the bridge and inf3 single coil in the middle and inf3 humbker in the neck.they are supposed to produce good harmonics but i cant seem to get any really good ones out of it so i was wondering if anyone knows if the pickup height would have an affect on how good the harmonics are,or if not what are some good choices of pickup that produce good rock tones and harmonics.thanks.

Just listened to a segment on Itunes of Van Halen's single Tattoo. I gotta say....Not at all impressed. Hopefully it's just the 1:30 piece that was chosen as the preivew. Not sure. I really want to like it, but I'm not sure I want to spend 1.29 on it either. =\

Peace Lily - Ya. I hope it grows on me too. I REALLY want to like this new CD. I have been a long time fan like so many. Don't want to be let down after waiting all these years for something new.
Honestly after listening...the guitar work is ok...you know it's Eddie....but I think it's the lack of Mike's backing vocals. And perhaps I just don't care for it yet, because when you listen to van halen there are 2 things you expect....Eddie's guitar and Mike's backing harmonies.
Thanks for the link! I'll keep listening and see what happens.

Maybe if I would have listened to Tattoo without the video to distract me it might have went over better? Might give that a try later.
Getting my Grooveshark on now :-)
Song playing - Korn ft. Skrillex - Get up! (oh how I enjoy that tune!)
next up - The Mermen - White Trash Raga

My old RG had inf3 and 4 Pups, I replaced the bridge with a Dimarzio Mo'Joe. (Used in the JS1200 I believe) that worked pretty well. Then I got a JS1000 and switched the Fred for the Mo'Joe. So the RG has the infs back but I haven't played it since, it doesn't even have strings on it at the moment.

thanks guitarman,i was thinking dimarzio.i figured that if the inf was that good they would be in ibanez top range guitar's as well.i was also thinking that the js model's have freds or mo jo's and paf joe's so there must be a reason for that(there obviously better).
and to skippygirl i was kinda hoping joe might answer the circle of fifth's question for me but never mind i guess he's pretty busy.i think its say the iii chord in A is c#minor and the flat3 chord is Cmaj(i think),this would take you out of the key of A,im not sure how to use the circle properly to create chord progressions but i guess i will learn eventually.

Yea Cmaj would take you out of the diatonic key of A major alright and into a diff key
A b c# D E f# g# are in the key of A maj and you can make chords in that key from those notes, ofc you can add sus' and add notes in there for some extra shit...f#minor is the relative minor but is the same thing but all that jazz is in Amaj
When u take the basic major scale and start sharpening and flattening things then you change the key and start messing around with tones/scales
So to make a minor scale, all we do is flatten the 3rd, 6th and 7th notes in a major scale
SO Amaj is... A b c# D E f# g#.... flatten the 3rd, 6th and 7th and we get a b C D e F G... which is A minor.... which is the relative minor in the key of C MOTHERTRUCKIN MAJOR!!! magical...
but yea circle of 5ths helps reference some key shit pretty quick and is handy once you get a bit of theory goin' on... Once you get your head around stuff you see some patterns emerging in theory for keys and intervals and stuff... lots of resources around now to explain it better than me
Don't know if it helped, but I havn't spent this long on a post in ages

Hi Joe, I would like to ask you a question that would help me with my 15 year old. He has had a passion for guitar since about age 11, so we put him in lessons and ever since then he plays about 2-3 hours weekdays and sometimes all day weekends.
My question to you is how much time did you spend when you were younger with guitar and" balancing school."
PS, and were your folks encouraging.
Thank you Kindly, we love your music style,
- Alexis and Weston

oh snap, thanks for correcting me, I meant the 2400. duh. *facepalm*
and I was also considering putting the blade style pickup on the 2400 in the middle of my RG, but never got around to it. and now that I have a JS guitar it probably won't happen.

Peace - thank you, I was very excited but once I saw Joe on the screen I was OK.
I do suggest we try for an all female hangout with Joe - what do you think??
chookchook - you got your answer right there from Blue Moon. And I think Flash Moron also answered your question too.
