Finally seeing Joe play in Blu-Ray detail is just mind blowing!!
I didn't really care for the "movie" style intro, and I had to crank the sound on my receiver to 0.0 (daily listening is -17 to -25) to get a good response out of my speakers. I thought that was a little odd. Other than that, man, it is just AWESOME! The sound is great, the picture is sharp, and Joe plays like an animal! (Though not quite the animal he was in Reno, wish they could have filmed that show!) I am spending so much time on the first half of the disc that I've only made it to Premonition.
Joe has such great tone in this DVD, Marshall was a good way to go, and Do The Stu was right IMO, it does rival the Live in San Fran DVD. There are a couple of Joe boo-boo's, but he pulls them off really well, and I notice he seems to have gotten out of the habit of shaking his head when he knows he made a mistake, so that makes it even less noticeable. There were prolly a couple that I missed because he pulled them off so well, and the only reason I noticed them in the first place was because I saw him twice on that tour and kind of knew what was coming. But we all know Joe had a lot on his plate that night, and to deliver a performance like he did was just a miracle as far as I'm concerned.
I'm heading over to Amazon to rate this baby 5 stars because:
a: it is that good
b: some asshat rated it 3 stars and it needs all the 5's it can get to make up for it!
I do need to order a new Blu-Ray because my dog already ate the case to this one.... Can't be having that!
And one more thing.. For those that haven't ordered yet; the Blu-Ray comes as ONE disc. It plays 3D if you have a 3D setup or 2D if you have a 2D setup. I know Amazon says it contains 3 discs, I don't know where they got that.

Been watching the Satchurated vids on Youtube, because I don't have the DVD yet, and I gotta say, Joe's playing is getting even better. It's amazing!!! I don't how he can actually get any better, but it seems as if his playing has reached a whole new level. His fingers move so fluently and he wastes no notes. Every little nuance is perfectly landed. Not to mention his tone is top notch!!! The amazing thing is we all thought this in the past. He's reaching a step above perfection.

I was recently asked to play in my schools spring sports assembly, to open, and to play the national anthem of the U.S., I will try and send you a couple of videos with this performance. I wish i could see you and the rest of Chickenfoot when you guys come to Denver, but i've got studying for finals i have to get on. hope your show goes well!

I did the opposite and watched the 2nd disk before the first. Aww man, seeing the guys smile and have fun was really good for my broken heart. Watching it, and knowing how hard that day was for Joe - wow! What an amazing tribute to his little mama by stepping up and putting on such an amazing show. Two Sides & The Golden Room are two of my favorite songs so it was sweet to have them back to back. I love how much fun the guys were having! Inside The Wormhole is great!! The step by step was a fantastic idea, and you really get a good idea of what it takes to put a record together...and how stupid-funny people get while doing it. lol! It was so nice hearing Solitude and Littleworth Lane in there. It was nice to see Mike Manning & Mick too. They have fans too ya know. LOL! Hopefully tomorrow I'll get time to watch disk 1?
As for Solitude, I think it's one of the most beautiful songs every written.
Satch's smiles and Jeff's dimples (I'm not gonna lie - those f'n dimples...) and just the camaraderie within the band during down time was an hour + of smiling from ear to ear! I really needed that.
Thanks Joe! I love ya man.

Yeah M disc 2 is the bomb! I loved the bonus tracks and material. Wish I had a 3D telly now coswhen I saw it in the cinema it was a great effect.
I reckon I played the DVD 15 times already, it's a ripper.
Well done Joe!
Thanks for the 2012 tour Joe!!

Michelle- I have not bought "Saturated" CD or DVD yet... just went to YouTube. Gonna hit Best Buy next week. I can not believe I did not pre-order it. I usually pre-order all things JOE.
I am glad disk 2 helped take your mind off things for a while....I really feel for your loss.
"They" say time heals all wounds but "they" are wrong...... Every day I miss my dad and I know I always will.

Thanks Deb. I've realized that you can sympathize & empathize with someone when it's their parent, but you never fully grasp the devastation until it's your own. I still have those thoughts that I can do something or buy something for my mom, then reality hits and I'm gutted. After telling a friend after one of these gut wrenching "aww f*ck!" thoughts, she said something that completely flipped the switch. She said "That is a good thing...you made seeing her a habit, not just an afterthought or convenience."
That's something i can hold in my heart forever.
I did my best. Now when I have that thought - as I just did in the grocery store 3 hours ago, as much as it hurts, I'm comforted by that habit.
I hope you're finding some comfort too.

Conch - I had some "Aww feck!!" thought meself today and my dad passed over 16 years ago. In the first few moments it's incredibly sad but then i get to thinking what a great dad he was and i find it kinda comforting. I struggled for many years to come to terms with things but i know i never will, and i now see that as a good thing. I will always remember his passing with sadness but also with thanks and warm thoughts for who he was and what he was to me. Shit, rufty tufty ole sea dog welling up here! Seriously though, I hope you're able to manage your feelings. Like I said, took me feckin years.

While away i listened to the new VH album through crappy airline type earphones and it sounded great, just ordered it online and can't wait to get it on my machine and crank it baby. Peter Gabriel's latest sounds mighty fine too but it's prolly not to the taste of many in here.
Oh yeah, while I was away little Gemma has come out of hospital. Thanks to all who wished her well.

Toosh, you can listen to the entire VH album on Spotify. Satchurated is there too. Haven't bought VH's new one, and don't think I will. I'm still digesting the new Anthrax, Metallica, & Satriani cd's. Listening to the new Buckethead now for the first time. Song 2 and 4 are good, songs 1 & 3 meh.
Gah, all my distractions are distracting me from staying distracted! So much to do today. I'm never going to be ready for that 26 mile marathon I was going to run and WIN in my head later today. Guess I'll just have to stick to winning the clog dancing contest at 2 pm in front of the JC Penny water fountain at the mall.
*sigh*
Onward!!

Buckethead is unique, not entirely my cuppa tea but some of his stuff is amazing. My mate (who can laik the git fiddle a bit) and who knows music is not a big fan, he reckons the bucketmeister's chord progressions are somewhat limited but he can fiddle about in between making some pretty good sounds. Any of the musos here want to chuck in their two cents worth? I would be genuinely interested.

Personally, I kinda hate ordering Joe stuff from Amazon. It always takes waaaaay ferever for stuff to arrive, long after release date. Still waiting for Satchurated....sigh. Wish there was a store in this town with the good sense to stock Joe's cd's and dvd's regularly!!
Meanwhile, it's tried to snow here today, and by Saturday will be 65 and sunny...go figger!!

Glad to see you Napa peeps made the dvd..sigh I was at the box office getting my back stage pass. Jon did film us but we were not worhty LOL. If you want to be on a Joe Satriani DVD you have to hang with Do The Stu.
The concert footage from Napa was electric for me :-)

@michelle- A good BH album to get into is Decoding The Tomb Of Bansheebot. It's a little less "avant-garde". Another good one is Electric Tears which shows Buckethead's calm and peaceful side of playing.
The thing about Buckethead is that he is so different than other guitarists, such as Joe, Steve, Paul, EJ, etc. I'm not saying he's better or worse, just different. Buckethead's songs can separate you from reality and make you feel like you are the last person on Earth. Just listening to that song......all by yourself. Whenever I listen to Electric Tears the music just envelopes and isolates me. I don't know how to explain it any better than that. You just might want to listen to it yourself. Angel Monster

Hello Joe. One of your big fans David Markov, aged 14, died in the arms of his mum and dad on 24th April, 2012 after a severe asthma attack. One of your songs will be played at his funeral on Tuesday 1st May, 2012 at 11.00am at St Thomas Church, Drysdale, Victoria, Australia.
He was a dedicated guitarist and one day would have been great. Unfortunately his life ended before it could have been fulfilled.
If at all possible, a message from you for his funeral would be wonderful farewell for a boy who was much loved by his family, friends and everyone who knew him.
I understand that you are busy and may not even see this on time. Thank you for your attention, your music, the pleasure you gave David and the passion that you set alight in him during the short time he spent here on this earth.

My stomach just flopped reading about 14 year old David. May God give his family and friends the strength to get through this. RIP little man.
Oxley, it was Electric Sea I was listening to. Angel Monster is a lovely song. Maybe it's his tone? Just can't put my finger on it, but it's not soothing to my ears.
I was listening to this yesterday and wanted to post it. Now that's a guy with good tone but questionable attire. lol!
