I like Jake E. Lee a lot, as I do all of Ozzy's guitarists (yes, even Brad Gillis from Night Ranger on Speak Of The Devil). Here's a link to the SWTA cover:

That's from the combination Satch and Vai tribute album Lords Of Karma. Looking at the description just now, I see Jimmy Crespo plays on it...that means the Aerosmith fan in me has to buy it some day (Jimmy replaced Joe Perry from 1979-1984).

neil zaza does an awsome cover of friends, prob the best cover from satch the echo cover is laughable, and george lynch does a good cover too, must route the cd out its on my comp here but hardly ever listen to it
...actually im sure if any other average joe guitarist covered the song like that they'd get ntohing but flack for it, see what i did there?

Oxley11 and Peace Lily during the EOC tour stop here in Portland Joe did play Secret Prayer for us. In the past Austin and I have disagreed on it being played at all on that tour. I think he's just jealous he didn't get to taste it live. :-) I know what I heard and it was Secret Prayer.
I've also seen him play Crushing Day that was on the second leg of Crystal Planet tour in Portland. I must say it was a sweet sweet treat to hear that gem live. I can still hear Joe just burning up the stage with great leads in that song.

Bluebuffalo- Thank you for sharing that memory ...Secret Prayer is a song that stirs my soul, something about it just resonates in my being. It takes me to places I've been and to places I've never been.
To emotions I've felt and kind of leaves me yearning for something ....a place or a time in life and/ or something greater than those things.
I can't imagine what it would be like to hear either of those songs live. What really kills me is Portland is less than 200 miles away. I did not discover Joe's music until fall 2008..... I am way late to the party..lol.
Any way- hope every one had a good day ....I should call it a night :-)

Hi Joe,
I am one of your oldest fans, whom you met in 1995 in Annecy, France ... we had a long chat you and me after a concert there. It was really great, and 15 years after, I would like to say again thank you for this.
Now, I only have one question :
I am now living in Tokyo, in Japan. I settled there 10 years ago. When will I have the chance to see you on stage here ?

Blue_Moon - Echo is done by the guitarist I mentioned, Jimmy Crespo...I like the cover, as it sounds a bit different. I like the acoustic leanings of the Always... cover as well...but to be fair, I'm only going by the samples from Amazon.
More generally, I like tribute albums if they're done well (and if the songs are "different" enough from the originals), but I think it's hard to do that when the music being covered is instrumental to begin with.
The Led Zeppelin tribute album done by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and a Garbage tribute album done by a string quartet are both really good, IMHO.
There are some good Aerosmith tribute albums out there...my favorite is an early-era tribute, Night In The Ruts, done by a bunch of underground metal bands. The Not The Same Old Song And Dance album has an interesting version of Dream On done by Ronnie James Dio, Yngwie Malmsteen, Stu Hamm, and Greg Bissonette.
bluebuffalo - I vaguely remember that conversation about Secret Prayer. Do you remember where in the set it was? In place of one of the other CP songs, maybe?
And I agree it's always great to hear Crushing Day...I caught it on the SBM tour and at the SWTA anniversary show at the Roxy. It was also played at the first few shows on the G3 2003 tour and some European PSATMOR shows.
Peace Lily - Where do you live, if I can ask? If you're to the south of Portland by 200 miles, you need to make the trek to San Francisco for a Joe show with Mahavishnu and cheese101 and me sometime. With our luck you're probably to the north, though, where Joe hasn't really played in a while.
mikesb - The Black Country album is in the can, but there are a lot of rumors flying around about how the band imploded and might not tour due to managers and money and egos and all those supergroup-y things that don't interfere with Chickenfoot. I'll try to dig up some more info for you...
And I'd love to see Jason Bonham live, but I don't want to see him as part of that tour...it just doesn't feel right to me.
D_O_M - Thanks for posting the Alex Lifeson interview!
...Austin...

Turn the news on Scooby Doo, Guam has tilted and is slowly dipping under the ocean under the weight of foreign troops. Joe can't go because planes cannot land on the steeply sloping runway.

Do The Stu- I live 200 miles east of Portland, but when Joe tours again I will be going to the closest / best location I can. I have informed the powers that be..... (Hubby) that we will be going. It would be awesome to meet up with some T2Jers........ for a JOE SHOW :-)
