Austin, I tried to watch the first video. After 30 seconds I couldn't take it anymore. Enough SR for one night for me. lmao! I just told my son to read yer post. He says I didn't hear either of those songs on the dvd. He also says he can play Saeglopur on the piano (he plays bass & keys). He also told me about the half Icelandic, half made up language. S'up wit dat? lol! Okay, I have the vidoe on again. Maybe if I type while it plays it won't be so bad. lol! The dvd has a sub-title option on it, but he didn't put it on. I would have preferred it to at least get a grip on what they were singing about. Lyrics kinda sound like whale songs to me. lol! (no offense)HA! My son walked by and asked me if it was the 5 or 7 min. version. I said 7. He says "oh good!" lol! I'm not feeling the same sentiment. There was a little heavy bit around the 2 min mark that wasn't so bad, but again, whale song vocals. My son likes to wake up to his SR & Trevor Hall cd's for school. Easy mellow. lol! Trevor Hall I can listen to, SR...not so much. I'm a loner Dottie, a rebel...

I know there's a number of you who dig Joe Bonamassa but I don't know his stuff. I'm intrigued and want to give him a try, so have any of you got any suggestions as to which CD I should get as being particularly representative of his best work. I was introduced to JS when I was given a copy of ITLIS, I absolutely loved it and bought Anthology ASAP, since then I have bought all I could get my hands on.

anibur, nice lil factoid there :) Wanna come in the basket too? LOL....we gots ourselves a partay! McDave is buying all the beer we can drink!!

Cappy, u sound like me....the first time I saw Joe live, we came back home and I bought everything, and I mean EVERYTHING Joe-related I could get my hands on....cd's, dvd's, tab books, shirts, memorabilia, posters...Chris thought he had died and gone to Satch-heaven, lol!!!

As for Joe Bonamassa, I've heard a lil of him, Chris has a dvd and loves it, I have friends who say he's great....and I bet someone like Austin can make a wunnerful recommendation on what to start with!!

Thanks for the link axe, always love reading anything Joe-related! I've sent it to Chris, it's timely cuz he has his first rehearsal with this new situation coming up this Saturday.

michelle - Thanks for giving the music a try. It isn't for everyone, I know.

I have all of the band's CDs, and I really love their attention to detail with the packaging. None of their releases are just the standard clear plastic jewel case. They have CD cases with slip covers or colored plastic, cardboard "cases" that look more like small books, cardboard cases that fold out like LPs, and so on. It's really cool, from a collector's point of view.

The DVD you got your son has been out for a few years, so I assume it's the standard version? I bought it shortly after it was released and was able to get the limited edition, which comes in a slipcase with a very nice 100+ page hardcover book of photos. It's a really cool package.

I love it when bands do stuff like that.

Mari, sorry to hear about the break in. That sucks hard.

Joe does #2 on stage a lot when Sammy starts rambling and Chad is letting his adhd (IMO) run a muck. Just start playing, they'll eventually catch on and join in. lol! #5 makes so much sense too. You should see recording days around here. We need a feckin' revolving door! The guys are in and out so much it drives us crazy. Ahh yeah, good times.

Austin, the dvd says 2007. They seem like a band that's totally into art, which is pretty cool. It's just a standard issue. Nothing fancy. It was the only one on the website I was on at the time, and I figgered what the hell. He didn't ask for it, I just bought it as a surprise. He prolly would have liked that book. Next fancy schmancy thing they come out with, he might be all over it. lol! I just told my son that you got the 100+ page book. He says "Yeah...I didn't get that." LOL! You kids are funny!

Joe's pointers are interesting to the fact that forming a band isnt easy...to get 4 people on the same page takes alot of patience and respect....once you lose either....its a bomb about to blow...or slowly fizzle out. A nice insight to the Chickenfoot rehearsals...they had much respect for each other from the get-go and the results speak for themselves!

Thanks Austin, cannot do torrents on my work laptop...and of course, who in his right mind buys a home computer when your employer gives u a laptop! :) jejeje, will keep it in mind though, specially if it doesn't make it into the next full-season DVD release.

I've always liked how Fox comes up with the weirdest shows. 20 years ago, to watch The Simpsons and Married With Children was a revelation..."u can't show that on TV, can you??". They definitely leaned a lot on the Simpsons machine to grow and establish themselves as a network.

Peggy: I thought the true Bundy Legacy was underwear with just an elastic band.

That's a cool little piece on band rehearsals. I never really said anything about it here, but with all the Chickenfoot shows I saw over the summer it did bug me that Sammy was never there singing during soundchecks. Though now that I think about it, it kind of makes sense...why should Sammy be standing up on stage while Joe is trying to figure out which one of his dozen pedals is buzzing because of the way the building is wired?

That doesn't work as an excuse for mediocre singers, but Sammy's obviously on a much higher level than that.

cheese101 - Actually, I'm in the same boat as Cappy Steve. I've heard tons of good things about Joe Bonamassa as well, but I don't own any albums and am not sure where to start either. I guess the live DVD mikesb mentioned is as good a place to start as any?
elpp - I can see the special being a DVD extra, but they'd probably only include it on the season 21 set. So we'd have a long time to wait. What type of internet connection do you have at home? And on your work laptop do you have AOL IM, or another messaging program that allows you to do file transfers? I could send the video file to you that way, if we leave our computers on overnight.

Also, just a reminder that the Simpsons season 20 comes out on DVD tomorrow. It bugs me that they're going out of order with it, but oh well.

Al: hell yeah!

BTW, between the Sigur Ros vid that Austin posted and the one u posted last week (fever ray, thx Lily!), u have all now freaked me out. Never going near water again...

And yet I liked them both...

edit: didn't see Michelle and Austin had posted.

Austin: At home I have an HSDPA wireless card from my cell carrier. Decent, but I get charged by the Megabyte after a certain amount, so not an option. At work we have all external messaging blocked, firewalls at the corporate and plant level (yes, we are paranoid jejeje). Don't worry 'bout it dude, I'll find the way. Thx again!!!

Now here's an oddity for y'all,

a co-worker friend of mine wants me to give her guitar lessons. We'll start tomorrow.

So here's the big metal kid, DT fan, learning to play Oasis and Coldplay songs because that's what she wants to learn...Stand By Me (the Oasis version, not the one we all know) and The Scientist to start. Good thing that I was able to find the tabs rather quickly (thanks Saint Google).

oh well, at least it's not Mexican Banda songs :) night all!

Still have my favorite Joe , but this other Joe pretty darn good...... lol....

Never heard of Sigur Ros before , I'll check that out tomarrow . and Fever Ray is a bit addictive...............

Time fer bed,

good night Satchland

Skippy- Thanks for the Cash. Had not seen that vid before. It was good to see him get to work with many of the "New Generation" late in his life. My grandfather has always been an excellent singer and is making as many recordings as he can. Karaoke of course. I never noticed until these past couple of years, until he started to go through it, but they see a sence of urgency to fill up their lives with things they never took time for. Kinda makes you wonder why we as humans wait too long and never get to do things like that.

Chelle- Your husband in an accident? Hope he is doing better.

Best wishes all

Hey, Joe

The Namm Show is coming up January 14th to the 17th. I'm pretty sure you know that already, but I can't help thinking....

Are you going to announce/introduce your two new pedals at the show?

Can't wait to see what cool new pedals you have in store for everybody.
