I thought I'd share this video with everyone...Aerosmith doing Sick As A Dog in San Jose in 2002 (a show I was at...woohoo!).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb1SquD3m5k&NR=1

Joe Perry explains it at the beginning, but basically... Tom Hamilton wrote the riff on guitar, so he plays rhythm guitar with Brad Whitford instead of playing bass. Joe starts off on bass, but when it's time for the guitar solo he hands the bass to Steven Tyler and picks up a guitar. They did all of that instrument-switching when they first recorded the song, too.

The band has been such a mess lately that I thought it'd be fun to show a video from better times...

mikesb - I'd love to see a halftime performance that's more than just one band...that's what's so predictable. The last few years all seem the same, even down to the stage setup. It'd be neat to see more than one artist at halftime...it's been a while since that's happened.
michelle - Prayers and good thoughts headed your way.

...Austin...

Hey Do The Stu, it hasn't been that long since the halftime show was a jukebox of musicians. Before Janet's peep show the previous few were multiple acts. I remember too, when the Buffalo Bills were losing their super bowls it was single acts. MJ was one of them that I remember. Both formats have been tried we are all just hard to please from year to year.

I was one that wasn't looking forward to seeing The Who and was hoping to see something new or different from them. Instead I got vocals that were out of sync that turned me off. The light show was cool however having seen LIP several times this week I was a bit jaded.

Someone mentioned Sammy Hagar for next year's game on Mark & Brian. Remember we talked about Chickenfoot doing halftime.

Congratulations Chickenfoot!!!!!! GW's Readers Poll Best new band

..and Joe..i enjoyed your article on Hendrix. Why werent you written about, ill never get that....also an article on Supergroups with a closing not to forget Chickenfoot.with stupid name..duh...clueless writer stated this band was built like DLR built his band by hiring the best musicians...someone need to straighten out the story. your just a bunch of guys writing music...why do they always need to label it as some sort of marketing plan..jeez...i dont think of chickens when i think of the foot..only stupid people do..lol ____________________________________

Chickenfoot goodies............

1) READER’s POLL WINNERS: Chickenfoot won “Best New Talent” in the 16th annual Guitar World Reader’s Poll Results, published in the March 2010 issue.

2) NEW ALBUM UPDATE: Classic Rock magazine got an update from chickenfoot’s manager, who dispelled a silly rumor and told them Chickenfoot will start recording their second album in April:

Rumour Of The Week: Hagar To Join Aerosmith gbarton / News / 05/02/2010 12:50pm

Is Sammy Hagar going to replace Steven Tyler as Aerosmith’s frontman?

Earlier this week Classic Rock heard the news that the Chickenfoot (and former Montrose/Van Halen) singer had agreed to sing with the Boston band on a forthcoming world tour.

A source told us:

“The idea is for Sammy and Aerosmith to rake in big bucks on the road while leaving Steven Tyler to sort out his problems. Then Tyler would return to the band in a couple of years’ time.”

Hagar, we reckon, is one of the few singers who could handle Tyler’s scat singing style and idiosyncratic lyrics. So the story made a strange kind of sense.

We contacted Hagar’s manager, John Carter, and told him we had it on good authority that Sammy was joining Aerosmith.

Carter reponded: “Good authority must mean The Enquirer because his Led Zep gig conflicts with the Aerosmith job.

“Seriously, Sam is very happy to be going into the studio with Chickenfoot to start the second album in April.”

The Aerosmith camp declined to comment.

3) LIVE DVD UPDATE: Joe Satriani was interviewed at the VOX booth during the NAMM 2010 show and said that Chickenfoot’s upcoming DVD will be released in sometime in April and will contain at least one hour of really cool bonus features in addition to the live concert filmed in Tempe, Arizona last year. ___________________________________

Managers Comment about Zep Gig..is hilarious!!!! but the news that Chickenfoot is ready and roaring to go is the best news! Clearly the boys are making time for the demand!!

Thanks peeps. Hugs all around. Just got home a bit ago. They have to figure out what's going on with my mom. She might need to adjust her heart meds to bring her heart beat back up instead of getting shocked again. If that doesn't work, they'll put in a pacemaker. They also have to get her diabetes sorted. That could be a huge part of all this because she wasn't eating right. She's dehydrated, yet has a lot of edema. They have to sort that out. Kidney issues too. I thought she was a goner this morning, but she's a tough old bird. She'll be in the hospital a few days - which is where she should have been 2 weeks ago.

Another foot of snow coming Tuesday night into Wednesday :-/

Hi everyone. Hey everytime I get to the chat room there's no one :/

What's cool with Joe is that every year or almost, you got a new magnificent album, without having been bored of the latest one.

Michelle- I wish a fast recovery for your mother.

michelle; what kinda tekillya does ya drink?

who dat? it's the Saints who beat Payton Manning!! I like two teams, the Patriots and anybody who plays the Colts!!!

as for the Who, they should stop playing now. they are like the Stones; getting too old. it would be different if they aged like Joe or Sammy but i guess it was too many drugs.

did anyone catch the Sammy song during the commercials?

gotta grab an energy drink to stay up for Jimmy tonight lol

thanx for the update axe!!

michelle; hoping your mom a speedy recovery. i know it can be tough at times but stay positive and it can sometimes create positive results.

Scubadaz - True comment about the DVD. You always have to see these things for yourself and form your own opinion. Outside of basic facts, opinions and reviews are subjective. Happy Watching!!

Don1963: Didn't know you hated the Colts so much (my home state). I didn't care which team won the Super Bowl because I like both teams, even though I'm not a huge football fanatic. When it comes to sports, I'm more of an Olympic fan.

The Winter Olympics starts this Friday. WOOHOO! :)

Austin, nice Aerosmith vid.

Don, it was tequila by default because I ran out of jager. My friend bought me a bottle of Two Fingers tequila and some frilly drink mix stuff for Christmas, and I forgot I had it. I'll prolly never use the mix. lol! I haven't had tequila for a few years. I forgot how much it tastes like... i dunno...burnt wood? lol! Maybe Cabo is smoother, but so far, I'm not a fan of tequila. lol! With that said, you must always be aware of The side effects of tequila!

Damn, I'm tired.

Dear Joe, First of all, thank you for this opportunity to interact ask questions etc. This realy keeps me inspired to keep playing, not 24/7 though...(lol) 2nd, i have started taking lessons in 88/89 but only continued under pressure. Parents you know. Back then it felt like a chore and soon i stopped after just 2 years of practice. Also money was an issue, so didn''t get the right material (music wise), to keep going. So i stopped for bout 12 years. Had a different hobby, playing darts. In one of the pubs we played competision, they where known for their "alternative" music, Surfing with the Alien was playing. Wich i didn't know, sounded very cool (and still does !!). Suddenly i just had to ask the bartender who this artist was and what cd. " Well this is Joe" he said. (i can remember it like it was the day before yesterday) "???" So i asked him if he could tell me wich track was playing, it completely blew me away. Circles was the track, i had to get it into my fingers!!! It was just the atmosphere i liked. I imagined me being in the goldenages at a ball, dancing with women dressed in those immense dresses. Anyway back taking lessons. I bought my first Electrical, 2nd hand, but that didn't matter. It's an Ibanez too, a RG140. Mostly playing acoustic i created a few ideas that sound very good but got stuck somehow with at least 2 songs i have made. I don't know how it works exactly but : Would it be possible to get a (few) suggestion(s) or a judgement of one song from you? Though it's made for acoustic i'd like to put some elecrtic elements to it,solo pehaps? I realy have no clue. Now ( finally ) got a few folks together to jam, wich i didnt do for to long, and quickly experiencing progress! Still can't keep up with you gnr.. gnr...Lol. One other thing, well 2 things, since i was playing darts, i realy wanted to use a Satch song that fit pefectly; Cool #9. Because the perfect game of "501" is a nine dart finish...!!! But that's out of the question. I now play more guitar because music is about love, merging. Darts is also bout love but is more about division. Guitar never tires me, wel,l at the end of the day.....LoL. Just missed Chickenfoot last jear in Holland. Got the the messege on the day of y'r gig. I hope this wasn't the last time the formation was over here. Well in time i'll get me a loaf !! ;) Thanks again Joe. If you wouldn't answer, it realy helped me getting things off my chest. Thanks Professor, you never ROCK alone...

Martin, the Netherlands
