A point to consider perhaps......
Lotsa folk here reckon Joe should get more recognition with the Grammy's etc. In my opinion he'll continue to struggle for that recognition while a large percentage of his fanbase are guitar nerds (no offence intended). So there is Joe with his new DVD, trying to broaden his appeal and the very people who complain he doesn't get enough recognition are feckin moaning about it. At least that's how I see it. For many non players there is a limit to how much they watch of mainly one person playing, now matter how good he is. We want to be entertained, have something visually stimulating while the fantastic music is playing. I'm gonna get the DVD.

As far as I understand from a video interview Joe cs bought it from a guy who paid and produced it, and than offered the finished product (?) to him to buy. And is there no marketing strategy behind it, they just liked what they saw and released it.

Thanks peeps. Just got off the phone with my mama. She's not doing good at all. Barely had the strength to hold the phone after 2 minutes. Dunno why they didn't put her in the hospital yesterday? Now they have her on meds that make her so sick in the stomach. They did give her pills to counteract the nausea, but she's on so many effin meds she hates to take another one. I told her that if she took that pill, she might feel better, but she says it only last a little while anyways. My poor mama. I just can't get over that they shocked her heart to slow it down, and now it's going to damn slow. Ya think they would effin act on that, huh? They put her on a heart monitor at home. It doesn't help that we're all snowed in either. *sigh*
Anyways, I'll try not to post much more about it on the board. It just gets a bit heavy sometimes. All yer prayers and good vibes are appreciated more than you know. Thanks.

Cappy, good point... here's another one: If you heard a song that had a lead line of non stopping 16th notes that went on for hours, how long would you listen to it?
It's not the effects per se, it's the amount used over footage of a band that was already playing in front of a giant backdrop LED...

Hiya.......Just got a few moments to post here after spending time with my Steve and tryin' to get the house in order, if that were possible. LOL!
Got to see "Live In Paris" from beginning to end. Joe listens so well, it should be no surprise how well he plays after all his life experiences, including landing in a family of 3 sisters and One brother. With parents, uncles and aunts and 4 siblings to dote on him....need I say more? It seems that way with the youngest......I remember how my older sister doted on me when we were very young and also when I was 11 and my first sister 15 when our younger sister arrived......She was treated like a princess!
Joe really loves his fans! Anyone who meets him can tell his love is unfeigned! And Jeff is so much the same that way! They greet you with smiles at least 6 inches wide! I got to meet Stu as well and he is such a great guy......great "brothers" all! And meeting Christie Campitelli was so cool and unexpected! A night I will always remember at Slims with it's greeting post and posts with built-in trays!
Joe, thanks for the intro to Mermen. Nice tunes!
Hello to Alan Mc-young Blue_Moon and Canadian Cube (of the geometric kind or ungeometric???)
Listening to ITLIS---loving the title track, If I Could Fly, Just Look Up, I Like the Rain (fun lyrics), Searching & Bamboo.
I didn't know Joe was into "cooking" and "pedaling" until I listened to Searching! Joe, that song does something to my ears that reaches me like no other! I love the way you did that! ;-)

JS1200 WHAMMY BAR ISSUES. Joe, I don't know if you actually read these posts but I recently purchased a lefty js1200 and I absolutely love it! My question is, how do you keep your tremolo arm from swinging? I want mine to stay put like yours. I've replaced the bushings but that doesn't really seem to help all that much. I'd be forever grateful for your input. Thank you..
Scott
p.s. I'm hoping to catch the upcoming gig at the Gibson Ampitheater. Gotta see you do the Satch scream in person..........

cappy, here ya go
scottrap, the stock JS1200 has an Edge Pro trem, if you look closely, most of JOE's guitars have the original Edge tremolo installed so that won't help you... some electrical tape around the trem might, though... there's plenty of advice about that over jemsite...

My preorderd DVD of I Just Want to Rock came yesterday. I have been waiting so long for the next DVD since "Satriani live".
The performance is incredible. But why so many Special effects on with the video? For me It totally ruined the viewing experience. It's like a bad LSD trip from the 60's. All I can say is what a disappointment. I will enjoy the CD set though because the performance was awesome.

Thanks Scubadaz. I'm not the guy singing and playing though. I'm just the other guy playing the Telecaster. 8P
Sammy Hagar was on "Celebrity Ghost Stories" tonight.
He said that when he was in his 20's and just starting a family, his alcoholic father showed up at his apartment at 3 or 4 in the morning wanting to come in and talk to him. Sammy would'nt let him in and told him to come back when he sobered up. He got a phone call about an hour later from his family saying that his dad had been found dead on a park bench in San Bernadino. Sammy was in San Francisco...438 miles away. F##kin' creepy..

Creepy! but it happens way more often than anyone cares to admit.
While we're on this subject, I hosted my office's Christmas party last December, and at one point I looked out the window because I heard a car outside. Sure enough, the husband of one of my coworkers was there. Next Monday she pulls me to the side and tells me "my husband asked me who was the kid that looked out the window, right next to Jose..."
I have not slept with the lights off since...

Life is good when we can play beautiful guitar with nice technique and make it sing....
Life is bad when you can't follow the rhythm, no matter how good you are technically with your instrument.
I need help... because its sad.

Haven't seen this posted here yet....
Joe at NAMM.
He's at the Vox booth in this one, but this isn't the same vid that was posted here awhile back. Quick shot of what appears to be Joe standing next to an all Vox pedalboard about 20 seconds in. Not sure, but other than his signature pedals, kinda looks like a V847 Wah on the right and a ToneLab in the back??
Sorry to hear everyone is having such a hard time with skyroo. I was a little peeved that they didn't ship my pre-order out until the release date, but I got it on the 6th and was surprised to find that bith the DVD and CD booklets were autographed. The second one I ordered hasn't made it here yet, but I only paid for regular shipping rather than expedited. I will join the group of those who hope that maybe someday this DVD will be reissued so that we can actually watch the concert. The CD's have been playing here non-stop, but I can honestly say I will never watch the DVD again.
I think I had heard somewhere about the DVD was supposed to appeal to a wider audience, but to me it is such a radical change from what the usual audience wants that I kind of feel slapped in the face.
Anyway, I have been watching my other Joe DVD's to soothe my pain, but there is still an empty spot that only LIP will be able to fill. I want to SEE Joe play all of these songs that sound so damn good!
Ian
