Slanshroom: Thanks Roy. Hope you get the guitar job/gig. You deserve it!
Glad to see Canada got their first gold in the Olympics (on their home soil). I'll miss it tonight due to work. I wanted to see if the Chinese pair (Shen & Zhao) will get the gold in pairs figure skating. I'm also rooting for the other Chinese pairs and the couple from Germany. Russia won it too many times; it's time for another country to win it. Best to all the athletes.

I don't agree with La Rue not having chemistry with Petrucci... It's just that JP's music has so many odd time signature changes, you have to be awake and count all the time. Besides, recreating those tunes for a trio had Dave play a lot of unison and harmonized lines with JP, that ain't no easy task, specially in a bass where the neck is so much bigger... Watch the DVD again, Dave is locking up with Portnoy so JP can shine, and he did a wonderful job at it...

Slanshroom- RE; fishing chocolate biscuits out the DVD player.... ;-) Da good ol days ..when my boy was small he would put all kind of things in the VCR ...... toast , crackers..etc. now he's almost grown up......those days do go by sooo FAST ( seems like yesterday)...............
Good Luck with yer red tape issues too.
GG2- Your welcome for the links and yes ..... a good source of learning for newbies 'cause I am one too. I can't stop watching Joe links.......so much to catch up on and so little time.... And on the age issue, I think age is just a number ...look at Joe he's more active than most teens ......... I wonder if he's still eating vegan? Seems to be working for him.....
Blue Moon - I too am curious bout the friend "pissing" Dave off........you must fill us in on the details.
Glitzman- Way to go!!!!!!!!!!

Slans,
Good luck with the geetar teaching. I wish you get the job.
If I were 30 years younger and living a happy student live, I would apply for the rookie guitar class, if you were the teacher.

hugsamuchilus - all good things come to those of us who wait right? Mine has to make it to Melbourne so I'm sure you'll get your DVD before me.
mikesb - great Canada gold there, and of course we got the silver....the fact that Dale is a Canadian skiing for Australia is beside the point we grab whoever we can haha.
Glitzy - well done on the run buddy!! Great result. I, too, love the Olympics (well, all sport) so I'm enjoying the coverage, looking forward to Torah Bright's performance especially. My joey number 2 was born 12 years ago this Thursday and it was fantastic cos the Winter Olympics were on and I was able to watch it for the whole 2 weeks with my new little baby in the wee hours.
slan - great news about the job, congratulations. I wish you could teach in Melbourne I'd be your number 1 student (as in most need of your help). If you get any 40's ish women come in wanting to learn please be extra patient and charming with them :0).
Michelle - cool Satch site thanks for that link.

I like Stuuu the most (big surprise there), followed by Dave LaRue. Matt Bissonette is wonderful, a great bass player and a nice guy, but he's my least favorite of Joe's bassists. However, I think Joe and Jeff both play better when they're with Matt than when they're with anyone else...some of the shows from that era are among my favorite Satch gigs.
hybes - I'm still looking for full-time work. I'm sending out more resumes now than I was a few months ago, which I see as a good sign as far as the economy goes. I'll find something soon...
And about Dave LaRue, he also played with John Petrucci on the 2001 G3 tour...so the two of them do have some history together. There may be other connections, but Dream Theater's Jordan Rudess played keyboards in the Dixie Dregs for a bit in 1994. Dave LaRue has been their bassist since the late 1980s.
Ethn Hayabusa - Cool story about Steve Morse...do you have a link to the interview? I'd love to read it...
michelle - That's a very cool site...it's a bit outdated, but there's a ton of great info there. Thanks for sharing...

HYBES: La Rue was not a last minute fill for Petrucci, as Austin points out he did Petrucci's first G3 in 01. Man that was an awesome tour.
Wanna see some pics from that tour? :)
CUBE: Petrucci is apparently working on a second solo release, would not surprise me at all to see him out with G3 again. So get ready to be bored some more!! jejeje. I totally disagree with you but respect your opinion.
Putting Summer Song on all live DVD's, now that's boring.

I found it when I googled Matt Bissonette. I clicked on the pic of Joe & Matt and there it was. Easy peasy! Never seen the site before. Wonder if the guy who made it ever hangs out here?
Austin, spotted a familiar name in the "fan guitars" section of that site.

Live in Paris DVD. I know I haven't posted before and I really hate to make my first post a complaint. But, I have to.
The live in Paris DVD was a visual headache!! I can see doing some visual things hear and there but, two hours is just to much!!
Joe you don't have to do that stuff. Watching your talent, skill and overall love of playing guitar is awesome entertainment in my book!!
The show was great sounding. You and your guitar were on fire!! I just wish I could have seen it better. I basically wore my sunglasses so I could watch it.
I will love you and your music forever!!. Pleeaaase don't use that video crew again.

Peace Lily- thanks for that inerview! Great!
Nice Link Cheese..thanks
Nice Vid Austin..lol
Joe- Just saw the interview on the dvd..it was great...thanks for sharing such amazing insight to your career. The lady interviewing you deserves alot of credit. Ive been watching the rest of the video and reading many reviews and its clear to me...though the graphic fx can seem cool...especially to you ...Some art doesnt need to be enhanced..the art of just watching you play that guitar (and the band) is all you need to do...i think people who arent fans, or just dont understand the music may think that today you need to add enhancing graphics, but the only thing that comes to my mind, as ive heard from others, is to see a blue-ray video of you playing...thats what i will wait for so keep em comin! Gotta give it 4.5 stars of 5. Only because the quality of the fx wasnt tops, and it blocked the view of you playing at times♠
