Joe: Heard about the laryngitis ordeal. Hope you get better soon.
Peace Lily: Don't forget the Lysine; that helps as well.
Tracie, thanks for the Amazon link. I better put my order in soon.
Austin, glad you're having fun in Aspen.
Next album for me to listen to: G3 Live: Rockin' In The Free World.

Hey, Joe just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to shake me and my girlfriends hand at the Jimi Hendrix show in Mesa, AZ, especially considering all the crazy fans that swarmed around you after the show on the way to the parking lot.

Oh ok...well that part was left out of that particular post. I will agree that he was a stronger force in the studio. But it's still disrespectful nonetheless.

Peace Lily - Yah, EMERGEN-C is the bomb.... a guy hooked me up with some when I was out in Cali on business and it saved my a$$. Love that stuff. :) On a side note, my JSX 212 has developed a buzz.. :( Will have to use my son's Mini colossal in the meantime

Got my new Bonamassa in the mail today. Just finished the first track, Steal Your Heart Away. Absolutely wonderful. I actually just re-started it, I'm not ready to move on! This song has a very great, upbeat and groovy feel. I bet it would sound great live. Kind of reminds me of Ballad of John Henry a bit with that kind of beat that you can get your head swingin' a bit when you listen to it! Great way to open the album!
I'll post more later........
P.S. I forgot to mention in my EH review the other night that it was Ernie Isley's birthday, and Joe actually opened his set by playing a very wah-infused happy birthday for him... It was pretty cool, wish I would have recorded it!

So, guitar clever clogs peoples, how can a guitarist be fantastic in the studio but "sucks" live? Or is it all the litttle tricks and manipulations that can be done in the studio. It seemed back in my youth that the emphasis live was more about volume than quality half of the time.

Hi Joe,
I just joined the community here and I just to say thank you for being a great influence on my guitar playing. I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and I am self taught and I have always struggled with putting solos and phrases together efficiently and listening to your music and watching your video tutorials have made a huge difference in my playing over the last few years. :)
Thanks,
Shawn

Cappy...Yes...lots of control in the studio. And then you have to consider that those guys partied hard on the road with very little sleep. Even more so in the 60's and 70's. I'm not making excuses for JP though. Last night I was trying to find some decent live footage of him from back in the day..did'nt have much luck..lol.

Good Morning Satchland...... How goes it?
On the Page thingy. In the studio you can go over parts over and over again until it's right. "Live" it's one shot only. Editing back in the day was pretty primitive compared to today. Page gets a lot of criticism for being a sloppy player and I'm that camp. But, If you listen to the cd from the movie "Song Remains The Same" there's some really really great guitar work. Zeppelin was flawless that night. Plus, You can't take Page's songwriting away from him. One of the best Rock songwriters out there. Zeppelin's music is timeless, it's 40+ yrs. old and it's stands up to a lot of the music of today. Enough said...... Just my opinion.....end of rant......
