Hey, congrats Dave on yer new job, such tough times, just about anything is welcome, so go forth and prosper, lol! As to yer metal detecting hobby, I’m totally jealous!! If I’m ever in yer neck of the woods, can we go out hunting fer buried treasure? Lol!
Peace Lily, thanks for all the recent vids, so cool….and nice to see them since at my show I’d be really surprised if any vids or pics ever surface, security was really tight!
Chris finally watched the video of Joe introducing his JS2400 in white….I’ve been trying to convince him to consider it since he’s saving up for the 1200….and now he’s so completely torn, lol!! He’s in love with BOTH guitars so who knows which one he’ll go for!
Well, a few days later I’m gonna try to make sense of the Experience Hendrix show…I’m not the best reporter of these kind of events cuz I don’t always know the music, or the players, and don’t have a “players ear” for the music like my son and other musicians do…but gad DAMN that was a good time!!
I mostly like the way the show was crafted….it felt as though (with one exception) that each performer took the stage and managed to amp up the excitement level more and more. Started out kinda mellow and groovin, and kept building from there. I gotta say, Living Color was a total kick ass HOOT, lol!! SSSooooooooo much energy, dancing, can’t believe the singer can hit those damn high notes like that and they were all so engaging with the crowd. They give a great show!
Eric Johnson was a delight, though he was pretty mellow in his song choices but damn that man can PLAY!! And on it went with each performer, you could feel the crowd getting more and more excited and into it with every change-over. And lemme just say, they were so FAST in between performers. All the gear was set up on stage before the show, so basically all they had to do was unhook one player, turn on the pedal board of the next player, hook em up and away they went….like no time at all between sets!!
Kenny Wayne was just so fantastic, dat boy can PLAY!! I say boy cuz….he’s like a baby next to me, lol!! His singer is incredible too.
About the only thing I’d maybe change about the night is where they had the Los Lobos guys play. They performed right before Joe came out, and they were very good…but very mellow, laid-back and not high-energy. So with the crowd amping up till then, we kinda all amped back down at that point. Enjoyed them very much, but I think they shoulda played earlier in the night.
And finally, out came Joe. Third Stone From the Sun was totally “outta this world”, Joe had a lotta fun tweakin his pedals fer some really sonic and strange sounds that fit perfectly. Foxey Lady was excellent as you would expect, and All Along the Watchtower…Chris wanted to get his guitar and immediately start working on that one, lol!! Great job Joe!
