michelle - I just watched an episode of the Simpsons earlier today featuring political signs like "We're just plain evil" at a Republican convention and "We can't govern" at a Democrat one. They're misinformed on both sides, but it's funny because it's a cartoon.

When it's real life, though, like with what you just posted, it's just sad. Argh.

I 'm sure "Crystal Swing " are actually nice, proper folks but they un-nerve me to no end................especially the son............ shiver...........

Edit- Does any one Know if there is a story behind "Mystical Potato- Head Groove Thing " ? Has Joe ever said how he came up with that Title? I was listening to it on the way home today (from LIP) and I started wondering............ :-)

I have to sell my tickets for Wednesday's Experience Hendrix show at the Warfield in SF. I can't make that show, so I'm going to the Universal City show instead.

Is anyone here interested in my two tickets? They're at a table on Joe's side, the second section back from the stage on the main floor. Face value is $69 each, for a total of $172.50 with TM fees for the pair.

I'm going out of town on Saturday, so I'd need to mail them by then. PayPal is probably the easiest way to pay for the tickets. Send me an e-mail if you're interested. Thanks!

dream3 - All politics aside, I personally think the Obama "socialism" posters are hilarious.

As another aside, is everyone familiar with the Admiral Ackbar "It's a trap" meme?

I saw a t-shirt a few weeks ago that's a play on that and the Obama "hope" image that I thought was pretty hilarious. Here it is.

Peace Lily - If my elephant's memory is correct, TMPHGT is a title that Joe picked up from a conversation with his brother John (yes, that Brother John). That's only where it came from, though...I'm sure there's more to the story as far as what it actually means.

The song is on Joe's Anthology album...maybe there's more information in the liner notes? I'd check but I don't have the notes with me.

Austin - I always thought it was a reference to himself ("Potato Head") but could be very mistaken

Pee silly - The word "swing" in the band name, mother and grown up children in the band, just makes me wanna barf. Mebbe it is all innocent but one would think they'd have given a bit more thought to the name.

Remember this little guy from Toy Story?

Mr. Potato Head

Could he be in the story behind the name of the song?

Thanks alt for all the comments on my article. I didn't realise how well it was written before people started noticing me it :P
Have a great day!

The Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara is a beloved landmark. 1931 Mission Revival the interior simulating a Spanish Courtyard cumplete with stars shining overhead. If I was not link impaired I would post some lovely pictures.

That being said the acoustics are difficult and I would say marred the first set.

Billy Cox opened with Stone Free. It's a little early in the morning here for me to recollect all the impressions and the exact set list.

Stand out moments for me.

Living Color really putting their energy and heart into Crosstown Traffic. The Santa Barbara audience has a reputation of being cadaver like and they would have none of it.

Eric Johnson doing "Are You Experienced?". I had never seen him before. I loved his tone and his spin on the vocals.

Kenny Wayne Shepard has the most amazing guitarist. I don't know the kids name but my God his Voodoo Chile Slight Return. I did not think anyone could top that. Totally awesome and intense playing. Very well done.

Johnny Lang also played and sang his heart out. All growed up now.

Joe came out last with Living Color. Third Stone From the Sun I feel suffered from the acoustics it was pretty fuzzy and the feedback was a bit much. I know, just the way Jimi would have wanted it. That's just me. Great version of All Along the Watchtower one of my all time favorites. The crowd was going insane. Many people dancing in the aisles and taking pictures. I did hear one woman calling out "Joe Joe". Joe it wasn't me in case you think I am some kind of nut. I think he made some new fans here last night. The encore was Red House and I think Foxy Lady.

I think the performers and the audience had a great time. The entourage bow was nice. Sorry I did not take a camera.

Each act built on the previous. People with tickets - you are in for a treat!

More later on my personal crazy concert neighbors. Ha Ha. Mr. Bottomless Popcorn Buckethead.

Forgive all spelling errors it's not even light here yet.

Yeah..Kenny Wayne filled in for Eric Johnson when he abruptly left the G3 tour, not sure if Eric came back or not.

It's funny because I always thought KWS was the singer in his band too, but it's some other guy. I think it's kind of selfish to name the band after yourself if you are'nt talented enough to sing too. Not saying he is'nt talented (he is)..but if you don't sing you should'nt name the band after yourself. I'm not bragging (ok maybe a little), but I can play anything KWS can play..just sayin'.

Happy friday peeps !!

I thought he was exceptional on that song. If he could sing the world would be at his feet. I did not know most of the people that played. I'm not even that big of a guitar fan. I know, what am I doing here? Anyway good night on the town.

Dear Everyone I am a huge Satch fan, however I have seen him play only once in t he G3 concert in Minneapolis MN with Eric Johnson and Steve Vai which was amazing. Now I am in Maine and hope he will visit Merrill Auditorium in Portland to play. I would love to meet him. I play piano and guitar myself and am an aspiring musician, artist and writer. I compose my own stuff which is nowhere near as good as Joe's but is my own style. I hope to meet like minded people here to be friends with and perhaps form a band... Dylan

Do The Stu- Thanks for mentioning that MPHGT is on "An Anthology" Silly me ...I have that .....Here's what Joe said in the linear notes " THERE'S NO EXPLAINING THIS TITLE.  ITS JUST ONE OF THOSE PHRASES THAT POPPED INTO MY HEAD ONE DAY. I THINK I WAS TALKING ON THE PHONE WITH MY BROTHER JOHN WHEN I ABSENTMINDEDLY JOTTED IT DOWN ON A PIECE OF PAPER.  WHAT FOLLOWED WAS AN INCREDIBLY FUN BUT TECHNICALLY DIFFICULT SONG TO WRITE AND PERFORM.  THE CONERSTONE OF THE SONG IS A GROUP OF RAPID-FIRE LEGATO SIXTEEN NOTE ARPEGGIOS THAT SEEM TO FLY OUT OF THE SPEAKERS. HEARING THEM MAKES ME FEEL FREE. THIS IS ONE SONG THAT STILL NEEDS DAILY PRACTICE IF I AM TO PERFORM IT ONSTAGE"

MPHGT is one of my favorites, it is full of positive energy.... ;-)

Castle49- Thank you for sharing your concert experience with us, Some day I hope to attend a "Joe Show" too..............

POSSIBLE BOOK PROPOSAL IDEA FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: Dear Joe: I am working on a book entitled Instrumental Influences: Reflections on the Classical Guitar by the World's Outstanding Classical Guitar Performers to be published for Christmas 2010. As of today, I have signed up more than 25 of the world's best classical guitarists to provide essays on how the classical guitar has been an "instrumental influence" in their lives or the lives of their students. Brian Head, GFA president is writing foreword to the book.

Would like to send you the proposal to get your take on a parallel project for rock/blues world--maybe for 2011.

You or your management can contact me through the publisher at: donnleviejr@kingscrownpublishing.com

Continued success, Donn LeVie, Jr. P.S. We've met before a few years back when you were in Austin signing autographs at Sound Warehouse....
