Learnt a little factoid just now:

Guitarist Joe Satriani's 2002 album and music publishing company are both named "Strange Beautiful Music" which is a lyric from Third Stone From The Sun.

Grant....It continues to reach 50 every day and much of the snow is gone...HOAX, HOAX, HOAX !!! Just when everyone starts raking yards and getting garden stuff out we're going to get another blizzard. Mother Nature is a cruel prankster..

I think "Strange Beautiful Music" was the name of his publishing company way before he made the album itself because I remember seeing that on an earlier album.

Yes, Joe has been publishing under SBM for a long time...since the very beginning, or maybe shortly after. If you look through Joe's old posts from around the time the SBM album came out you'll see mention of the Third Stone From The Sun connection, too.

Any reviews from last night's gig? I heard from MegaBoyd that Sammy Hagar guested on Foxey Lady.

Well, that's all from me for now...back to playing in the snow for one more full day. Skiing sure is one big rush... ;-)

Hello Joe and God Bless You.

I just tweeted something clearly evident: 2006-2010: Joe Satriani - five albums, EVH - ZERO! I think you keep me happier than any other artist at this time in my life - 100 percent happier!

I have been a disco fan in the 70s, rock (KISS in the 70s, VH & YOU - 80s +), pop, metal, country fan (nothing after about 1990 though and certainly nothing today)... As a kid I was laughed at one day when we did oral presentations of our hobbies. I said I collected Elton John & Billy Joel albums. It wasn't too traumatic! lol But I put emphasis on artists who are still around, doing pretty well.... I loved and love KISS and Van Halen; again, still around, doing pretty well.... Boston....Journey; still doing it today. The point is, those who I've picked (as opposed to say Poison, Cinderella, the Outlaws, Coverdale/Page) to follow closest are still relevant. My ex-brother-in-law introduced me to you when Surfing With The Alien was new. I was floored. Ed floored me. Eric Johnson floored me.

You continue to floor me all the time and really have a greater drive than a lot of those who I mentioned are "still around" and I suppose there are a variety of reasons, including the state of the industry, financially, today... Point being, you are RELEVANT. You stay RELEVANT and CURRENT.

My son and I have seen you in Cleveland with the Foot and in Akron in '06. I have to say, you blew me away on stage, more than anyone else ever has. Ed has let me down with his inconsistency and the declining quality of product he puts forth...ON STAGE. He's always going to do great stuff, but he's not into the groove he was in the 80s, like you were then and like you remain, and like you have become MORE SO YOURSELF. I think it's great to become older. Becoming more active with age is a blessing.

You're blessed. You live the life we all aspire to, those who play strings.... Keep it up. Never change. Don't change. Keep doing what you do. I understand why people won't put money into productions that will be downloaded for free.... I get it. Still, there's a 3D approach to movie making, so there's got to be something the music can do or create or accompany that can't be downloaded.

With your mind, I challenge you to be the one to come up with "it". Why do I just know you will!?!?!?!?

Keep putting out your spirit.

Oh, and the next Chickenfoot record I think should be called "Spotaneous Organimation" because

1. The awe inspiring story and chilling feeling I get when you consider "Down The Drain" in your membrane. I think that is well defined as "spontaneous organization" because that is what it is! 2. I think something animated should show up out of the ether when the music plays. 'Good idea for a video. I think a new "player" and a new format in addition to (instead of) CDs could create the visual. Nobody will be able to download that! 3. It's a cool name. 4. That's what my idea of "visual without TV" going along with music, is; spontaneous organi-MAtion.

Let me know what you think!

5150_Alien-I with you all the way. Joe is definitely relevant and current, but he also keeps getting better as the years go on. And he was amazing when he started. "Memories" is one of my favorite songs. While all of those guiarists get washed up and lose their energy, Joe is still up there giving it his all and putting his heart and soul into his music every night. We are lucky to live in the same lifetime as him.

Elton John was the very first performer I ever listened to. For the first three or four years that I listened to music in my life, I listened to Elton John. And I started listenening to Billy Joel last year and I love the entire "The Stranger" album.

oxley11 - Thanks!

RE: Billy Joel "The Stranger" was definitely my favorite album of his. "Glass Houses" has some really high highs though not as great an overall album.

Elton is timeless. Joe is definitely timeless as well. These guys are trend setters and their inspirations almost look so far inferior than they, themselves. i.e. Hendrix, Page - those guys were polar opposites but equally as well known. Hendrix was a master but Joe's taken it so much further, into the stratosphere!......and yet Page is somehow as well revered. The guy plays like, in the words of EVH, " 'a 2 year old with a broken hand' ". If you can't do it live, what do the 151 takes you took to get it right really mean? Joe, da Foot? One take. One take UNREHEARSED AND UNWRITTEN! (Down the Drain) That's a trend setter.

It's inspiring to me in other areas of my life than simply guitar.

Its really interesting...

There have been 199,973 posts since this website started in '02.

There are currently 101,069 members of this website to this date.

Yet, only 15,846 have contributed to these almost 200,000 posts.

And now there are about 20-30 satriani.com veterans who I can think of who like to post something everyday and have well over 500-1000 posts.

Now, I can understand that you would join because your a Satch fan, but why wouldn't you like to get a little more involved in what the website has to offer.

I don't know??? Well, its just an interesting little bit of info. Sorry if I bored anybody who decided to read this. I'm kinda bored myself right know. That's probably the only reason I figured this out.

Cheese -LOL. It's set for release on April 20 here and 26th in the UK I believe. Can't wait!

I read it on Blabbermouth. But I also saw mention of it on 3 or 4 other sites. Usually Blabbermouth is pretty spot on though.

EVH on Jimmy Page...."Plays guitar like a two year old with a broken hand"......Is that supposed to be a compliment ?

Maybe Eddie should remember that Mr.Page conquered his demons back when he formed The Firm with Paul Rodgers. We'll see you at the bar Ed !!

Hi Joe, Long time fan, back to your '82 Warefield show. For the last three years I've been hoping for a G3 with Vernon Reid on board. You did me one better as I saw you last Saturday night get out on stage with all of Living Colour. Great stuff! The whole show, but that especially. Everybody looked like they were having a blast. I had been wonder about Eric Johnson and how he ended up on a G3. Now I know why. My friend Jay says he hopes your laryngitis is better. Thanks for many years of joyous music. Good luck on the rest of the tour - Ed
