Hybes: Hey Mark, thanks for the praise. The winner was 1 minute & 38 seconds ahead of me. 3rd place was around 10 seconds behind me. I was in 3rd place after the first mile and then moved up to 2nd going into the second mile and maintained my placing throughout the entire race. It was pretty much all trails and it was a struggle for some runners. I was surprised to finish ahead of my fellow competitors because they pass me in a number of races. I'll have another race or two until the Indy-Mini on May 8th. Can't wait to run it the second time and run on the Indianapolis 500 Track again; which is an experience for me.

Axe: That's excellent. I was a soda, Snapple, and tea person myself back then. I quit drinking soda a number of years back and started drinking those energy drinks, which I have cut down on. I haven't had one of those since the beginning of this year. I now go for water & gatorade/powerade mostly, juice, hot tea, lemonade, and milk. I'll have to go to the grocery store soon this week; it's been almost two months. I watch what I eat, as well as my budget. Keep in touch.

Darn, I don't have cable so I missed Joe on VH1. Oh well, there's always Youtube.

Two days off so I can R&R and get some work done around the apartment.

Joe & Everyone: Hope you're doing well.

Grant

Hey, I'm doing a research paper on joe satriani, I've found it difficult to find information on joe's early career before his success of surfing with the alien, focusing on his influences, playing style and instruments before working with Ibanez.

If anyone could recommend an resources if would be much appreciated.

Thanks. Myles.

Today marks the 15th Anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing. Prayers to all the victims and their families.

It's also the day of the Boston Marathon. Good luck to my running buddies who are in it.

@Myles O- You're so lucky! I wish I was able to a research paper on Joe that was school-necessary. That would be an easy 100. I would probably be able to write more than 10 pages. If you go to The Vault on this website, go to the interview with Musician's Friend and he gives some info on his influences in his top three, which I believe is 1.Jimi Hendrix 2.Billy Gibbons and 3. Wes Montgomerey. And his two most notable music teachers were Billy Bauer and Lenny Tristano. And in high school, Joe started to explore the world of modes which he studied avidly. (By singing or humming if I remember correctly.) This video will help you understand when and how he started his mastery of the modes. Joe Satriani On Modes Hope I helped getting you some info. Maybe fill in some blanks.

That Joe interview is like saving grace to me. A new album??? YESSSSSS!!!!!!! And he said it was going to be "out there" which, as Do The Stu mentioned, hasn't been the basis of one of Joe's albums in a while. Except for my little excerpt on Is There Love In Space? That album is different, even for Joe, as I said earlier. He reached a new standard on Satrionics there. lol. But Joe was also saying that many people started on one of his more modern albums such as SBM of Super Colossal and they say that that is their favorite album. But when they go to earlier albums such as Surfing With The Alien or Flying In A Blue Dream, they can't understand it. It's like stepping into another dimension. They begin to characterize Joe as just a rock guitarist with some extra tricks and more talent than the regular mainstream worn-out guitarist.

The first song I heard of his was Satch Boogie. And I found out that it was on the Surfing With The Alien album. Now I liked instrumental music way before I found out about him so when I heard it, I looked into it. I found out that everything he does is instrumental, because how can you sing about Surfing With An Alien. And the title itself was like. Huh???? I could tell simply by his titles that he was different. Wasn't your boring average person. You could tell he liked aliens. Circles and SWTA. And I didn't even know what the heck Ice 9 was. Whenever you find out about an artist of any type that has been around for a good amount of time, you start from the beginning. Otherwise you get use to their modern stuff and when you try to go back and don't understand, you miss out on their best work, which in Joe's case is pure gold with a little bit of eccentricity. (Which is what the people don't understand). If Joe releases an album that is "out there", he might lose some of the minors fans that don't fully understand him, while the major fans who know Joe as to do something outlandish, will only love the music more. I've only been a fan for a year and a half and i've listened to all of his albums, love them each individually and understand what he is trying to express in each one. And I started with SWTA even after I received PSATMOR as a present awhile beforehand.

WOMEN'S REVENGE

'Cash, check or charge?' I asked, after folding items the woman wished to purchase.

As she fumbled for her wallet , I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse.

'So, do you always carry your TV remote?' I asked.

'No,' she replied, 'but my husband refused to come shopping with me,

and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally.'

MARRIAGE SEMINAR

While attending a Marriage Seminar dealing with communication, Tom and his wife Grace listened to the instructor, 'It is essential that husbands and wives know each other's likes and dislikes.'

He addressed the man, 'Can you name your wife's favorite flower?'

Tom leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered, 'It's Pillsbury, isn't it?

CIGARETTES AND TAMPONS

A man walks into a pharmacy and wanders up & down the aisles.

The sales girl notices him and asks him if she can help him.

He answers that he is looking for a box of tampons for his wife.

She directs him down the correct aisle.

A few minutes later, he deposits a huge bag of cotton balls and a ball of string on the counter.

She says, confused, 'Sir, I thought you were looking for some tampons for your wife?

He answers, 'You see, it's like this, yesterday, I sent my wife to the store to get me a carton of cigarettes, and she came back with a tin of tobacco and some rolling papers; cause it's sooo-ooo--oo-ooo much cheaper.

So, I figure if I have to roll my own ........... so does she.

The Silent Treatment

A man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving each other the silent treatment.

Suddenly, the man realized that the next day, he would need his wife to wake him at 5:0 0 AM for an early morning business flight.

Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper, 'Please wake me at 5:00 AM.'

He left it where he knew she would find it.

The next morning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight.

Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn't wakened him, when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed.

The paper said, 'It is 5:00 AM...Wake up.'

Men are not equipped for these kinds of contests.
