From Joe's blog -

"Afterward, I hung out with Hubert Sumlin for a while. He told some beautiful stories about his very talented older brother. Hubert has such a way about him, almost an angelic aura. When I looked at him, he seemed to have bright light all about him - no joke. More importantly, you just feel good being around him. A most special person."

JOE, that's the same way I feel when I'm around you. I know you have the same effect on a lot of your fans. I'm so grateful that Hubert did for you what you do for us. The vibe and energy and aura you exude is a rare thing. So, as grateful as you are to have your time with Hubert is as grateful as I am to have my time with you. It's an amazing feeling, isn't it :-)

Love ya Joe!

Hahaha... Everyone knows the website College Humor, right? They played an April Fools' Day joke today...they dressed up in In-N-Out employee clothes and told New Yorkers restaurants would be opening in the city. They hung signs in vacant buildings and everything. Awesome.

Do the stu: I haven't been doing very much lately, best thing I did was come fifth in the school battle of the bands (it was rigged) I played the extremist and the crowd seemed to like it so, nothing lost nothing gained.

What have you been up to then?

hey Joe, Bob and Janis here. We met you at the Sam Ash in Burbank, Il the night after attending the Experience Hendrix concert. You signed our tickets and our cd as well. Just wanted you to know that we had a great time meeting you for the 2nd time and we really appreciate your doing what you do for your fans. Love the new Live in Paris cd. Oh and when we saw you in the concert at the Chicago Theater you played a song I thought I would never hear someone do live. Third Stone from the Sun. Your rendition was great too. But hey seems if anyone would pull it off you would. So was just wondering how is it touring with all these great guitarists? I mean are you guys having alot of fun doing the tour? I know you seem like the kind of guy thats going to have fun no matter what your doing. Any way Keep on Rockin and hope to see you on a solo tour soon. Oh by the way How are things with Chickenfoot? By any chance are you going to be playing with Sammy Hagar at Naperville Rib fest? Check your schedule would love to see you with him there. Well we are very pleased to have met you and like I say hope to see you again real soon.

Joe Satriani At Sweetwater Sound Clinic

Skippy- I did fall for your Chickenfoot post yesterday because I forgot what day it was at first ..LOL But then I was like ...wait a minute that can't be right...( anyway it was a good one!)

Do The Stu- The College Humor link got me too.......

Mikesb- Thanx for the Dave Martone link.

Michelle- I enjoyed the Better Days link , had not heard that song in ages. Huge thank you for the Slash cd listening party link

GG2- Hope you are feeling better today.....

PIp- Hey! Hope your doing Ok after your accident and all .... you have not posted in ages.... :-)

Edit- I was listening to Slash's new Cd ..really enjoying the tracks especially some of those with Myles Kennedy and thinking Wow I really like his singing with Slash's playing.....they should team up ....Well I guess they are .... "In November 2009, Kennedy recorded "Starlight", a song for Slash's solo album Slash to be released in April 2010. He recorded another track for that album in February 2010 called "Back from Cali"[5]. On February 3, 2010, Slash announced on his Facebook page, "Also, I want to announce that Myles Kennedy is going to be fronting the band for the upcoming tour. Something I'm really stoked about. Myles sang a killer track on the record & I think he is by far one of the best Rock & Roll singers out there today. I'm really honored & proud to be working with him."

Those statements came from Wikipedia , I hope its true.

Hope everyone is having a Good Friday so far!

I got my pictures/CD developed, but when I looked at them, they were not good. There was a pic of me and Distorted Soul, but that turned out very poorly. Only about half of them turned out okay so I'll post the "good" pics for you all soon.

Peace Lily: Thank you for posting another Sweetwater performance of Joe. AWMAWY was totally amazing.

Skippy: Thanks for posting that.

Oxley11: Those were excellent choices of solos by Joe. I wonder what you're favorite top 5 will be.

Pip55: What's the word man?

Distorted Soul: Sorry about that dude! How are things going for you?

Hope everyone is doing well and will have a good and safe Easter. I know I'll be busy. I got off work earlier today (banquet function for one of our local YMCAs). I have to go back later tonight and work in the restaurant, but only for a few hours. That would mean I can check out a local band tonight. One of my coworkers at the guitar store is performing. Hopefully I'll get some running in before I work tomorrow evening and Sunday morning/afternoon. We have a huge Easter buffet we're doing at our hotel and it's mandatory for me to work. We're probably over the 500 mark in people/reservations. I'll look forward when the whole weekend will be over with.

Joe, Chickenfoot, Webmaster, and Everyone: I wish you all a Good Friday and Happy Easter.

Grant

Yes, thanks. I'm feeling much better today.

Michelle--Well said........JOE has a huge heart and a way of seeing people that lifts us to a higher place.......a world of endless possibilities. His generous sharing makes me smile and warms my heart.....beyond what I can think or say.

JOE---THANK YOU for all you do. Happy Easter and keep spreading that joy!

Today is better than yesterday, for sure.

Mikesb--That JS1600 is beautiful......It would be nice to have that with a 15W amp.....Alias, my funds are short and reserves are slim. I'm sure it's worth 4 digits for those who can afford it. Food, clothing, shelter come first.

GG2 :-)

The Black Crowes - Good Friday

I went to a Dodgers preseason game last night, thanks to a friend who scored some AWESOME 10th-row seats from her boss. We were right behind the Dodgers' dugout. Check out my view here.
michelle - I like another bit from Joe's blog, the "Hey Joe, where you goin'..." part. It's nice to know T2J isn't the only place where he gets that. ;-)

And I LOVE Slash's new CD. I agree with what someone said on Mike Portnoy's forum...Slash does a great job changing his style on each song to suit the various people he's singing with.

BobCliffe - Fifth place is still OK...regardless of where you finished, the experience playing in front of people is worth more than anything else.

I'm doing OK...still looking for that full-time job. :-/

And about your picture with Joe, if you email it to webmaster@satriani.com it'll be up on the site whenever Jon makes his next big update.

GG2: What price range are you leaning toward? You can often get a decent buy on craigslist if you know what you want. I had an Orange 120W head 3 decades ago so I've been down that road. I tend to stay away from some of the solidstate + multi-effects amps. But, in a pinch some will do.

I personally have a VOX AD30VT that you can grab used for about the $150-200 range. I like the way they've designed the circuitry so that you can get an edge of distortion like an old Fender Tweed and then kick up the input volume to distort a bit more. Some overdrive circuits aren't quite so smooth (usually either one extreme or the other).

I'm typically picky about tone in subtle ways. I normally wouldn't have given this amp a 2nd glance, but I got it on a trade for some desktop support work and have come to LOVE it for some all around practice.

Has one 10" speaker in it (ok, but I'll replace it with a 12" some day). 15 watts will be ok for you if you're looking for portability/studio/or apartment levels. You won't be impressed much with sound unless you're going for a small Class A tube amp and intend on cranking it. If THAT's the case...think about a 5-15W tube amp where you can crank a little. An amp putting out 5W is incredibly loud with the right speaker. The speaker selection is everything, too, but can be changed later.

GG2: Well, I peeked at the SF Bay area (peeking at where Santa Clara was) on craigslist. Here's a couple recent links in craigslist that look like some nice contenders. I've had a Line6 head...not bad for practice for a variety of situations (i.e. plugin an ipod and play along with headphones).

The Vox can be serious little tone contender. It's tube and I just love the way tubes saturate. So...there ya go...my 2 cents worth! :-)

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/msg/1667650883.html

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/msg/1665904570.html (this is what I have)

Also...if you have a tech friend...goto http://www.ax84.com and check out the doberman amps...plus the amp kits they sell. I used to do a lot of forum on this site. It mainly consists of amp techs & hobbyists looking to emulate high end saturated distortion in bedroom level volumes. Don't let the 5W-15W levels fool you...these amps scream and are as loud as you'll need for studio, apartment & playing out mic'd up.
