I can't wait! Godsmack & Chickenfoot. WOOO!

I'm going to Best Buy straight from work. I'm so excited! lol!

Man did it rain over the last 24 hours!! The front of our basement flooded, so my hubs was up half the night with the shop vac sucking up buckets of water. A bunch of stuff got wet, but the studio is fine. I'm not complaining either. Have you seen Mississippi? Tennessee? Now that's flooding! Yikes! 13 inches of rain in 2 days and a few deaths. No sir, I'm not complaining!

Peace - thanks, I have everything crossed in the hope that somehow either Joe solo or with Chickenfoot he books a tour for us.

I also just finished Scar Tissue and agree with you. How much drugs can one person do? How did he remember every gig, recording and girl? And he didn't say how he is now. Interesting little bits tho, like Buckethead auditioning for them, never knew that.

I just got my Chickenfoot DVD ducked out if work and got it at JB. They're not stocking the Blu-Ray at all so settled for the DVD. Whilst I was there I did some therapy and got It Might Get Loud. Anvil, and Iron Man 1 haha.

My US Visa expired back in February. I procrastinated on renewing it for a long time and almost missed the Dream Theater gig in June, but I finally got it done today, should be getting my new visa by the end of May. Will have to check out all the new Satch releases then! (they're too expensive on the Mexican side of the border).

It looks like I will make it to the Rush show in June after all :D more on that later.

Michelle: I was reading the Ozzfest announcement, this is probably one of the lamest Ozzfest lineups ever. No wonder they're doing less than 10 shows :)

Glitz: Congrats on your results, everything's great over here, and if you're feeling the guitar bug by all means embrace it! u won't regret it!!

...got this from Zack today: "Just reaching out to some people whose work i love and respectjust reaching out to get your ear for a minute about this fucked up situation in Arizonaif you haven't heard the Arizona state legislature passed a bill that was signed into law by the governor a few days ago that legalizes and sanctions racial profiling. straight up. it forces the cops to hunt down and target anyone they "reasonably suspect" is in the country "illegally". And if the people they harass don't have proof that they were born here on them when they are stopped, they can be detained. shit makes me sick. Fans of our music, our stories, our words. pulled over and fucked with on the daily cause they are brown or black. people who are poor like most of us used to be, who are just on the hustle trying to make a little cake to survive. this law opens the door for them to be shaked down, or even worse, detained and deported while just trying to travel home from school. or from home to work. or when they just roll out with they're friends. some of us grew up dealing with this shit, sweated on the daily, but this law(sb 1070) takes it to a whole new low. if other states follow the direction of the Arizona government, we could be headed towards a pre civil rights era reality. all this shit kicked up by the az government who at one point refused to acknowledge mlk day as a national holiday. when rosa refused to give up her seat, they arrested her. people got together and said we are not gonna ride the bus till they change the law. it kicked off the montgomery bus boycott. what if we got together, signed a collective letter saying "we're not going to ride the bus" we're not gonna comply. we are not gonna play in Arizona. down for a boycott?would love to hear your thoughts on this.all my love and respect. one, Zack de la Rocha...."

Joe, thanks for sharing that, wonder what your thoughts are on the whole situation.

I personally think there's another agenda behind this law. And sure enough, some modifications have already been made to it. If they wanted to bring this issue to the forefront, they sure suceeded.

Hey Joseph

One Q, will the rest of the EU tour dates to be released soon all be at once, or will dates be added as the shows/venues are confirmed?

Thanks for sharing that, Joe. It's nice to see a longer comment from someone like Zack instead of a lot of the knee-jerk criticisms I've seen elsewhere that don't have much thought put into them.

I think if this bill is successful at anything, it's that it will bring the issue front and center, as elpp said.

I'm not sure that a boycott is the right way to protest this, at least not yet. A boycott worked when the MLK holiday stuff happened 20 years ago...the NFL even moved the Super Bowl from Arizona to California one year. I think this situation is a bit different, though. The MLK thing was primarily the governor's doing (as I understand it), but 17 state legislators voted to pass this immigration bill. Regardless of my thoughts on the bill, I think because more people were involved in its passage a court challenege or statewide vote should be pursued before people turn to a boycott. Right or wrong, that's how I think the system should work.

michelle / Skippygirl - I've probably mentioned this before, but Aerosmith's 1997 biography Walk This Way is a great read. There's lots of drugs and sex and drugs, but there's a lot of great funny stories as well. The book is written in an interview format, and it's neat to read conflicting accounts of the same incident from different band members.
Listening to: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals - Apologies

Here is a version of that song on YouTube...I REALLY like Grace's voice.

And just for fun, here's the Grace Potter performance that's posted here all the time.

Hey Joe, i know you have many other things on your mind, and your busy with all your work and music. How ever, i really want you to hear this; and maybe hear your opinion. But i just know that this vintage rock/blues band "Blind Lion" could/would be a perfect opening act for Chickenfoot. Or maybe just for some westcoast shows! Our live sound is completely different ( better, a little heavier guitar and sound ). We will have videos up soon. Hope you have a quick listen. If i need to send a presskit so you can know more about us and what we do, and have done will do! Blind Lion Music

Im ready for your new album, ice 9 pedal! and chickenfoot!

Joe - sounds nasty, I don't begin to try to understand how your legislature works but hopefully AZ SB 1070 can be overridden by a Federal law? It also sounds like a cochamamie attempt at a bad solution in desperation to solve a problem.

skippygirl that new law in arizona is really not a new law. they simply took existing federal law and mandated that it be enforced. the federal law was passed in 1940. what they will be doing now is when a person is legally stopped for whatever reason they would have already been stopped, the officer will ask for their immigration status. if they are driving and have no license, then that is an indication that they may not be legal. the people of Arizona have passed this law with a large majority of support because they are in a war zone with the mexican drug cartels. they average 1 kidnapping a day there and most recently, a rancher who routinely helped the illegals when they passed thru his land was shot and killed by suspected grug smugglers. i think that as times continue to be tough financially on American citizens you will find broad support for laws that try to stop illegal immigrants for getting the benefits of free education for thier children and free medical attention. polls taken recently show this to be the case. i think it is also prudent to take a look at the immigration laws of Mexico which are much harsher then here. just being illegal once there gets you two years in prison and if caught a second time its ten years. i think we would all like to help the less fortunate, but there is a limit to the resources and i think American citizens should be the first to beneifit from tax dollars which are taken from them.

Skippygirl - To answer your question in a different way...

When state laws and federal laws conflict with each other, the federal laws win. For example, federal law says it's a crime to possess marijuana for any reason. But some states, like California, have passed laws saying possession of marijuana for medicinal purposes is OK. So every now and then you'll hear about federal agents raiding medicinal marijuana facilities in California and making arrests (it doesn't happen too often...the federal government has avoided the confrontation by saying prosecuting medicinal marijuana cases isn't worth the resources).

In the case of the Arizona immigration bill, yes, the federal government could pass a new law to override it. But that's tricky...they can't just single out Arizona and cancel that one law, they'd have to pass a general law saying that only the federal government (and not individual states) has the power to create laws concerning immigration. And that won't happen, because it'd create a whole mess of other problems in states that already have other less controversial immigration laws in place.

It's a very complicated issue.

I think Obama's exact words were...

"That bitch is crazy!"

j/k, but I'm sure he said that at some point.

I really can't believe they passed a law like that. It's insane. So glad to hear yer views on it Joe. What can we do to help? If you find something - let us know!
